Chapter 5: Alubarna, The City of Sand, Merchants & Trade

A few years later.

It's been two years after my debut party when I was five and something's happened during those years.

On a monthly basis the tribes of the east, that being the Lion, Hyena, Aligator, Falcon and Hippo Tribes leaders would come for a monthly meeting with each other to discuss things of importance going on between the tribes.

But it was also a reason for me, Liona, Bahati, Aurelia, Zuri and Shahina to spend time with each other to make us closer with one another and us building up to be close friends.

Though I did go out of my way to go out and See Nubia personally with the help of asking my parents to allow me to see her, which the found cute so they agreed to do that even though her tribe isn't a part of our territory.

Though there was a bit of bad news and a hidden Skaven infestation has appeared within our Eastern territory that the warriors of the tribes had to fight off and push them back, but as they were known for being cowards, once a stronger force was upon them the returned towards the central parts of the continent, this took several month to accomplish however and some people within the tribes unfortunately died, luckily besides some injuries, no one from our tribe in particular got killed in battle.

And that was pretty much it, nothing really else happened in those two years besides those things in particular and as my seventh birthday came and passed it was time for the yearly enrollment at Alexandria Academy in the city of Alubarna.

This was where all of us kids of my age group were now going to to learn for the next five years for all the children, though there would also be an additional 3 years after that for us children of Tribal Leaders to learn more of the political aspect of our future roles and to find our future lovers for ourselves.

Though it would turn out I would be a highly desirable husband in the eyes of all the tribes, not only that as because I was the only male of my generation I was allowed to have multiple wives and something my parents would desire for me to have many children and hopefully a son of my own.

And that's not all as being the only man within the last hundred years there's a good chance I could fully unify the tribes within my generation and for many generations to come as while we are of different races it isn't impossible for mix races to exist between two separate types of Beastmen that gain the strength from those two races born within one body of the child, examples being a tribe of Tiger Rabbitmen who have the immense speed of a rabbit with the natural strength of a tiger mixed within their genetics so unlike how it was portrayed in shows in my old life, mixed races were very beneficial to have as after all the Sphinx race is the pinnical of the Cat Beastmen.

*Sniff* "Our Baby boy is leaving the nest!" My mother Cleo began to cry out as the dune buggy, yes we use vehicles to get around on the roads made near the rivers crossing the dunes, that was here to pick me and begin the seven hour long journey from my home village to the center of the Saharan Desert to the City of Alubarna.

"What are you crying about? He will be back in a few months, you need to learn to stop coddling him all the time." Mother Bastet said to her, truly being the man in this two woman relationship, before she knelt down to my height any rubbed my head.

"Stay safe out there alright kiddo? Luckily Akila decided to wait until you were old enough to go along with you, and little Ankha proved herself with her surprising intellect to be accepted a year early and join you both in school together." She said as I looked over at the buggy as both Akila and Ankha had gotten inside after having their bags put away in the trunk.

"I will mom, I will see both in a few months." I said with a slight smile before I hug both of them as I said my goodbyes before heading off towards the buggy as the three of us waved goodbye to our home village while many saw us off and waved goodbye before we began the seven hour long journey towards Alubarna.

"I heard from my older cousin that Alubarna is a beautiful city, mixing in modern styles from the rest of the world and tribal culture from our people." Akila mentioned to me which peaked my interest.

"Really? I sure hope so, if our manor is modernized I sure hope it has air conditioning that I've heard modern dwellings in most of the world have." After all the desert during the day yearly stayed around 27-30 Celsius, with it being slightly cooler near the rivers, and at its hottest it can even reach up to 45-50 Celsius.

While those of us born and raised here within the Saharan we can handle these temperatures but when it gets really hot it can even be detrimental for us and I have grown to miss modern heating and cooling systems that most houses in first world countries have.

Luckily while the City of Alubarna is a city meant for teaching and training the children of the various tribal leaders along with high end members of the tribes it has another purpose.

It is considered Africas greatest Trade City as many goods from across the Saharan, Mediterranean, Atlantic Ocean, Central/Southern Africa and the Middle East have been brought here to Trade.

While the city is land locked and in the middle of the Desert, in the Western Portion of the Confederation the largest known Gold Deposits in the world came to be known and as Gold has always been considered a precious metal it was a great item for trade between us and the outside world.

Even though I say the city was only created within my Great Grandparents era, roughly 150 years ago as Beastmen have longer lives than humans, it was a major trade hub before officially becoming something of a city roughly 400 years ago and as a result it's considered the Oldest currently existing trade city in the world and thus many go here to trade there goods, even the illegal kind.

As the Confederation doesn't follow the guidelines of those modern governments there are still unsavory practices that are still allowed within confederation territory.

And one of those is unfortunately Slavery, though unlike Colonial Slavery that we supposedly aided in during the development of the new world back then the slavery nowadays is different.

Slaves that are made today are those that were mostly criminal slaves that had done bad deeds warranting them be made into slaves in the first place with many being bought by Orcs, Goblins and Dwarves to work within the mines to dig up silver, gold and gems.

It's a different way of using them for hard labor to pay back for what they did, but these slaves could be bought by those who travel to Alubarna in particular to get there own slaves for either to be made servants or in all likelihood to be turned into personal sex slaves.

Though most slaves that can be sold are not those that would from the tribes and are those from the feral tribes, Skaven, Lizardmen or even the monsters that lurk within the dunes.

Overall while I don't have a good look on slavery as a whole, I can understand the concept of those who have done wrong needing to work hard labor to make up for the crimes they had done in the first place, as for the sex slaves for enemy's of the confederation I neither like or hate it as those that attack the confederation pillage and rape those that lose to them and are taken away and turn into sex slaves for their tribes, thus what we are doing is what they would do to us in return as a result of us losing to them at the time.

And with modern technology the collars placed on their necks will tighten and choke them should they get to far from their master and if the master is killed either by them or something else, the slave will be killed as well, though the collars that criminals within the confederation sent to work hard labor have the collars more to signify them being slaves where as the collars placed on the captured enemies are meant to strangle them should they defy there masters.

But not only that the city is known as the drug capital of the world with both legal and illegal drugs sold there for anyone and anything to be bought.

Though the Alexandria Academy and surrounding manors are considered separate districts from the Merchant District south of the River where the Nile and the Niger (Nigh-Juh-Er) River combine into one.

The northern district is the academy and considered the noble district and unless you have a pass or at a student, you can't go into that district where as the Merchant or better known as the Commoners District is where everyone who wants to get goods from is the perfect place whatever you want at the right price and anyone, who isn't an enemy of the Confederation, can come and go from that part of the city.

'And I'm going to live in that city for quite sometime, I wonder how life will be like living there.' I couldn't help but think as I stared out at the window as I watched the river pass us by as we traveled to Alubarna.
