The door was closed. But his heightened senses enabled him to listen to all that was happening on the other side with ease. A lady was crying and begging for help and Alastair frowned when he realized who it was. The few days when Eleanor had been at the castle, he had heard her annoying voice quite a lot of times and he could recognize her easily.
Eleanor was crying and her voice was filled with anguish. It sounded as if she was in intense pain and Alastair's frown deepened when the foreboding in his heart rose significantly. Taking a deep breath, he apparated to the other side and the moment he did so, a strong crimson light hit his eyes, making him flinch slightly.
Alastair was careful enough to not make any sound and he covered his eyes with his hand as he slowly peeked, adjusting his eyes to the light gradually. And what he saw, stunned him to the core. His body froze and his heart pounded loudly. It was so loud that Alastair could hear it too.
