Chapter 7: Mana
"Ahhh!" Kira yawned as he covered his mouth.
"Didn't you get enough sleep yesterday?" Kenji asked.
"Yeah." Kira nodded as he slumped at his desk. He only slept for five hours and it was not good for the body of a growing young man.
Too much information since he came into this world made him feel depressed. He couldn't keep up to this world. A few days ago he was an ordinary person in earth but now... he doesn't know anymore. Though it was exciting, it was also a bit tiring.
'I will adapt step by step.' Kira thought as he rested his head on his arm. He put those thoughts in the back of his head and cleared his mind from any unnecessary thoughts.
He felt someone tapped his shoulder. He turned his head and saw Yuki.
Yuki asked, "What are you doing?"
"Don't disturb me. I'm clearing all the evil things in my mind." Kira said in a tired voice.
"Huh? Have you gone insane?" Yuki asked.
"Of course not!" Kira replied. He then recalled the what happened yesterday. He looked at Yuki's face with a smirk.
"What are you looking at?" Yuki asked when he saw him looking at her in daze.
"Your face." Kira said.
"What's wrong with my face?" Yuki said as she checked her hair.
"Nothing, your still beautiful as always." Kira shook his head. He imagined her face if he told her about the "supernatural". He couldn't help but laughed when he imagined this scene.
Yuki blushed when she heard his words but quickly turned cold when she heard him laughed. She frowned and looked at him. She saw him holding back his laughter.
She sighed and wonder if this was really her friend. She feels that he changed somehow but she couldn't tell what it is.

After the class, Kira walked Yuki home before he head towards the dojo.
There, he trained nonstop until 6 o'clock. He was always serious in learning swordsmanship. It made the other disciples in the dojo admire him as he always work hard in practice.
Kira looked at his wristwatch and saw that it was already time. He bid farewell to his fellow disciple and the master of the dojo before he left.
He went to a store and bought a cigarette. He then went to the back alley and lit up his cigarette.
"Hooo~ I haven't smoke since I've arrived in this world." Kira said as he looked at the sky. The sky was already dark and the cold wind blew on his face.
"It's gonna rain..." Kira muttered as a droplet of water drip on his cheeks. He heard the sound of footsteps and he turned his head to look. He saw six man walking towards at his direction.
'I know where this is coming.' Kira thought as he blew the smoke coming from his cigarette. He tossed it on the ground and stepped on it.
"Oi! Oi! Oi! There's a new face here!" A man with a lot of piercing said.
"Brat! Where did you come from?" A man with blonde hair stepped forward and asked him.
"Didn't you see my uniform? I'm a student of Sagno High School." Kira replied as he looked at the man in the eyes. He was ready to fight these guys if they made a wrong move.
"You're still a student... Then don't smoke or else you will end up like us." The blonde man said.
"Eh...?" Kira felt that something was wrong.
"Right, don't copy us just because we look so cool. If we could just sell our coolness, I would already sell it long time ago." The man with a lot of piercing said.
"Eh...?" Kira was speechless. He thought that it would lead to a brawl so he already prepared himself but it seems that's not always the case.
"Tell us your story, I'll lend you an ear. Years ago, when I was still a student, a girl rejected me and it broke my heart. No one comfort me so I grabbed on alcohol to forget the things that she did to me. When I came back into my senses I already fell deep in the abyss." The blonde man said with a melancholic face.
"Hais..." Kira sighed in relief. These guys were not that bad.
"Brat! What's your name?" The man with a lot of piercing asked him.
"Kira." Kira said.
"I'm Jack also called Smiling Dragon in this district." The man with a lot of piercing introduced himself as Jack.
'What the fuck is Smiling Dragon?!' Kira had a dumbfounded expression on his face. He didn't know how to react to that one.
Then, the rest of the thugs introduced theirself.

