Olivia released her grip on the maid's trembling neck, her fingers gradually relaxing as she took a deliberate step back.
With her emerald eyes locked onto the maid, Olivia seemed to convey an unspoken warning simmering beneath the surface.
The maid, now gasping for air, clutched her throat, wide-eyed with shock and fear.
She never expected this young miss, rumoured to be very weak, to possess such strength and ruthlessness.
Olivia's lips curled into a cold smile as she brushed past the maid, her voice dripping with icy resolve. "I'll go wherever I please. No one can keep me caged."
Olivia then proceeded to continue down the corridor, her thoughts racing.
From her peripheral vision, Olivia could see that the huge man she had come across seemed slightly taken aback.
He had moved his massive frame to one side so that she could pass. Something Olivia gladly accepted.
Olivia needed answers, and the old woman held the key to unravelling the mysteries of this strange world.
However, Sebastian was getting in her way.
If only Olivia had followed Sebastian, she would have been able to ask her questions right after the old woman regained consciousness.
As she walked, Olivia avoided gawking at the extravagance of the villa's interior.
Her mind raced with different questions pertaining to who Jolene was.
"He called Jolene his wife, however, even a mere maid dares look down on her."
"Jolene, tell me, how much more useless are you?"
The words of the maid echoed in Olivia's mind, leading her to another question: "How can Jolene's existence tarnish the young man's reputation?"
Olivia needed to piece everything together and understand the reason for her transmigration.
Turning a corner, Olivia nearly collided with a servant carrying a tray of delicate porcelain teacups.
Olivia skillfully avoided the collision, her eyes narrowing as she studied the servant.
"Where is the old woman?" Olivia asked, her voice firm.
Olivia felt she couldn't afford any more delays.
As Olivia pondered various matters in such a short period since separating from the maid and the man with the huge frame, she welcomed the arrival of a headache.
Touching her forehead to alleviate her sudden pain, Olivia inquired, "Is the Young Master back?"
"Which Young Master, Miss Jolene?" The servant responded respectfully.
"The Fifth Young Master."
"He is not back, Miss Jolene," the servant replied.
Hearing the servant's words, Olivia realised she couldn't do anything related to the old woman.
With no other option but to wait, Olivia figured she might as well read the book the old woman had given her, hoping to find some insight on how to return to Xi Village.

When Sebastian got out of the car after reaching the hospital, the driver also got out, carrying the old woman, and they both rushed into the hospital.
Sebastian was given immediate attention due to his status as the founder and president of WangZ Innovations, a successful tech startup that specialised in artificial intelligence and robotics.
Sebastian's interest in improving healthcare through technology was evident in the new inventions that his company had developed.
Sebastian and his company had provided support to various hospitals, including the one he had just rushed into.
As two nurses approached to check on the old woman, who had now been placed on the bed and was breathing faintly, the doctor, having heard of Sebastian's impromptu appearance, didn't hesitate to meet with him.
While Sebastian paced outside the ward, his mind filled with questions about what Jolene could have done to make the old woman collapse, his attention was abruptly redirected when the doctor intervened.
"Good day, Mr. Wang. It is quite unexpected to see you here. Shall we take a walk to my office? There, you can sit comfortably, and I will offer you—"
"Doctor," Sebastian's flat voice interrupted, leaning more towards the cold side and filled with slight irritation, leaving the doctor standing before him stunned.
"What is your true profession? Chatting or attending to the patients?" Sebastian asked.
Before the doctor could respond, his mind torn between what might have irritated the young man and how to pacify him, Sebastian's phone rang.
Bowing respectfully, Sebastian answered the call and moved away from the doctor's presence.
"Sean."
"I've investigated the man, President Wang."
Sebastian looked around, ensuring he had some privacy before proceeding. "What did you find?"
"Our suspected target was hired by Miss Jolene's stepsister, Miss Allison. Jax Xu is a private investigator known for his ruthless tactics. He is relentless in his pursuits and has the support of several influential figures."
Sebastian fell silent for a moment, his fist clenched before he let out a sigh. "So, that useless woman hasn't given up yet, even after attempting to harm her own sister?"
"Yes, President Wang. Miss Allison appears determined. She is well aware that Miss Jolene now resides with you, as rumours travel swiftly."
"Find out more about him, especially his weaknesses, and..."
"I'm afraid I can't gather more information at the moment—"
Sebastian abruptly ended the call before Sean could finish his sentence.
Sebastian cared little about how his secretary might obtain more information.
All Sebastian knew was that he needed more details.
Jolene faced more adversaries than he had initially thought.
However, Sebastian wasn't about to allow Jolene to be stripped of her rights, especially in her current vulnerable state.
