Chapter 63: Cage
Roth: "three more contacts Bravo three," he said while still on his binoculars. I pointed my rifle near the palace wall and told Roth I am ready.
Joseph: "contact," I said while my pupils contracted smaller as my heart got faster, but before it got even quicker, I heard Roth's words.
Roth: "calm down, kid, your shaking, holdover, and prepared to shoot." when I heard his words, I stopped my beating heart by taking a deep breath. Then I squeezed the trigger shooting at a red barrel near the two enemies. "Nice shooting kid, there is more.." but before he could finish, Lara started talking to us on the radio.
Lara: "Roth, Joseph, I am inside," she said on the radio. I looked at the receiver in worry as I heard she is now inside the palace.
Roth: "Are you sure about this, Lara," Roth said with worry on his face.
Lara: "I'll get them, then I will come back and Joseph, thank you for saving me there when that man was about to go after me." I just stared at the radio with worry, but before I could talk back to her, she went radio silent. I looked at Roth and gave him the rifle I am using.
Joseph: "Roth, can you cover for me. I will be heading towards the palace to go after Lara." I said, standing up reading my handgun. Roth looked at me with worry and tried to stop me from going in there.
Roth: "Where are you going to go? Almost all the people on the bridge are on high alert; you can't sneak in there," he said while pointing at the people who are running around to find us. I looked at Roth and gave him a reassuring smile on my face.
Joseph: "who said I am going to sneak in, I am going in the front door..."

---on the bridge---
Solarii: "hay John come out and help us find the goddam fucker who killed our brothers." he said while trying to drag the man who was cowering in fear. The man looked at his African man, who called him out and shook his head in horror.
John: "NO! I don't want my head being blown off by the sniper." I said in fear while hiding behind the cover near the palace entrance
The African man was about to drag his scared friend when suddenly someone on the bridge shouts out an intruder at the entrance of the bridge.
Solarii #2: "hay there is someone at the end of the bridge, do you think he is the outsider." he said, pointing his gun at the man who has long white hair. The man at the end of the bridge started running toward our group.
We were about to rais our gun to gun down the stupid man who was running towards us without taking cover. But all of a sudden, one of our groups was shot in the head.
We all scattered to find a cover which gave the man time to get near one of our gunmen who was near the bridge entrance. The man executed some moves that disarmed the man from his assault rifle. Then he started using that same rifle that he got from us and started shooting us down.
When I saw this, I ducked down the small cover that I have. When I am hiding in fear, I only hear more gunshots and screams, which makes me even more scared as the screams get louder as time goes by. All of a sudden, all the cries and gunfight went silent.
When I heard that there were no more screams, I thought we finally killed the bastard, so I peaked my head out of cover. But the only thing I saw was a gun barrel to my head. I slowly looked up towards the man who was about to kill me and saw a blood-covered face with a scary smile.
When I saw that smile, I knew I am standing right in front of a Devil who is about to drag my soul to hell. I was going to plead for my life in front of the Devil, but the next thing I knew, everything went black. The last thing I heard was the blast that came from the Devil's suppressed gun.

---Joseph pov---
Joseph: "shit, my suppressor is worn out from my excessive use." I said while taking the suppressor off my gun and throwing it away. All of a sudden, I heard whispers in my head.
???: "unlock my cage you have put on to yourself; you know you want to." when I heard the voices in the head, my heart started rapidly beating, but before I could process what happened, my Roth began to talk to me on the radio.
Roth: 'kid, I can't believe what I just saw you just single-handedly went up against them." he said on the radio. I shook my head to get the voices off my head. Then I grabbed my radio to talk to Roth.
Joseph: "Yeah, I am heading in then," I said while checking the new assault rifle I got from the man I just killed.
Roth: "Ok, kid, be careful and promise me to protect Lara and the other, I will be heading out to make a signal for our rescue out of this island." when he said his words Roth went radio silent. All of a sudden, my head started hurting again and hearing voices again.
???: "open my cage.." he whispered in my head. I shook my head and went up towards the two big gates.
With my strength, I pushed the two big doors in my way. What revealed on the other side was more men pointing their guns at me, I jumped out of their view. I rolled near a small cover nearby.
When I finally got to cover, I heard gunshots all over me. Some bullets went through my cover, and I know that my cover would not last long. I need to think of something. All of a sudden, I heard people talking about a girl that came here before me.
Solarii #1: "you little shit, you think that you're any better than the girl that came here to steal our savior that Father Mathias has prophesied." he said while crazily spraying down my cover.
Solarii #2: "Yeah, just like that girl that came here first, you will die like her." he said, backing up his brother's words.
Solarii: "don't forget we still need to beat him up like the girl who killed our brothers. man Dimitry was beating that girl to her death."
When I heard all of their words, I was at a loss of thought, then suddenly I heard voices in my head grew louder as the people telling me that Lara was dead.
???: "yes, Joseph, unlock my cage, you know that you can't do anything about this; you have failed Lara; why not let me take control and have our revenge for us." when I heard the voice in my head I closed my eyes.
When I was in my head, I saw the man in a cage. He looked at me with his scary smile and red glowing eyes. He didn't speak to me, but his eyes told me everything I needed to do. I looked at the blood-red key on my hand. I slowly got near the cage and stuck the red key to the lock. I look at the man one last time with tears in my eyes. He looked at me and gave me a crazed smile on his face.
Devil: "don't worry, Joseph, we will have our revenge..."
