Chapter 37: Unspeakable Secret
Amelia went to check the walls and found they are made in special materials that block any probing eyes. Be it spiritual or physical eyes. Looking at the freezing people she decided. "I will bring you all back. Depending on what is inside, you will be compensated accordingly. These doors need experts to handle and not even space powers can cut them open.
A while ago Miko had let his team of 5 to use space blades and cut open the doors to no avail. "Now that I know the location I can teleport here directly. But first look above ground for any grain stored."
They left for exploring while she called old Mo. The call connected but the man didn't speak. "Did you forget your hearing aid old Mo? I always remind you that you should remember these things. How about your false teeth then? Did you remember to bring them or that is why you are not speaking. Didn't you marry a young wife recently? Shouldn't she be responsible for you?"
"Can you shut up! I have guests in the office so answering was not convenient."
"Guests? Are you forgetting what I did to the last people you called guests old Mo? How much blood do you want to on your hands?" Amelia asked unhurried. Old Mo started regretting answering the phone.
"Should I introduce myself to these 'guests' you honor by not speaking after answering your communicator?" The tone doesn't sound to be threatening but the people listening are sure it is a threat.
"That won't be necessary leader, they are from the Qin family."
"The royals want more tribute? Let me guess, they want to sent my people to the war they started on purpose? Tell them no. If they refuse to leave execute protocal Libra."
"Then, the relationship with the Qin family?"
"Sigh, old Mo. We have known each other for so long. Do you still not understand my nature? I told you you are getting older and older....still marrying young women, tsk." Amelia shut the communicator off.
Old Mo is left with an awkward situation. The silent gentlemen didn't say anything but he knows they are angry.
"Cough....our people used to be nurses and doctors. They really have no idea how to fight, sigh...the leader is just young." He said this but he is showing them the door.
No way, he was having a nice time at home with his new wife when he heard an envoy from the Qin family seeks an audience. He could only swallow his anger and come to listen to their nonsense about fighting for a brighter future to unite as one.
The leader has helped him immensely just now. She concluded a pointless debated with a single phone call. He is not even minding the teasing because now he can go home and enjoy the wife he bought with so much money.
A while later the two men met with the spy who had been staying in the base as a guest for a long time. One of the men looked at
the scholarly young man and asked.
"How is it? Do they have a lot of secrets?"
"The base has a way to activate powers for those with dormant ability." The young man took out pictures of the machines he had secretly took a while ago.
"Once activated, the base uses this to improve the abilities faster." He took out a purified crystal nuclei. "A level one purified crystal nuclei is equal in power to two level two crystal nucleus. The people in the base are very powerful but they are not trained soldiers." The young man reported proudly.
The two men looked at the purified crystal nuclei and couldn't find out how it can be done. The power inside really is enhanced.
"This crystal nuclei can be eaten directly or absorbed normally. They say it was the base leader who did it. She also found a way to make every single water ability user in her army able to fight using their water power. This is not something many could do."
"I tried getting some of the soldiers drunk so I can enter their minds and investigate but nothing. It's as if everyone who works for the base besides the factory workers and the farmers are all holding on to an unspeakable secret that is so precious they had to create a mind shield." The man finished his report.
"What else? Have you seen this leader?" One of the men asked remembering the voice that didn't take the Qin family serious at all.
"Not personally but everyone says she is a young girl with very beautiful features."
"Anything else?"
"They are chasing me out tomorrow. The base has closed off accepting new members so I have to leave."
"Did you find out whether the smart bracelets came from this place?"
"They said it is delivered by the base leader in batches and sold here at a lower price because she buys many at a time. I counted approximately 5000 people with a smart bracelet."
"What's with the gate lock and key? What is it?"
"They said the leader said it will help catch an infection sooner .....and thieves."
"Alright we should all go back tomorrow. We will leave separately."
"Alright." The young man left.
"What do you think?" One man looked at the other one in question.
"At least we found the source of their pride. This purified crystal nuclei. Imagine if you had thousands of these? You can grow an army faster just like she did. Now it is just a matter of time before we find out how she purifies them."
