Chapter 12: Chapter 12: We've Never Issued a Superpower Card for an E-level Ability Before

There weren't many people present today, but the atmosphere was lively. By now, many of the accompanying family members had taken out their phones, recording the sudden transformation of the sky as dark clouds gathered.

For the knowledgeable, this was a display of mastery, but for the uninitiated, it was just a spectacle.

To them, the weather had been perfectly fine earlier, but after that young man said a few words, it suddenly looked like it was going to rain.

It was almost like he had the power to control the weather!

Regardless of whether they had known each other before, people had started chatting among themselves.

Since the resurgence of spiritual energy, people had grown accustomed to the existence of superpower users. But in reality, interactions between ordinary people and superpower users were still rare. Witnessing such a spectacle firsthand would certainly provide material for future conversations.

No one could predict what kind of version today's events would take on as word spread.

Among those present, perhaps the person experiencing the most intense emotions was Lila.

She clutched her phone tightly, not speaking to anyone, just staring up at the sky.

From the way things were unfolding, she knew Liam was right—it was indeed going to rain here.

But she still held out hope, hoping for even a small mistake, even if it was just a minute off.

She didn't deny Liam's strength. She knew he was a hidden genius beneath the guise of an E-level ability, and she knew yesterday's duel had proven she was no match for him.

But there was still something inside her that wouldn't let her admit defeat.

Yesterday's fight with Liam was the first time she had ever lost, and she lost so badly.

She didn't want to acknowledge that someone who had been selected alongside her for special enrollment had once had such a low-level ability but was now so powerful that she could hardly keep up.

Finally, thunder began to rumble overhead, and the air grew damp.

Ding-ling-ling~

Lila's alarm, which she had set earlier, suddenly went off, catching the attention of the chatting crowd.

But the alarm only rang for a moment before stopping.

People didn't pay much attention to it because the sky had begun to sprinkle with rain, and the crowd instantly became lively.

"It's really raining!"

"Amazing! That young man called it—I got it on video. I've got to tell Aunt Zhang about this when I get home."

"Incredible! Can you believe an Energy Chain mutation turned into precognition?"

The crowd's excitement didn't affect Lila. She stood there, staring blankly at her phone.

The alarm... she hadn't turned it off herself.

At the exact moment the alarm went off, a raindrop fell from the sky and landed perfectly on the alarm's stop button!

The surrounding noise meant nothing to her now—her mind was completely blank.

Was this... fate?

Seeing that it had indeed started raining, Sophia nodded in satisfaction.

She glanced at Liam out of the corner of her eye and noticed that he still looked completely bored, as if he didn't think he had done anything impressive.

In fact, Liam was a bit baffled by how everyone around him was reacting.

Nothing's happening, but the plane isn't taking off because you're all waiting for rain?

If I'd known, I wouldn't have said anything...

After the initial excitement died down, and without waiting for the rain to stop, Sophia began instructing the selected students to board the plane.

After all, they had already delayed enough time, and with superpower users on board, the specially equipped plane wasn't afraid of flying in the rain.

Liam had no attachments and didn't need to say any "final words" to loved ones, so he grabbed his bottle of water and was the first to board the plane.

Lila stood at a distance, her eyes locked onto Liam's retreating figure.

Her father, Ye Tian, approached and gently ruffled his daughter's hair.

"That kid is indeed impressive. His future is likely to be limitless. Don't make an enemy of him—just get along."

As her father, he knew his daughter's temperament all too well. He said this mainly to comfort her.

Lila didn't respond but nodded slightly.

She silently made up her mind: From today onward, you're my target to surpass!

With that small episode over, the plane finally took off.

The flight was uneventful, taking about an hour before they reached their destination.

The only noteworthy thing during the flight was that Liam didn't sit down. He spent the entire journey leaning against the side of the plane, standing.

The reason was simple: he still couldn't completely block out the "Voice of All Things," and the chair beneath him kept complaining about him...

Of course, everyone else had long grown accustomed to his odd behavior and didn't think much of it.

...

Eventually, the plane landed in front of a massive domed building.

As Liam stepped off the plane, he saw that the weather was pleasant. The sun was about to set, and the golden light bathed the enormous dome in a warm glow. The dome bore a few large, gilded words.

Black Horse Sports Center.

Liam: ...

Those four words left Liam speechless, standing there in disbelief.

Before arriving, he had been very curious and excited about this place, imagining it to be grand, majestic, and unique.

"A... sports center? Did we come to the wrong place? Shouldn't it be something like the 'Superpower Combat Center' or something?"

Liam turned to Sophia, unable to stop himself from asking.

Sophia rolled her eyes at him, clearly seeing what he was thinking, and replied, "Why go through all the pomp and circumstance? This kind of centralized assessment doesn't take long anyway. Renting a stadium for a few weeks is more than enough."

Ryan, who had disembarked after Liam, also chimed in, standing beside Sophia, trying to join the conversation.

"Exactly, I think a sports center works just fine."

Sophia shot him a puzzled look, her expression clearly asking, "Who are you?" but she didn't say anything.

Ryan: ... Did I overstep?

Everyone stood with their luggage, and two staff members approached.

One of them was holding a stack of clothes, while the other had several cards in hand.

Those were superpower registration cards!

Every official superpower user receives one of these, recording their name, gender, date of birth, ability level, and superpower rank.

It was similar to a superpower user's ID card.

Since Liam and the others were newly enrolled superpower users who hadn't undergone formal combat assessments, they didn't have superpower ranks yet.

Receiving a superpower card without having a rank was a sign that the authorities had great confidence in their potential and future, a badge of honor and recognition of their talent!

The six selected students all showed clear signs of excitement on their faces.

But while the other five were happy about the honor, Liam was more excited about the quality of the free clothes!

However, after everything was distributed, Sophia's expression darkened a bit. She looked up at the two staff members and asked,

"Why is there one less superpower card? Where's Liam's?"

"We've never issued a superpower card for an E-level ability before, so... we wanted to check with you first," one of the staff members responded formally, bowing slightly toward Sophia.