"Hays... I've met a group of strange people." Kira sighed as he walked towards the woods at the back of the school.
"Oh~ it seems that you've already decided it." A voice sounded out of nowhere.
Kira looked ahead and saw the middle-aged man suddenly appeared in front of him.
"Yeah. I've already made up my mind." Kira said.
"Good." The middle-aged man nodded his head in satisfaction.
"First, I'll tell you something about this world."

Kira learned from the middle-aged man that the world of "supernaturals" was a world that ordinary folk can't go in. Since ancient times, human already had various types of powers that they could manifest. The legends and myths in the book were all true.
In this huge world, there's many hidden island that wasn't listed in the map. The people with super powers stay there. Sometimes they go out in the world and they became a great person like founder of a great business enterprise, etc.
There's an organization that protected this country from "supernaturals". There's also some terrorist group with super powers and that were we come in. Power user would handle the other power user but sometimes they would abused their powers and kill normal person. Still, it's not easy to control those people.
They're everywhere. It's just they hardly use their power in this land.
Every power user used the special energy called Mana. Mana was a special energy that they utilized to produce supernatural phenomenon.
...
"That's it." The middle-aged man paused for a moment, then he added, "Now that you know some basic knowledge about our world, it's time to teach you about mana."
Kira looked at him and nodded.
"The mana is always around us but you can't feel it in your condition so the best way to teach you is..." The middle-aged man didn't finish his sentence as he appeared in front of Kira.
'Wha-' Kira was stunned when he saw the middle-aged man appeared in front of him in an instant.
"to let you directly feel it!" The middle-aged man gathered his mana in his palm and struck Kira with it.
Bang!
Kira was pushed a few meters before he get back on his feet. He feel a unknown energy entered his body when the middle-aged man struck him. The middle-aged man didn't use much force but he still flew a few meters away.
He then saw a ball of light heading straight towards him. He tried to avoid it but the ball of light was so fast that he couldn't made it in time.
Bang!
'Damn! It hurts!' Kira greeted his teeth as the ball of light hit his body.
Swoosh!
The middle-aged man once again appeared in front of him and grabbed his head.
Thud!
"Put away all the other thoughts in the back of your head. Just concentrate on the feeling of mana." The middle-aged man said as he poured his mana on Kira's body.
"Argh!" Kira gritted his teeth. He felt like thousand of ants were biting every part of his body. It was extremely painful.
After a few minutes the middle-aged man released his gripped on his head.
Thud!
Kira felt on his knees as he tried to catch his breath.
The middle-aged man looked at him and said, "Sit down in your most comfortable position." Then, he sat down in front of Kira in a lotus position.
Kira looked at the middle-aged man and copied his position.
"Close your eyes and feel the presence of mana in your surroundings." The middle-aged man said.
Kira closed his eyes and obeyed the middle-aged man's words.
"The mana in the nature is calm and hard to distinguish compare when it use to attack. As you have experience, the mana is different when human or other creatures uses it. It became violent or harmful to other people except the user."
Kira listened to his words. He tried to remember the feeling of the mana. There's still a residual mana of the middle-aged man left in his body. He tried his best to familiarize himself to this feeling. He then started to feel his surroundings but he still couldn't feel the mana.
Just like the middle-aged man said. The mana in the nature was too calm and hard to distinguish. It was peaceful like a calm water. No, it was more like inside the house were he couldn't feel the air around him but he just know that it was around him.
Suddenly, he heard a familiar sound in his head.
*Ding*

Kira felt something as he could now feel the presence of mana around him. He also somehow could control it.
The middle-aged man was surprised when he saw Kira managed to control the mana this fast.
"This speed of learning..."
He took a deep breath and said, "Now, carefully control the mana and lead it inside your body. Lead it into your heart. Your heart will become a bottle to stock your mana. The mana will recognize you as their master after some times. As the mana recognize you, it will change its properties just like mine and became different to the mana in the nature."
Kira listened to the middle-aged man's words. He followed his instructions carefully not to make any mistake.
