Silence filled the room for what seemed like forever to Zary.

Sam did not answer her question immediately like he usually did, but his gaze had gone so intense and resolute that the atmosphere seemed to keep growing more and more palpable every second that ticked by.

Still, Zary held her ground, patiently waiting for Sam to open his mouth and say something. She promised herself that she was not going to give in this time, no matter what. She would get to the bottom of things if it was the last thing that she did.

After another stretch of silence, he finally parted his lips again. And Zary could feel that her breath that had been quite stuck earlier on while waiting for him to respond, had now lost that strained quality and could now breathe easier.
