Chapter 302: Between the bushes

Just after Rick and his group were taken to the terminal, a slightly strange walker appeared in the woods not far from where they had been staying. He wore a cloak covered in mud and rotting flesh, and his face covered in blood had a pair of clear eyes.

Carol had obviously smeared her face with dead blood. Due to time constraints, she simply stuffed her face with blood and mud, but even so this was enough to keep any walker from approaching her.

As she walked among the undead, she scanned the complex of buildings not far from her position. She didn't see Rick and the others being arrested at the moment, but she soon saw the scene in the courtyard.

"It's Rick and Lori..."

"God, they're all trapped, what should I do?"

Lori was captured, which meant that Shane and the others also fell into the enemy's hands, judging from the current situation, those people probably took advantage of Lori to trap them.

Focusing on the overall situation in the courtyard, Carol kept thinking about how to save her people from these unknown people. After coming to this conclusion, she looked at the equipment on her body and she only had a rifle, some grenades, two pistols and a dagger.

It is obvious that even with more equipment, she cannot defeat the enemy by herself, so she can only look for a way that would be effective.

It would be great for both her and her people to encounter a horde of walkers, but that would lead to other kinds of trouble, would everyone be affected if it came to attacking that way?

"No, I should contact the base first, with so many captains gathered in one place they might send someone immediately."

Carol had a brilliant idea, and after thinking about it she pulled out her radio and started communicating with the base, "Zz.... Carol here, can anyone hear me? It's urgent, respond as soon as possible!"

"Zz..."

"Damn radio, no signal when you need it most..."

Although no one responded, she was still doing her best to send signals, paying attention to the situation in the field from time to time, but knew she had to take action if her own people were in danger.

As time slowly passed, Carol became increasingly anxious, the sky had darkened a little and it would soon be night.

As she communicated with the base, she was not simply in one place, at the moment she had been gathering dozens of walkers behind her, she could tell that the number was not that large but enough for what she needed. According to the survival manuals, if you want to make use of a horde of walkers the number is a very important point.

Just as Carol was hesitating whether to go further to find some walkers, a faint crackle came from the radio at her waist.

"Zz... Home base, this is George... Respond if you receive my voice. Zz... We're heading with all survivors to base, respond."

"George?"

"Airon is on his way to base?"

Carol hearing this news was filled with joy, in no time she pressed the intercom button to get in contact with those people, her eyes kept looking around, surrounded by trees, looking for a safe place where walkers won't attack her if they hear her voice.

"A tree?"

Carol looked at the big tree beside her, she hesitated for a moment, after making a decision she removed the gun from her shoulder, leaving only a pistol and a dagger at her waist, she moved her hands and held the trunk tightly propelling her body upwards thanks to her legs. She simply climbed up little by little, even if her hands were worn out by the rough tree trunk, she didn't care, and finally reached the top of the tree with continuous efforts.

"God...!"

"Zi... Georgel! This is Carol, please answer."

"Zz..."

"Zz... Hello? Can you hear me? It's Carol!"

"Zz... Copy that... Carol... Long time no hear your voice!"

Filled with excitement, Carol didn't rush to tell her concerns. She was still unsure of the location of George and the others. If the distance was too great, they wouldn't be able to help.

"Are they really on their way to the base?"

"Yes, we're back. I'm about to enter the urban area. Sorry, the signal isn't that good right now."

"Great, where are you, where's the commander?"

Airon, who should have been at George's side must have heard Carol's voice coming from the radio, so he asked after a few seconds, "Carol, what's wrong?"

Airon's voice rang quickly through the radio, and just one sentence made her, who was in a state of confusion, calm down a lot. Carol sighed slowly, now she knows that as long as Airon knows about the group's situation, he will come to rescue them no matter the enemies.

"Airon, Rick and the others, something happened to them!"

...

In a few minutes, Carol told him the whole story that had happened in the last few days. When Airon heard the name of the terminal, a clear murderous intent shone in his eyes without hiding.

This group of bastards, Airon knew that on the occasion he was heading to Noah's community he had to solve the enemy, but for a moment he thought that things might change. After months and many unexpected situations, he had forgotten about a problem like the terminal, and honestly did not expect Rick's group to jump into the clutches of the enemy with all the warnings and advice he gave.

An hour later, on the road not far from the terminal, a convoy of at least fifteen large trucks slowly pulled to a stop on the side of the road, with the modified RV and several Humvees in tow.

Then a figure was seen emerging from the woods on the side of the road, it was none other than Carol who had a happy smile on her face.

Looking at the long convoy, her expression froze for a moment, then she walked to the side of a Humvee with some uncertainty.

"Hi Carol, long time no see!"

A black-skinned man poked his head out of the driver's seat and looked at her with a smile on his face, it was T-dog.

Flashing a smile in response, he asked impatiently, "Where's the Airon?"

T-dog pointed to the back and said with some uncertainty. "It should be in the RV, wait a minute."

After a brief communication, a modified RV drove up to the front.

Strangers also got out of cars in the middle of the road, all with guns in hands and started to clear the walkers attracted by the convoy.

Originally, there were some military trucks with which they left the military base and even tanks, from which they had been moved to another base.

"You brought these people from Washington?"

"Yes, a lunatic force appeared there, capturing people as slaves everywhere, the commander rescued them and these people finally decided to join us..

As he spoke, he saw that the RV had reached the front of the line, and before it stopped, a man jumped through the door.

Seeing this person, Carol's expression finally relaxed a bit, and then she saw more than a dozen people getting out of the car one after another.

They were all familiar faces. After scanning around, she asked a little hesitantly.

"Where are Merle, Billy and Jon?"

Airon spoke a few feet away, "Billy died, as for the others everyone is fine."

"I don't like to welcome you back at all in this situation, but good to have you back."

Airon smiled a little, but wasn't interested in exchanging greetings now and asked directly, "Where are they now?"

"It's over there, very close to here. It's a station with a large area.".

"How many people?"

"I don't know. I wasn't there when they were captured. I only counted them approximately when they were in the square. There were more than 20 people at that time, but I don't know if there are other places with more people."

Without further questions, Airon frowned slightly, unconsciously put his arms around his chest and simply walked back and forth slowly in place.

Everyone behind him had been familiar with his behavior for a long time. Airon only showed this expression when he was thinking about a problem. No one bothered him, but Carol was not very familiar with him so she was stopped by Glenn from talking.

After a few minutes, people saw him raise his head, his eyes turned a little cold and Glenn and the others knew these guys were going to be in trouble.

"I shouldn't have thought too much about it, you just have to visit them." Airon said as he looked at all his men who had cold expressions and were more than ready to do whatever it took.
