We eventually arrive at the mansion and enter. I'm starving. The apple of this afternoon that I shared with Micha made a meager meal and I rush into the dining room followed by Cyrus. It is about nine o'clock and it is already empty except for Falco, who is sweeping. Seeing me arrive, he greets me and goes back to the kitchen where he begins to prepare a plate for me. I sit down at the table with Cyrus who stretches and extends his legs on a second chair and seems to be slowly falling asleep. Falco does not take long to return with a full plate which he places in front of me. I start to eat, being careful that Micha has her share as well.
I decide to open the contract with Micha to modify it. She raises her head in astonishment and I add a condition for her, to no longer take reckless risks that could hurt her. Owever,I'm not blaming her for biting Fae or making the decision to sign the contract, it would be foolish of me to do so.
What really worries me is what she did in the alley against the thief. If she had decided to be more violent, Micha's life was in the balance there. It worries me a little that she decides on her own to do this sort of thing, I'm happy with that, but she's too fragile and I don't have to say anything either. This is a rather advantageous condition for her since it encourages her to take fewer risks. Micha seems unhappy from the link, but I let her know that she has no choice. She ends up agreeing to the contract even though she dont like it. I guess the idea of not being able to protect myself bothers her. I honestly didn't expect something like this from a mouse. I have the impression that Micha is smarter than the average mouse, but it's hard to know why. Maybe the bond strengthens her physically? Fae explained to me that I could use a mouse as a scout and a guard at night, but I feel that the stronger the bond, the more things I could do with her. The line is not very clear and I don't know much about the tamer class. For the moment, the questions I am asking myself are on the link and on the number of animals that I can hae with me.
Fae was not very clear on this and did not want to explain to me what the link was doing above the contract level. I think that is part of her "higher knowledge" that I am not supposed to know until I reach a certain level. If I take Emy as a reference, she managed to be a paladin who is an upper class without having to climb several floors. Perhaps personal progress is not limited in classes except when we reach the limits of our own affinity with the class which forces us to go into the tower to improve ourselves in real situations or try another class.
So to put it simply, you can learn anything you want in the classroom as long as you can. From the moment your level stagnates, you have to go to the tower to gain experience. Then you return to the base of the tower and learn new skills.
Then there is a second scenario, the "Dragon"class. They don't come back to the base of the tower so as not to reveal skills, but so far if it's a requirement to get stronger, they shouldn't have a choice. This leaves two possibilities, either they are dead or they do not need them. If they don't need to come back to the base of the tower then that means they've found another way to get stronger. With the concept of floors and levels of the Tower of the Worlds, I would choose this one out of the two.
So I can deduce that the tower encourages us to make our own experiences to improve ourselves rather than going through the secondary towers, but only if we have the necessary basics to progress by ourselves. It is undoubtedly to give us a direction to follow that the secondary towers exist. For example, I might very well want to focus on the idea of making as many connections as possible and making an army of animals to go with me. Or, I could focus on bonding with Micha and go level after level to move in that direction. If I get two skills per link level it might be interesting to focus on that. The trainer skill apparently has a lot of potential.
On the other hand, I must not forget the repercussions which made the class unpopular. The link is possibly my best skill, but also my Achilles heel. If an animal gets hurt then I feel hurt myself and if an animal dies it's over for me. Then, if I don't control my animals well, it will be chaos. If I have a lot of animals then I have to take care of all of them to maintain the bond or the contract.
I'm not talking about the food for each of them either. Micha is not demanding, but she's a mouse, if I end up with a tiger that eats several kilos of meat a day ...
Of course, I don't intend to have Micha as my sole animal. It would be stupid to be a tamer and limit yourself to one animal. You might as well become a Ranger and keep her with me as my sole companion. I have no idea what my next animal might be, but before I decide on that I would like to strengthen my bond with Micha by leveling the link up to see the effect.
Reaching level three might take a while, but Micha is more than cooperative with me. At the same time, I have to choose a second class that allows me to protect my future animals. Once that is done, I think I will take an animal related to the class. It will prevent me from doing a bad choice. If Micha has the role of scout then the next animal should make me gain offensive strength.
As for the classes. I must continue to train with Fae. Go through survivalist class training so that I can fend for myself in nature AND find an offensive class that can suit me. I'm starting to get an idea since I had a little time to think about it.
What is certain is that magic is not for me, I do not see myself depending on my ridiculously small MP bar to fight. Choosing a priest means being a healer and that means healing wounds, but if an animal gets hurt I probably won't be able to heal quickly in a fight because of the shared pain, so that's no too. If I stick with the idea of being offensive then I have a lot of options.
Since I can choose as many classes as I want, I could just as easily take all of them, but considering the number of years it would take me that is not an option.
Let's be serious, support classes are to be excluded for the same reason as for the priest since it forces me to let my animals fight for me. So I can remove wizard, priest, and druid towers. I still have those of warrior, ranger, pirate and thief.
Already I can withdraw two. The Ranger one is not interesting since it is focused on the handling of the bow and goes in contradiction with the class of trainer who uses animals as companions in arms. Finally I don't see too much synergy between the two unless I use the trainer class as the perfect scout and I don't know if I really want that. In addition it will depend on a lot of things, like the environment, teammates, my animals, etc.
As for the second tower that I take out of the lot, it is that of the pirates. From what I understand, having guns is an advantage while being a gunner, but the tower doesn't like it too much and over time it's less interesting. Honestly a big part of me wants to choose this class for the convenience, but the other part doesn't want to put myself in danger. To take modern firearms is a no because of the danger in the tower but taking small firearms like muskets sold by the tower remains possible. On the other hand, the effectiveness remains questionable. If I shoot, I kill, but if several people attack me at the same time I absolutely have to reload quickly and it seems a little complicated to me.
As for the pirate class, how can being a tamer serve me well on a ship? If I train aquatic animals, how do I move with them on the land? It's a bad synergy. So I have Warrior and Thief left.
For the elimination of classes, of course I'm going too fast and if I'm wrong I still have time to think about it. Right now I just want to have an offensive class that works for me and that works well with the trainer class.
So I still have a warrior or a thief. And even though I have a preference for one of the two, I still have to think about it in detail.
