Chapter 33: The nothern war 2

-

*Boooooom*

Following the explosion, a second and a third one resound in the valley.

These explosions, coming directly from the traps installed by Fram, cause a deafening noise.

The power of the explosions blows away part of the enemy army, including their leader, who dies on the spot.

A cloud of dust followed, mixing with the ambient fog and the darkness of the night, deteriorating the visibility, which made the enemy army panic even more.

Following these explosions, most of the men of the enemy army are terrified, not knowing what is happening, they try to regroup as best they can.

Moreover, most of the enemy horses become excited and try by all means to flee the area, although the soldiers try to control them, they flee in all directions and take with them a large number of enemies, dead under the horses' hooves.

Again, we can see the ingenuity of Fram, thanks to these explosives, the trend is completely reversed, and although a small part of the enemy army is killed in the explosion, about 700 men, the panic that follows mixed with exhaustion, lack of visibility, and the disappearance of the general, will allow Fram to turn the fight in their favor.

Still under the fire of Baranor's archers, the soldiers try to protect themselves, but it is while moving that some of them fall into traps, deep pits with wooden stakes.

Then, Fram activates the second part of his plan.

Using his telekinetic power, he makes the Olog-hai army led by Wulf float above the wall and drops them right in front of the enemy army.

The objective is to strike hard when they are disoriented, and once they are regrouped, to withdraw and let the archers do their work.

Following Wulf's group, Baranor jumps off the wall and runs towards the enemy, leaving Fram to lead the defenders on the wall.

The atmosphere is dense, and the enemy soldiers try to reform the lines, but suddenly, one of them looking carefully at the fog sees an Olog approaching at high speed, then another and finally an army.

Frightened, he lets out a scream before warning his allies "AHHHHHH, OLOGS-HAI!"

Following his scream of distress, his companions turn in the direction of the noise, and they too see an army of Olog-hai swooping down on them.

But it's too late, and only a second after that shout of desperation, the first Olog hits the enemy lines.

Eager to slay men, the Olog-hai break through the enemy lines with ease.

Destroying everything in their path, these more than formidable troops are invincible behemoths in the eyes of the enemy troops, who can only die under the blows of these war beasts.

The enemy army is overwhelmed by the charge, they are struggling to reform their lines, yet the Olog-Hai charge leaves a trail of death behind them and advances at full speed.

Although they try to resist, thanks to the Olog-hai's armour, the latter are strong and their bloodlust leads to carnage in the enemy ranks.

Seeing these Olog-hai destroying the enemy lines, Wulf can only be satisfied.

Deciding to enter the fray himself, he speeds up and hits a soldier in his path.

"Wuhohoho this is war! Come on guys cut them up!" He says, brandishing his cursed sword.

Acting as a war cry, the words of the latter boost the Olog-hai who charges harder and harder into the enemy lines spilling more blood with every step they take.

Still under the constant harassment of the archers from the walls, Khand's soldiers are in a more than difficult position.

But gradually recovering from the initial shock of the explosives and the death of the general, some of them are reinvigorated and move to engage the Olog-Hai, wanting to stop them.

The second in command of the army, a fearsome warrior is part of it, seeing the absence of his general, he takes command and orders.

"Pull yourself together! The legions of Khands will triumph, fight, make front, we are more numerous, we have the advantage, do not let fear overwhelm you!"

The soldiers hearing their new leader pull themselves together and brandish their spears to pierce the hard skin of the Olog-Hai.

The latter then meet more resistance, the enemy lines are again formed and it becomes hard to advance, even if the latter, in their thirst for combat, continue to exert constant pressure on the enemy lines.

Baranor, on the other hand, uses his abilities to the fullest.

Very quickly he cuts several enemies and is able to use prodigious strength behind each of his blows.

He uses his abilities to the fullest in order to reduce the number of enemies, although Khand's soldiers see this formidable enemy Baranor, they simply cannot follow his movements.

One of them tries to stop him with his long spear, but Baranor is very agile, dodges the blow and decapitates him before rushing towards another enemy without stopping.

Thus, the enemy soldiers dies in numbers, but despite the combined efforts of the soldiers of the kingdom of light, they are dealing with the elite of Khand.

Soon, the counter-attack begins.

Indeed, the troops that until now formed the front line were only normal soldiers, but the heart of this army is composed of elite soldiers.

In fact, the royal guard of Khand is present, as well as the black horsemen of the variags, but also the fearsome and valiant spearmen of Varhad, a region known for its warlike people and its gladiators' arenas.

