After speaking to my professor for a minute, Mia and I left my last class. Buzz! I took out my buzzing phone and read this text from Nora. "I'm sorry, I won't be able to work on the assignment this weekend. I am going to an unexpected family reunion. Go figure they had to tell me at the last minute."
I giggled, reading the strain between her letters. "It's cool, Nora. Will work on it next time," I texted a reply and sent it. She then texted a simple response, so I didn't reply and put my phone in my pocket.
"Is there anywhere else you like to go?" Mia asked with a chipper.
Now I questioned her as we walked aimlessly around the campus. "Did Kai ask you to follow me because of the accident?"
Mia gave a gentle indication. "Ivan asked me because Kai is worried about your safety."
I sigh aggravated when we halted behind this tree. "I can't understand why Kai won't let me go if I could cause a war for your Kind. Instead, I could be with Orlando."
Anybody around us was oblivious to hearing our conversation. Blindness surrounds our world to what is lurking amongst us.
"The Vampire Covenant will still go after you," Mia frowned. "Even if Kai lets you currently leave. You know too much about us to keep you alive."
"I guess I should've seen that one coming," I sigh a gloomy frown.
With the gentlest smile, Mia asked. "I know you aren't fond of Kai but could you truly give up your baby?"
I sigh, "I try not to think about it because I am still hoping I am not pregnant."
Mia smiled, "Once the baby shows you won't be denying it."
I nodded since I didn't know how to respond to that one so I asked as we started adventuring along again. "Long ago Covens fought in a war?"
Mia enlightened me with some vampiric history. "Indeed, we did. The first wave of war was about territories. Then the second war was about intermixing different species together."
"You mean breeding together?" I asked.
Mia corroborated, "Yes, how that transpired was by destined mates being from different species of our Kind. Like a shapeshifter being with a Hunter."
"How did the war get resolved?" I asked and a few people went around us. Yet I am still amazed at how blind humans can be about everything.
Mia told me, "The Lights came up with a compromise. Same with the destined mates that wanted to be together. Regardless, they weren't the same breed. That is how the Vampire Covenant was constituted. From Headmaster to the five generations under him are welcomed to be a part of the Vampire Covenant from each Coven. Enemies or not, it's a time when negotiations are held fairly. Any broken principles, it's between the Covens involved to war it out. Then the winning Coven can detain or enslave who they want from the losing Coven. Worldwide war would involve almost every Coven. That's what the Vampire Covenant is trying to avoid such a war that occurred twice long ago."
Before I could ask another question.
Mia stood still from walking and grabbed my wrist. Straight up ahead, I saw these seven very gorgeous guys. Two of them are dressed in black Dickies pants with a nice shirt. The rest wore average men's wear with jeans. They peered at us with this fetching smile and alluring eyes that were striking. I found myself wanting to move toward them and get better acquainted. When I went to step forward, Mia pulled me back. She then pulled me to the right and hustled it. That's when my mind cleared this mushy dew from my head. Now I realized they aren't guys but vampires. They almost had me to such alluring enchantment to my demise. The death snare that vampires and vampiresses have to subdue you to your final breath.
I matched Mia's speed and realized this is bad. She turned off between two buildings that would reach her car faster. Just at the end, three of those vampires cut our escape. We changed course to go back but saw the rest of them appear. No, differently than vultures, they cycled us into the brick building.
Mia moved me behind her and hissed her fangs. "Back off! You can't hunt here!"
Her words were strikingly menaced but her body trembled with fright. I know she was frightened because vampiresses were weaker compared to vampires. One was bad enough but this crossed the comfort zone of all boundaries. Seeing how we attracted seven of them to us.
"Who said we were hunting," one of the vampires toyed with us while his eyes inspected us with drooling lust.
It wasn't that thirsty type of lust to wanna feed. It was the same kinda lust a man would have if he only wanted one thing.
"Leave us be!" Despite being afraid, Mia hisses aggressively and stands her defense firmly against these crooked vampires.
Directly in front of us, this one vampire lengthened his claws and slapped a slash on Mia's face!
She falls hard as I cry out, "MIA!"
I went to help her but a vampire wearing the Dickies pants slammed me on the building. He pinched my lips and chin between his claws.
"Don't scream babydoll or else things will get worse," he threatened to do imperil things.
I looked down at Mia getting pinned on the ground by two vampires. One held her hands above her head and the other one fought her body to get her still. Yet she screeched and put up a fight by using her legs to kick.
Then I looked back at these lusting-redden eyes and felt the zipper on my jeans getting tugged. I fought against him and got my face freed. My leg kicks up and I slam his crotch! He hissed in discomfort but he wasn't like a man that would drop to his knees in agony.
Rather angry he slammed me back on the wall as Mia still fought. She bites the one vampire on his neck and he hissed and backed off. Then she twisted her arms free and was up on two feet in no time. Effortlessly, she hissed, kicked, scratched, and bit the two vampires attacking her. While the rest of them stood aside and enjoyed the show. She was doing far better than me, I felt when I heard this lechery whisper in my ear. "That move might work on a man but it won't work on me."
