Ahead, I saw Mr. Collin sign his signature in this huge old book that was on a desk. Here from the foyer, we entered underneath the imperial stairs, and took an elevator to the Collin wing.
Velvet blue carpet that had golden trim was across our wing. Dragon scales were carved into each door for a unique 3-D scaly design.
Now, I was told our wing split off from another wing. Which made the corridor spread out wider before the corridors separate into different wings. Kai and his friends' rooms were before the split. Across from us in this section of the corridor was the other wing, which the Collin Coven doesn't own.
Just before Kai opened the door, he sneered with hatred across from us toward that wing. Particularly, more toward the door across from ours.
"Is something wrong?" I asked, and he snapped awake like his mind was elsewhere.
"Nothing, this is where we're staying," he suspiciously sounded and then opened the door.
Inside was huge it had a living room, bedroom, and bathroom. The latest European fashion furnished our room. Everything was a matching cream-white and creamy gold color, bedroom included. The king-size bed was dressed in creamy white and gold.
"You can nap before we have to get ready," Kai said. "The ball will be held by evening. Ladies will come by to do your hair, makeup, and gown sometime after lunch."
"Ok." I lay in bed while Kai made sure our luggage arrived and was sorted. In my sleep, I heard him barking orders like he always does. He was such a Royal head.

Later, after my nap and lunch. Firm knocking came from the door. Kai was long gone with his friends, doing who knows what. So I answered it and found this woman in her twenties behind it.
"Good evening, my lady," she greeted in a strong Greek accent, but her English was fluent. "I'm here to take you to the Collin powder room to get you ready. Your gown and makeup are prepared. Your family and friends are waiting for you."
I gave a head gesture and left the room with her. How she spoke gave it away that she was human. My conscience screamed to tell her to run from this malefic palace, but I had to keep my mouth shut. She'd think I'm crazy if I told her the palace was packed with vampires and vampiresses. All I could do was say a prayer that she survives the gathering. Only so many humans will live after this social event.
Inside the powder room was similar to a beauty salon. Wall mirrors and make-up stationeries surrounded each section of these rooms. I sat between Rose and Rome's two years younger sister named Isabella. Ironically, she's the same sister that had her memory erased by him. I've learned, Rome has two sisters, one younger and older. Then he has two older brothers and one little brother that is fifteen.
Another hour passed from her doing my makeup. By the time, she was done, I looked like a beautiful porcelain doll that would cost a million dollars. My skin was caked in thick amounts of makeup, yet, I looked like a masterpiece. Then my hair was curled in a gothic-style updo made for a queen.
From here, we went into a changing room. More than one lady pulled my black and dark blue lace victorian gown over my body. Very carefully, they tied the thin strings to the corset into a bow on my cleavage.
Once they were done, I awed at my body in the full length mirror to see the gothic gown sparkling with dark blue pearls, black gems, and darker blue lace. Being nearly three months pregnant with triplets, I looked thin and elegant. Thanks to my puking, I've lost a lot of weight. And, oh my! My breasts were perky and huge like those swimsuit models on a man's calendar.
To top it off, the matching mask glittered in jewels over my eyes, and my silky black gloves snugged past my elbows. The overall finish made me look like a gothic enchantress.
"You're certainly going to turn heads tonight," one German lady giggled.
"You're hot and gorgeous! Your husband will have to keep his eyes on you," said a different lady from France.
"I'm sure he will," I replied, tugging my corset to hide more of my breasts.
Of course, it wouldn't budge. Once Kai sees me in this gown, we might not make it to the ball.
On that thought, most of us were out the door. Rose wore a black gown, Mia's was light pink with flower prints, Mrs. Collin wore violet over her fairly big baby belly, and Sharlene's was light blue. Ava wore a teal color gown over her showing pregnancy. Dr. Riley wore a dull orange gown. Mrs. Nasberry wore a dark red gown. Veronica chose a peach color gown. Zoey and her firstborn pregnant daughter named Madeline wore yellow gowns. Alice wore pink that was cut appropriately for her age. Darlene wore a dark green gown that looked lovely on her. Of course, there were far too many of us to observe between family, friends, and their friends' families. Overall, we fit the costume to attend a gothic victorian masked ball.
Walking through the corridor, we heard this voice cry, "Has anyone seen my daughter?" this Italian mother was asking the ladies who dressed us.
"I'm sure she's playing with the guest children," one of them declared.
Another lady asked, "Have you tried texting her?"
Yet the mother looked worried and took out a phone. "This is her phone! She never goes anywhere without it. She's only eight! She knows better not to do this."
"Let's check the children's playroom. I'm sure she's there," a different woman suggested before they took off in a different direction.
My eyes widened as we sauntered, and I asked, "Please don't tell me..."
"It's best not to think about it," Rose cut me off in a low whisper. "Human children mean nothing to most of our Kind. Most vampires want the youngest blood they can drink."
"Plus, we have to feed our children," behind me, Sharlene's grandmother said heartlessly, which churned my stomach enough to vomit.
"Kai never said there would be kids here," my voice sounded heartbroken and helpless, but no one made any remarks.
Rather they each pretend as if I wasn't heard. I understood it meant that an eight-year-old girl was eaten. Boy, that was a hard one to take in.