These soldiers, accustomed to wars, especially against the inhabitants in the east of their territories, are not frightened by the different events that have occurred.

The latter, with the breakthrough of the Olog-Hai, finally have the space to move.

Very quickly under the orders of their general, they set up and form a solid front.

The Olog-Hai were immediately stopped in their fury by these formidable warriors.

Many stories and tales describe some of the Variag people as bloodthirsty and devoid of all humanity.

It's a particluar group of people, living together and following the laws of the Morgoth's cult.

They are living in a reclused region of Khands and are practicing a lot of dark rites, granting them some unknow powers from unknow sources.

These people, having fallen into perversion and into the cult of Morgoth, have lost all notion of society and are nothing but killing machines.

Under the dark designs of the dark lord, they have been called in as reinforcements to attack the kingdom of light and take it back.

These dreadful soldiers are called the death singers.

Their presence, although unknow by most in the west of Mordor, is well known in the east.

The men further east and the people living in these lands fear these flesh-eaters, terrifying and terribly powerful, drawing their power from their cult, they are one of the most feared forces of Sauron's allies.

Entering the mass, they face directly the Olog-Hai of Wulf.

And, just a few moments after their arrival, the first Olog falls under the blows of the general, then thanks to the elite units, the forces in presence are reinvigorated and push in order to bring down the frightening beasts that are the Olog-Hai.

Fearing the worst and seeing through the new general's tactics, Baranor sounds the retreat.

"We're retreating! Towards the wall, don't let yourselves be surrounded!"

He shouts, worried about the development of the situation and attentive to the new fighters that entered the conflict.

Quickly the situation changes, and while there are thousands of deaths in the army of Khand, the elite units that are present repel the troops of Fram and Baranor with great fervor and discipline.

Following the orders of the general, Baranor's worry is realized, the enemy horsemen start an encircling maneuver and manage to cut the retreat of Wulf and his men.

Seeing this, Baranor leaves the main front and moves to the rear to eliminate as many enemies as possible and guarantee an escape route.

One of the things that Fram and Baranor want to avoid at all costs is the creation of a front in front of the wall, not wanting to face the enemy army head on, but wanting to take advantage of their field position.

This enemy tactic soon had a terrible effect on the army of the kingdom of light.

The Olog-Hai fall one after the other.

Despite their strong armor and thick skin, they could not withstand the terrible blows of the enemy's elite.

Seeing his comrades fall one after the other, Wulf goes into a total fury.

"Arrrgh, I will slaughter you!"

He shouts while wielding his sword to dismember as many enemies as possible.

Dodging a blow to the head, the latter slays a death singer, then he kills a second, a third, and this continues for a while.

However, an enemy seizes an opportunity and wounds him in the shoulder, this wound slowing him down, he does not dodge a blow to the leg destabilizing him even more.

"Arghh, you bastards, I'm going to bathe in your blood" he shouts while suffering from his wounds, holding them and backing away from the mass of countless enemies in front of him.

As he retreats, the enemies continue to advance while the Olog-Hai have no escape.

Seeing the situation they are in, Baranor decides to use his magic attribute.

'Magical Armament'.

Thinking of his new magic, he uses it immediately.

This magic is very particular, it has two well defined uses.

The first one, aims at improving the attributes of an ally, or even its own attributes. Almost like an enchantment, it aims to improve the use of whatever the caster want, it can multiply ones global power, or one magic power. It is a form of magic with "levels" that can strongly increase the power of people. However, one must already have an acceptable level of magic in order to be able to withstand the enhancement and know how to regulate and fluctuate the sudden influx of energy through the body.

The second allows the user to improve physical abilities such as speed or strength.

Using this magic, Baranor improves all his abilities and multiplies them by 10.

Then he uses his second skill and improves his strength and speed.

There is one big constraint to the user's buffing of this magic, the user can buff himself, or another person with no apparent multiplier limitation.

However, the user needs magic to use this aspect, then needs magic to hold the multiplier in place, and needs magic to protect his body from the excess of energy in his body.

Thus, as long as he has a sufficient magical reserve, he can use this skill and apply a greater or lesser multiplier.

Baranor having received this power recently has very little control over it, therefore his multiplication limit is 10, but in the future with training, he should be able to optimize the magical input, and increase his reserves, allowing him to increase his multiplication factor.

Seeing his power increase, he turns to the horsemen blocking the retreat and charges towards them with the will to kill.