This is why Amelia didn't hide the purified crystal nuclei, it will be her shield to hide all the other resources she is giving her people. These people think they have grasped her main secret but they are being led by the nose.
Amelia teleported all the people she had gone out with back to the base and then went to Zhu Li's workshop and found her busy coding. The hands are so fast on the keyboard the fingers dace leaving an after image as it it is not real.
"Miss Zhu really is an all rounder. Do you think you can teach me computer hacking and coding in the future? I'm willing to teach you something valuable too." Amelia
An amused chuckle escaped Zhu Li's full lips. She looked at Amelia who had sat on her side desk without permission. "What can interest me, that you can teach I wonder?"
"A curious mind like yours, I bet you would love to learn ancient spiritual language. It is the language of the universe. We use it to craft artifacts and make them do the impossible."
The previous amusement on Zhu Li's face became interest. "Do you mean like how you made this ring?" She showed her a space ring.
"Yeah."
"Deal. But why would you want to learn?" Zhu Li didn't stop her work and continued coding.
"I have a feeling the future will lean more on advanced technology and I don't want to be bullied." Amelia said truthfully. She doesn't want aliens to do as they please in her home.
"Bully you? Who would have such guts? I heard you cut a man in half and then made his companions carry the leaking corpse outside the base." It is a flat statement with no accusation.
Amelia sighed. "Those are simpler times where violence can carry you through all the hardships. The future will not be like that."
"You seem to be worried about something?"
"The world is expanding and hardening. All these new resources will probably bring more trouble. This is why I try to make everyone stronger faster. I just don't know if it is enough." Amelia found herself open up to this stranger.
"You have done well. The world is big, you can't carry it all on your shoulders. You need help." Zhu Li said.
"I have you." She said and Zhu Li saw a genuine smile on her face. She is stunned. Is she so important?
"Your contribution is not small in lessening my worries. However, You are also just one person. This is why I want you to teach me so I can help and adjust in the future." The words are full of sincerity and determination that reminded Zhu Li of her brother.
"I think I found my brother. I previously set up a face recognition software on every social network in the smart bracelet and a passing person in the central base matched his new face 89%. I was going to ask if you can help. I know this is too much...."
"I will have shadow guards sent to you at once. Like I said before, don't hesitate if you need something. I don't make empty statements Miss Zhu." Amelia smiled.
"I would appreciate it greatly."
"If they don't find him this time, send them again next time. This is their job to sneak around and find what I am looking for." Amelia assured her.
"I had come to you because I couldn't open a door. I don't know if you could help? Brute strength and normal strength didn't work. That place seems to be built to withstand powers. I would destroy it with a talisman but I have no idea what could be locked inside. What if a horde of mutated spiders crawl out?"
Amelia shuddered as she spoke. Zhu Li couldn't help laughing at her. She is a base leader with immense power but is still creeped out by spiders.
"Can I see this door?" She left the program she just ran to continue on its own and stood up. Amelia gave her a pair of gloves and warm boots. Then a fluffy hat that covers both ears.
Zhu Li took all the things offered and put them on. Amelia then teleported them outside the same large doors.
Zhu Li got to work checking the small key pad with buttons to enter an entry code. She took out a tablet it seems to be put together by hand by her. A few bee sized robots came out of the sides pulling wires and inserted into the opening that Zhu Li just made on top of the key pad.
She started typing and a few minutes the large doors open. Amelia stood in front of her with a long knife drawn. Feeling insecure, she took a number of talismans and pasted them on the girl's body.
They entered, the place seems to be made entirely of this special material. It is dusty though, as if not a living soul has been in here for years.
The doors shut after they entered and lights came on. It became bright and they could see further into the corrido. There doesn't seem to be anything as they walk until they reached an elevator.
Zhu Li opened it the same way but it seems to require a key to reach the lower floors. Zhu Li still opens it and the lift went down, they got down and the door opened the place was dark but the lights started coming on lighting the entire place brightly.
