After the awakening ceremony ended, Ain was summoned to the principal's office. The principal, an older man with graying hair and sharp eyes, sat behind his large mahogany desk. His piercing gaze fixed on Ain as he entered the room. Ain could sense the tension in the air, knowing full well what was coming next.
"Sit down, Ain." The principal's voice was deep, carrying a hint of disappointment that Ain could already anticipate.
Ain took a seat across from the principal, crossing his arms casually, trying to remain calm despite the uncomfortable atmosphere.
"Tell me, Ain," the principal began, "What is your awakened attribute?"
Ain sighed inwardly. He had already decided not to reveal the full truth. He leaned forward slightly and spoke with a controlled tone.
"Sense Augmentation," he said. "It enhances my perception. I can sense vibrations within a 25-meter radius. It's useful for detecting things around me, like enemies or obstacles."
The principal furrowed his brows, his fingers tapping lightly on the desk.
"Sense Augmentation... That's it?"
Ain nodded, keeping his expression neutral. He could see the disappointment settling on the principal's face, as though a flame of hope had just been snuffed out.
"With your potential, we were hoping for something more... substantial. Sense Augmentation is useful, but not exactly what we expected from a 5-star potential student like you." The principal leaned back in his chair, clearly contemplating Ain's future.
Ain stayed silent, his mind wandering. He wasn't particularly concerned about what the principal thought. In truth, he didn't care about the expectations placed on him. He had his own plans now.
After a few more minutes of lackluster conversation, the principal dismissed him, still harboring the disappointment Ain had expected. Ain left the room, feeling more relieved than anything else. At least he managed to hide the true nature of his attribute.
As Ain walked down the corridor, he immediately noticed Katalia waiting for him by the entrance. She was leaning casually against the wall, her golden pupils fixed on him, her expression unreadable. Katalia was a mystery to everyone in the academy. She wasn't originally from the federation, and her background was unknown, yet she worked here as an intern teacher. Despite her enigmatic aura, she was the one person Ain could speak openly to.
"So, how did it go?" Katalia asked, pushing herself off the wall as Ain approached, her golden eyes sharp and curious.
Ain let out a long sigh, rubbing the back of his neck before answering. "It was... tense, to say the least. The principal wasn't exactly subtle about how much he was expecting from me."
Katalia raised an eyebrow, waiting for him to continue.
"He asked about my attribute, and you could practically see the hope in his eyes." Ain's voice turned slightly mocking, recalling the moment. "Like he was waiting for me to say something flashy, something that would turn heads." He let out a small, bitter chuckle. "But I didn't give him what he wanted."
Katalia's gaze sharpened as she leaned in a little closer, after all, she was also curious about Ain's Attributes. "What did you say?"
Ain paused for a moment before answering. "I told him it was Sense Augmentation. Nothing too impressive." He shrugged. "As soon as I said it, you could feel the disappointment in the room. He didn't even try to hide it. You'd think I'd crushed his dreams or something."
Katalia smiled faintly, her expression one of quiet amusement. "Figures. They always want something grand."
Ain smiled faintly, appreciating her casual, no-nonsense attitude. Unlike most of the people at the academy, Katalia didn't try to lecture or pressure him. She understood him in a way that others didn't.
They started walking together toward the academy grounds, where the warm afternoon sun filtered through the towering trees. Ain could sense that Katalia was waiting for him to say more.
"I've been thinking about something," Ain began, breaking the silence. "I've had enough of all this studying, the training, the classes. I want something different."
Katalia glanced at him, her eyebrow slightly raised. "And what exactly do you want to do?"
Ain stopped walking and turned to face her, his expression serious. "I've decided. I want to become an adventurer."
Katalia's golden eyes flickered with surprise for a moment before she quickly masked it with her usual calm demeanor. "An adventurer, huh?" She tilted her head slightly. "That's a dangerous path, you know. Not exactly a straightforward career choice."
"I know," Ain said, a smirk forming on his lips. "But that's why it sounds appealing. I'm tired of being stuck in one place, just studying and doing things by the book. I want to experience the real world, fight real monsters, and make my own way."
Katalia watched him for a few moments, her face revealing nothing. Then, to Ain's surprise, she smiled softly, though there was a hint of disappointment in her eyes.
"I can't say I'm thrilled with your decision," she admitted. "You've got a lot of potential, and you could've made a great contribution by staying here, studying and mastering your skills. But... I get it." She looked at him with a knowing gaze. "You've always been the type to follow your own path. I won't try to stop you."
Ain was relieved to hear her say that. He knew Katalia was one of the few people who genuinely cared about his well-being, and hearing her support meant more than he let on.
"Thanks, Katalia," he said, grateful. "I knew you'd understand."
Katalia nodded, her expression softening. "Just promise me one thing, Ain. Be careful out there. The world outside the academy is a lot harsher than you think. You'll need every bit of that Sense Augmentation and more if you want to survive."
Ain grinned. "Don't worry. I'll make sure I'm prepared. And who knows? Maybe I'll become even stronger than you."
Katalia chuckled, a playful glint in her eye. "You better." She turned to leave, her voice carrying a hint of her usual mysterious charm. "Because if you don't, I'll be the one to drag you back here myself."
Ain watched her walk away, feeling both excited and a little nervous about what lay ahead. His decision to become an adventurer marked a new chapter in his life—one filled with danger, uncertainty, and the thrill of the unknown. But for the first time in a long while, he felt free.
After all, He got Isekai'ed to a different world, yet he still has to go to school? thinking about it he's almost puke, He had enough of studying, even though this is a dangerous world but Ain has a cheat, plug-in system, which is why he decided to go on adventure.
