A lot of people can be seen gathered at a location. Some of them wore robes of grey and masks hiding their faces.
Most people here have nothing much to cover themselves. They look deprived and are indeed so. There are collars around their necks signifying them as slaves.
Yes, there are slaves. Though most kingdoms and empires had outlawed the such practice, there are many regions in this world where it is still legal. Some regions have strict restrictions on trade, while some observed freehand.
This caused illegal slavery inside the regions where slavery is illegal.
Here the situation is different as the forest doesn't come under any human jurisdiction. This is one of the nine forbidden zones of the world.
Many kingdoms and empires of the continent share borders with this zone. Though many claim this as part of their land, no war happened except for some small individual skirmishes.
Even if they win against one, there are too many to contend with. Moreover, even if one of them is victorious it is not like they can enter the zone easily and exploit the resources.
Even an 8-star powerhouse wouldn't casually enter the inner regions of a forbidden zone but this group of people made it into the core of the zone on purpose looking for something.
The blue-robed came running to the spot followed by three other men in grey robes.
When one of the men saw the blue-robed one he immediately bowed and said, "Master, you wouldn't believe this. We may have found more than we anticipated."
When the blue-robed man heard this, his happiness knew no bounds. They took these risks to enter the core region of a forbidden zone to dig for one. If they get one more it would be a surprise but the words he heard are saying that there is more than one surprise. He hoped that they would all bring good benefits for him.
The organization he worked for is based on merits. One can reach the next level on how much they contributed to the organization.
This is a lie and many members who lived long know this.
Most newcomers are used as cannon fodders for senior plans. So there would be no way for one to rise through such things. The one thing that can make their ambitions come true is by backstabbing other members.
This is the reason why most senior-level members try not to introduce their juniors to other senior-level members.

Many considered this a myth as the stories told were crossing what is considered normal.
This group is not here to let the world know the truth about the existence of the ancient civilization but the weapon in one of those mythical stories told.
The people of this civilization have reached a peak in every aspect of the study. There was no one who can contend with them in this world and so they aimed for the stars and this proved to be their downfall.
It was told that they met an enemy that they couldn't defeat. In desperation, they built a huge weapon to kill the enemy. No one knows what happened after that.
The enemy disappeared as well the civilization and the huge landmass broke into continents.
As years went by the knowledge about the civilization was forgotten and was marked as a myth. These stories also say that the forbidden zones are forbidden because the lost cities of the ancient civilization are there.
The war that decimated them caused something that made the areas around them to be marked as forbidden.
In the beginning, many powerhouses tried to find the secrets of this civilization. Even a single secret could push their power forward at a lot of levels.
Though there was a lot of searching for these lost cities during the period of Ascending, they ended in vain. People stopped the search for the lost cities and were truly marked as 'Lost'.
This group finally found one of these lost cities. As mentioned in the stories, they found one in one of the forbidden zones.
The reason why no one found was that the cities were covered with an energy that made the areas around them forbidden zones. Moreover, they were buried inside the earth after the world broke.
Everyone looked on the surface and at most dug to depths that didn't reach the buried level.
After years of work, this group of people did what no one has ever achieved before. They found traces of the lost ancient civilization.
The blue-robed man spoke, "Quick, give me a torch. I'm going to see what benefits we are going to obtain here."
His thoughts were to absorb anything that is available here. Even though the city is in ruins, there should be something of value here for him. Only if it is too much for him would he share this with his master.
Grabbing the torch he quickly got into the pit using the man-operated elevator.
