Chapter 44: Chapter 44 - Wolf and Wolves

"So what's the information that you have selectively withdrew from me about ranking up?" Shawn asked as he waited patiently for the system's reply.

*As you continue to rank up, you utilize more energy to use in maintaining your worlds. This is the reason why you were asked to create a timer

"So what if I didn't create a timer?" Shawn asked.

*Then the amount of stress that your body could experience will be excessive*

"So literally each time I spend here saps the remaining energy left from an already stressed day?"

*Yes* The system replied.

"But wouldn't that drain the limit that my body can take?"

*The system is careful not to drain too much from your body energy which is why you were given two hours before you were brought here*

"So you mean that my already gathered strength is already being sapped?" Shawn said.

*Not really*

"Huhn! What do you mean?" Shawn was confused.

*"....."*

The answer that the system provided was more than enough for Shawn to just sigh. He hadn't ranked up enough.

"Whatever, let's just get down into today's business?" Shawn gave up on trying to gain information from the system. He'll just have to rank up so that he could gain access to even more information. The system won't completely sap his remaining body energy right?

Right?

"Let's see what exactly we have got to do in today's 1,500 years of history"

And like that, the watch of history continued.

At the Northern continent,

The great river Islen flows from the center highlands to the south eastern plains, the pristine water that comes from the river is believed to contain a lot of magical properties by those who live near the tributaries and flow regions.

This great river appeared a few decades ago and had changed the dynamics of the region.

One of those who have supernatural beliefs in the river are the long lost distinct siblings of one of the mana beast races the wolves once ruled by Blan, the Ancestral Wolf.

A few metres from the flow of the great river a great numbering of rocks lied in an arranged circular fashion. In the middle of this orderly arrangement lied a large rock. A large wolf lied on the surface of this rock.

"The Head Wolf Shaman" A wolf that was about to step into the area covered by the rocks said.

"Do not come anywhere close Fenris. The sacred land is not to be touched by anyone other than the Thirty Seven Shamans" The Wolf on the large rock in the middle said.

"Heather. Can't the most powerful Ancestral Child be allowed to enter the domain of the Head Shaman?. The Bloodline of the Ancestral Wolf is not something to remove" Fenris said.

"Blood is thicker than Water. One must not draw a line between natural inheritance and granted blessings especially not when contesting the rules made by an higher being" Fenris added as he looked at the large rock that heather lay on.

After the great departing, the culture of the Wolves of the Plains took a large turn of revolution. The wolves began to practice shamanism and worship of the great ancestors.

The belief that the Ancestor Wolf of the Grey Wolf Clan was the closest to the world creator and the twelve ancestors known as the Ancestral Wolves who were under him and obeyed his every instruction.

Those who dealt with this were known as the Ancestral Children, leaders of the Ancestral Wolves and the Elder Child, who was known to possess a few powers related to the Ancestral Wolf.

They were made stronger than the average wolves and had different fortes along with skills granted to them by their Ancestral Figure.

All this happened shortly after the great departing when Blan was made an Higher Being. One of the requirements for this was the Ancestral Children and the Elder Child to have a lineage with the Ancestral Wolf and Wolves.

The Shamans were individuals who had a high affinity for the energies to the extent that they were blessed by the Ancestral Wolf to utilize sensory energy in majestic ways including communicating with the Ancestral Wolf and the Twelve Ancestors.

They were also known to showcase powerful skills related to healing and divination as well as some special abilities that dealt with any of the energies that they were in tuned with.

This new breakthrough revolutionized the clan and raised it's status in the south eastern plains. But with great power comes great responsibility.

"You Ancestral Children are always getting obsessed and arrogant about how your helm of your power is high. But I have no fear of any of you" Heather said.

"Heather are you challenging me?" Fenris brown eyes released a glint.

"If the 36 shaman wolves do not dare to correct you, I will" Heather did not back down.

"A good medium to teach you your place would be a revocation" She said.

"You don't need to do such if you have power" Fenris said as he proceeded to step inside the circle of rocks.

"Your wish then" Heather replied as she stared at Fenris who had committed a taboo.

Heather's silver eyes suddenly glowed as the rocks in the circle formation changed from their original colour to white.

"Fenris, the elder child. You have broken the laws which your predecessors have followed. This is unacceptable and therefore you shall be punished" A thunderous voice reverberated from Heather.

Her silver skin released an intimating aura that was visible to the naked eye.

"Voice of the Ancients. How nice" Fenris mocked. He howled loudly and a fiery aura emanated from his grey skin. This aura was strong to the extent that it dies his skin red.

Heather harrumphed as she raised her paw and began to create the city . She smashed her palm down on the rock that she was on and a generated a loud shock wave.

Fenris could feel the force of the attack. He tried to leap out of the attack zone but he ended up getting hit by the shock wave and blasted out of the circle rocks.

Fenris growled at Heather before he bellowed a loud howl and generated a sonic boom towards the Head Wolf Shaman.

A grin appeared at Heather's wolf face as she swiped her left paw towards the attack. The left paw glowed as the sensory energy was utilized. "Sensory Barrier!" She yelled.

The left paw collided with the sonic boom and deflected it somewhere else.

The deflected attack hit the area outside the circular rocks, causing flying debris. Her eyes glowed as she opened her mouth and a round ball composed mainly of mana formed inbeetween her jaws as she released it towards her opponent.

Fenris growled even more as his brown eyes had turned red "Fire howl!". He howled as the fiery aura that surrounded him gathered at the front of his mouth and blasted the incoming energy ball.

This collision caused a large explosion on the ground.

"So you came here with the intention to kill me?!" Heather's voice boomed.

"You finally noticed" Fenris replied.

"You're only standing a chance against me because you are within your territory" He added as he compressed a red mana ball at the base of his mouth and shot it towards the rocks that made the circle.

"Pfft" Heather scoffed.

The red mana ball struck the rocks with a powerful force.

Debris spread and the area was covered with smoke. "Once the rocks are scattered, the weakness should manifest." Fenris said.

The smoke subsided and revealed a clear view to the naked eye of the effects of the attack. The rocks were still glowing and in their white phase but one could see that a part of it had been charred and blasted off from the rocks surface.

"Hmmm, it seems the weaknesses of your power has revealed itself." Fenris smiled.

Heather who was overflowing with power growled. She has sensed that a part of her power had been sapped off. Her intimidating aura had lost some of it's feel. And she knew that Fenris could also sense it.

She had used her skill 'Burning Conversion' to burn the sensory energy that she had gathered from entering the sensory realm and earned while performing her shamanistic duties. 5 ounces of sensory energy brings in 30 seconds of a large influx in mana power for a wolf shaman of her level.

For the past 12 minutes, she had burned 120 ounces of sensory energy to use in the fight. Apart from burning, she was using her sensory energy for her divination to predict his next attacks.

Overall, if the battle continued for long, the situation won't look good for her.

"I'll wipe that smug look off your face!" She yelled as she opened her mouth and began to shoot mana balls towards fenris.

The mana balls flew at a fast speed towards the Elder Child who began to run and jump while avoiding the destructive mana balls that caused debris anywhere it touched. "You're already losing your ground" Fenris smiled as he howled and released a sonic boom while running.
