Chapter 25 - Newbies
The training with Fae was long and rather difficult. From my chair and by dint of concentrating on the link, I had a hard time deciphering anything other than Micha's feelings. The sensations are still too difficult to understand and several times by dint of concentrating on it I felt dizzy to the point of having to lie down.
The pain or even the movement almost made me sick which proves that I still have a long way to go in the Tamer class. At least I didn't pass out ...
By the end of training Micha was physically exhausted and I was mentally exhausted.
"The bond should have stabilized a bit more by now, but we still have some work to do before you get to the above contract level." Your mouse will gradually improve physically and you will pass out less with force so it's a win-win for both of you. Maybe next week or later I will give you my permission to have a second animal with you. Since it will make you start from scratch, you need to feel comfortable enough with your first bond before that. A bond is totally different from one species to another and you have to be careful not to take an overly intelligent animal right away where your brain is going to fry. "
I look at Fae with interest. A second animal? If she talks about it, it's because I'm not that far from getting it ...
I shouldn't get carried away anyway, I just arrived and I still have time. I've said it before, but I think I'll find an offensive animal as soon as I decide on my second class, but since I haven't even started training it's still early for that.
I decide to leave Fae after his explanation and go back to the mansion. Cyrus is not outside the tower and I'm almost amazed at my physical condition, I walk through the park and walk past the Druid Tower. Come to think of it, I'm wondering exactly what this class is all about. I walk past this tower every day and I haven't asked myself that question yet. Finally,
I finally enter the mansion and head for the dining room. Micha is already sleeping in my pocket and I intend to leave her alone, but I would like to eat something. I will have to think about asking Falco to make me a take-out lunch, that will prevent me from starving. I think tomorrow morning I'll go directly to see what the assassin class is doing. If all goes well, I'll organize my days as an assassin class in the morning, Fae in the afternoon and then a survivalist in the evening for an hour or two. Hmmm. Considering the distance between the towers I would probably do better to eat at the manor for lunch unless I take a boat between the thieves and rangers tower. It's to do.
Inside the dining room there is a big mess. I hadn't heard the loud voices before, but Cyrus seems to be yelling at someone.
- What is wrong with your head ?! He's fifteen and you make him drink alcohol?
- Just a Cyrus glass bottom and I have to celebrate his arrival, I'm the only one doing it in this damn mansion!
- You know very well that I am the person who takes care of him and that as a guide I must make sure that he is always safe. I'll leave him twenty minutes with him to look for his sister and you manage to make him have an alcoholic coma !? Emy, are you serious here?
- Just a glass, okay? Do you take me for an idiot?
Inside the dining room are Emy, Cyrus, Falco with two other people I have never seen before, one of whom is lying on the floor. If I believe the conversation, they are new arrivals. Both are extremely skinny and wear ripped clothes.
Falco who is leaning over the boy appears to be using a spell that is probably from his priest class. His hands are resting on his chest and glow with a conspicuous white glow. He seems to be chanting something, but it's hard to hear.
The boy's alleged sister is sitting on the floor next to the boy and holds his hand in silence. His face is covered in grime and his gaze is fixed on Falco's hands.
- They come from a war zone! Do you think when someone hands you a clean glass with liquid in it and it's been several days since you haven't drunk, you thought he was going to refuse or wait for you to explain? You poisoned him with your glass bottom.
- It was not marked on his face that he was going to fall like that! You knew it and you didn't tell me anything that I know! Give me a kid like that when I'm drunk what did you expect?
- I did not have time, his sister would arrive any minute in the same state as him or worse.
- MONSIEUR has no time! So MONSIEUR gives Emy all the work he's supposed to do, like USUAL! And when I come home and try to relax a bit because in a week I have my evaluation exam to be a paladin you come back and ask me to take care of a kid out of the blue. Are you okay with that?
- You know very well why I do not have time to do it usually and do not bring me an excuse of this kind. You drink almost every night. And who can I count on besides you hmm? Falco has plenty to do with cooking most of the time, not to mention the others in the mansion who have already enlisted in guilds and just come through here like it's a hotel, so yeah 'I' dare to ask you for a hand.
- Well you know what, Emy is fed up with having to work for you and fed up with getting yelled at, or being woken up every damn morning because my guide who is supposed to take care of my well being, needs me all the time as a nanny and as a courier.
- Emy, I need your help…
- AH! I understood very well that you needed me. Just know that it's been two months since I'm supposed to be ready for my first world and I'm still here to train and give you a helping hand. If you stopped playing idiots with your budget, you could probably take care of the living instead of throwing it around for people who won't come back! You think I don't know, is that it? Everyone who goes to the Tower of the Worlds is aware of this guide that pays you when you go upstairs and everyone laughs because it's college money ...
"Shut up both of you!" This is neither the place nor the time, you are terrifying his sister and I cannot concentrate. "
Falco has just spoken and suddenly the two stop. Emy just laughs nervously before picking up her pack and bottle and heading up the stairs. She barely looked at me in passing. Cyrus collapses in a chair and looks at Falco who has resumed his incantation.
I had remained in the doorway without knowing what to do and decided to walk towards the kitchen to bring water to the boy's sister and some fruit. Micha in my pocket who seems a little worried about the situation looks at me.
Apparently, Micha and Cyrus had a lot to talk about and this incident was the straw that broke the camel's back. I leave the tray near the little one who does not touch it and does not even look at it.
I sigh. The boy on the floor seems to be doing better anyway, his breathing seems to stabilize and he regains color. His sister who looked on the verge of tears is also starting to look reassured.
