Chapter 8: CHAPTER 8

Heat rose on her cheeks the moment her name rolled off his lips. That caught her off guard!

Taking another peek at Sam, Zary stood up swiftly, wanting to move away from him as fast as she could before she lost her train of thoughts again. She could not believe that he could still be so seductive despite being in that adorable and fluffy outfit.

“I need to go out for a while. Wait here, okay? Don’t go anywhere. I’ll come back in a while.” She said in haste and grabbed her purse before she rushed out of the house, forgetting even to shut her robot down.

Thirty minutes later, she met her secretary in one of the high class restaurants in the city. Zary did not waste a moment longer and started the business talks the moment her secretary sat down. She did not even give her the chance to question her about her well-being.

After dismissing Cecille, her phone rang. It was the private investigator she had contacted earlier to find out about the company where Sam had come from.

“How long will you take to find it?” she asked after a short while of discussion over the phone. “It’s urgent. I need you to find it as soon as possible… Two days and I’ll double the money… deal. I’ll wait for your call in two days from now… Yes.”

She pressed on the end call button and put her phone into her pocket and left the restaurant. A luxury store caught her eye across the street. Sam’s displeased face flashed again in her mind, and she shook her head, smiling a little at the remembrance of it.

But a while later, she found herself in the store, shopping for clothes for the hot robot who was currently in her house. It still amused her that the robot was so picky about his clothes.

Within the hour, Zary had walked out of that store with bags of elegant and expensive suits and shirts that she thought will turn that fluffy bear into a whole new person once again. Hopefully this time he would be happier with this image she had planned out with these clothes. She could not help but feel excited to dress him up. She wanted to see his expression when he puts on these elegant clothes.

A small smile was curved on her face as she drove on, but the smile did not last.

Zary slammed her feet down on the breaks in an instant, her eyes circling wide now. Her breathing paused. She was suddenly paralyzed.

A car had suddenly cut in and now coming straight at her with such a fast speed. She’s going to… collide into it. Was she… going to die here? Seems like it…

She wished that the world would come screeching to a halt, but it did not. And all she could do was shut her eyes and wait for the inevitable.

Sam’s face flashed in her mind now of all things. She had forgotten to shut him down. He should be alright even if she no longer comes back anymore, right?

The sound of her screeching tires deafening in her ears and her car finally stopped. It was suddenly silent.

The collision that she had expected did not come. Or was she already dead?

Her heartbeat raced within her ribcage, sounding so loud in her ears.

Slowly, she cracked open her eyes.

Shock and disbelief kept her paralyzed. The blue car that was about to collide into her was now flipped off to the side of the road. Another car, which was black in colour, was now there and it looked like it was the one that had collided with the blue car. How? Where did that black car come from?

She swore she had looked into her rear view mirror a breath before that blue car changed tracks and there was no car behind her! She was a 100-percent sure of it!

So where did it come from? How come it was right in front of her car now? She blinked and shook her head in confusion.

Time passed and the rescue squad came. Zary finally stepped out of her car. The shock and confusion were still gripping her hard.

The driver of the blue car was declared dead on the spot. While the driver in the black car was... missing. The driver’s seat was empty when the medics arrived. And Zary swore that she did not see anyone leaving the black car.

It was already getting late when Zary finally reached home. The incident was still haunting her. When the police asked to see her dash cam, she was shocked to find that the incident was not recorded. Her dash cam appeared to be broken.

That added up to her confusion. Her car was brand new, and it was a luxury car she had bought just a few weeks ago. How could the dash cam be already broken? That was just not possible. She was the only one who drove this car.

No matter how she tried to think about it, what had just happened was illogical. But she was the only one who thought so.

A waft of something delicious surprised her the moment she stepped into her living room. She sniffed it appreciatively but still creased her brows. Someone was cooking in her house? Who…?

Her eyes suddenly widened. She dropped the bags of luxury clothes on the floor and took off at a run towards the kitchen.

“Sam –”

She halted at the sight of him facing the stove and standing there naturally as though he belonged there in her kitchen. His very naked and toned broad back was on full display for her to see, no longer covered with his fluffy outfit.

He looked over his shoulder and flashed her a tantalizing anf welcoming smile.

“Welcome back home, honey. Dinner would be done soon.” His pleasant, sexy voice echoed. W-hat? He know hoe to... wait... w-what did he just call me?
