Chapter 70: Home

We reached a place in Mexican America. We learned their language. They spoke a Spanish and Latin, but we spoke that too.

We had gotten land after arriving and built a few houses along with barns and greenhouses along with fields. We owned many acres which made it so most of the locals didn't see much of us and were very close.

We found others who were from our country and they came seeking shelter and safety and with all of us together it offered them just that. We had found 6 other surviving groups, some were royals and others were people who would of been high up in the country. What started as 6 of us turned into 40 of us in the first year of living there. Between finding survivors and having children.

Me and Hunter got married in the first year in our new home, Sydney and Logan also got married. They had 2 children and we had 3 after being there for 5 years.

We never heard any news about our country, nothing from any social media accounts or on the news. It was as if our entire continent had just disappeared. There wasn't news coming out about any of countries on it. It was a dead zone. We gave up on trying to research and wait and instead we all ended up starting over with new lives and a new home. We blended with locals and some of us even started marrying them and having families with them. Nobody knew we were from there and nobody from our home would know we lived here now.

We all had official documents making us citizens of this country. We also had jobs and are kids went to school and had friends. Everything was normal and perfect.

Many years went by peacefully for our people. All of us who had come from our old country had our own community. We all had land near each other and all of our children went to the same school and hung out together. We had basically created a neighborhood, some of us owned businesses that sold close or fresh foods and we also had a restaurant, we really created our own shopping plaza. They had a small one in the original small city that was there before us, but after we arrived things changed. We built a few stores all selling different things and people started coming from the city. It grew as our own community grew. We had enough people to be considered a village or maybe even a small city after the first decade we lived there. The city that was there before also grew bigger and more visitors came to try our food and go shopping and to the beaches. We created hotels for people to stay at and we owned a decent amount of beach for people to be able to have access to through our hotels which grew becoming a resort. We thrived and so did the area around us.

I had my last child at the age of 32. Hunter and I had 4 boys and 3 girls. Ranging from the age of 5-19. All of us from our village had at least 4 kids, we needed to. There wasn't very good medical here so it was common for children to die and in some cases even use adults would die from them. That was the thing about our community though, since we were all the elite and some of the most powerful from our country we had healers and people who can help keep our own healthy, we keep our abilities a secret and we just seem to have a weird culture to everyone else.

We pray to gods and goddess from which it would appear to other such as those on the island that we were granted power from. We had adapted different burial traditions, along with holidays based off the moon and the other cosmic activities. It was the easiest way to keep outsiders from realizing the truth or where we really came from. We just seem as if we came from a small island that got hit hard during the storms that past and we happened to be the survivors and we brought our culture with us. Many found it interesting which is why we picked it up and it seemed to interesting to the other outsiders as well. We choose not to try and teach any who didn't have our blood in them our ways that way we wouldn't be seen as a problem.

Life changed since we were finally in a place where score and tier meant nothing and would only confuse the native people here. Happiness and peace can only last so long though. Soon enough war broke out. A little over 2 million people died within the first year of the war. With that illness also started covering the land, one that was all to familiar to us had shown itself on this continent and was spreading like wildfire. We were left with a choice go back to our old country and find what had happened there of stay here and fight.

It wasn't much of a choice for most of us. If we left we could live if we stayed here we would be wiped out of existence with all others who were here. We stayed for 2 years of war. Most of us fled the country as the war and illness spread. Just after the 2 years of war and illness 3/4th of the population on the continent was dead. We knew we had to leave one the illness showed it's first sign of hitting the city that was near us.

We had a few big sail boat due to having a resort it was enough for all of us who choose to leave. We filled them with supplies and people we had a fleet of 80 sail boats.

8 sail boats were 55 feet, 12 were 45 feet, 20 were 40 feet, 22 were 35 feet, 18 were 30 feet. We had a lot of decently big sail boats which aloud us to bring animals and people with us on board. A total of 160 people from our community boarded our boats, we didn't take count of how many animals we were bring with us but we had cows, pigs, sheep, goats, chicken, ducks, horses, cats, and dogs. Along with various breads and gender of each animal. Along with various food producing plants from the greenhouses and farming fields. We knew there was a chance that we would have to start all over once we reached land, because as the virus and war spread on this continent it seemed to wipe out everything in it path leaving no survivors and little animals were left due to the war and the need for food.

Starting over again was just the best option, because it gave us all a chance to live and have a new life. Other left around the same time as us and some left even before us to find a new home. We had at least 5 people even on the smallest sail boats to ensure that there was enough people to man it and still allow others to be able to take a break and rest.

On the way over we ran into multiple groups of people who were sailing trying to find a new home our fleet of 80 boats grew to a little over 290 in the 8 months it took for us to make it over to the other continent. We reached our old homes where a few of us had grown up and had memories of, but we didn't run into anyone. The other people on the boats that joined us during our journey parted way with us after reaching land. There were 4 other groups who joined us and left and even our own fleet after reaching land didn't stay together. We broke off into 2 groups, although we did stay close together so we could help each other is any issues would arise.