There is an area below where they came out from. Seeing what is seated there quietly covered in dust made Amelia widen her eyes.
"A spaceship." They both said it at the same time.
"That thing has been sitting there for decades. It seems to have been forgotten. I bet the Qin family got the designs from there." Amelia said but she made no move to go down. Zhu Li on the side seems very uncomfortable and she kept frowning.
"Are you sick? Is it this place? Should we leave?" Amelia pulled her toward the elevator. Zhu Li shook her hand away.
"It's....too late." She passed out directly after showing the whites of her eyes. Amelia carried her up and to the main door. The elevator brought her to the entrance. But without Zhu Li how can she get out? She took out a soft bed and used her power to scan for anomalies and found it in her crystal nuclei. It seems to be cracking.
What in the world? She took out a mental fruit and squeezed it into the girl's mouth. She is passed out so Amelia had to be patient even though the mental fruit juice kept coming out. She closed Zhu Li's nose and the mouth opened naturally. She finally drank the juice crushed from an entire mental fruit.
She also used her plant power to heal it as much as she can. She had her power wrapping Zhu Li most of the time because her expression would be very peaceful when Amelia took it back, Zhu Li would frown and make painful expressions.
She kept feeding her mental power fruits until the cracks began to heal and the core started emitting several powerful lights before being docile again. Looking at the crystal nuclei in Zhu Li's head she felt like she is watching something very beautiful making it hypnotic.
Seeing that a misfortune had turned into a lucky encounter for Zhu Li, exhaustion finally claimed her and she passed out next the Zhu Li. The bed is big enough anyways but the problem is that she ended up face down on Zhu Li's upper arm making it numb.
When Zhu Li woke up she felt like her arm was gone and in its place is a heavy object. She then heard soft snoring sounds and became alert. Thinking back, she is sure her crystal nuclei exploded from overload.
She closed her eyes and became stunned seeing the colorful and much larger crystal nuclei inside her brain. Did leader save her? She chuckled, how can anyone rebuild a crystal nuclei after it has shattered?
She wondered if there are cameras in this place so she can see what happened. In a room far away from their location with several computers, they all turned on and a series of codes seemed to be transferring data. Zhu Li who is on a bed received all the data from the files. She is not surprised by this action.
Technology seems to communicate with her and will take the initiative to send information into her brain. In the video Amelia carried her and took out a bed then placed her on it. She took out a mysterious fruit and kept trying to feed her.
At last she closed her nose and Zhu Li finally finished the fruit. She spoke to herself. "One is not enough? What exactly could hurt your crystal nuclei so bad that so many of my precious mental fruits will be cleaned up by fixing it?"
Amelia spoke but she didn't stop taking out another one. "If you die after eating so many expensive resources won't you be ashamed to face the king of hell, wait, where do you think you will be allocated if you die? I have to come find you to settle your account." Amelia spoke on and on making Zhu Li twitch her lips.
Old Mo was right, the leader loves money. When Zhu Li didn't wake up Amelia got anxious and started changing her words.
"Okay, good girl. Do me a favor and wake up. You don't have to pay the 800 000 crystal nucleus you owe me for the increase in your mental power. Just quickly wake up."
Amelia saw the pained expression on Zhu Li's face and covered her in her healing ability. "You are lucky to sleep in this young lady's embrace. Do you feel like a warm blanket of friendship is covering you? That's my affection making you feel well in your hour of need." Amelia became more and more tired as time went by.
She kept yawning and the comments didn't come anymore. Until a dazzling light came from Zhu Li's head and Amelia became sure she is fine. She couldn't take out another bed from the space, all her power is drained so she crawled into the other side of the bed.
"I don't want to hurt you. What if you wake up with my foot on your face, wouldn't you use your robot to kill me? Ah! This lady is tired but, endure my feet for a while, I tolerated watching you eat all my mystical fruits." She touched her chest .
"Ahhh! It's still painful." She hasn't adjusted herself nicely when she fell directly on Zhu Li's arm.
