Chapter 71: Imperturbable Captain

Zoro, come with me; you two help Nami back to her bed," Luffy said before leaving the room with Zoro right behind him. The two of them made their way to the galley before they went out onto the main deck.

When they got there, they saw that the Going Merry was slowly approaching an island in the distance. Zoro, wake up the three of them," Luffy said, causing Zoro to nod his head before he headed into the bedroom to wake up Sanji, Gem, and Yosaku.

Luffy then walked to the front of the ship, folded his arms, and stared at the island they were slowly approaching. "Captain, are you sure this is a good idea?" asked Usopp as he walked behind Luffy. "I mean, maybe there's a snow monster over there," Usopp said worriedly, causing Luffy to sweat. "Come on, Usopp, no snow beast can stand his ground against the might of a brave ocean warrior," said Luffy, grinning as he played in Usopp's dream. "I bet Kaya would think anyone who can beat a snow monster to save a friend's life is a noble warrior," Luffy added, causing Usopp to put on a brave face.

He pointed a finger at the sky and shouted. "That's right, no snow monster can stand against Captain Usopp's power!" he shouted, causing Luffy to laugh before turning his attention back to the island. As the ships sailed closer and closer to the island, they all noticed the waterway leading into the island, so they decided to sail there to head for land.

Vivi left Nami and Nojiko inside and came out with her duck, Karoo, to see if they had arrived. "Wow, everything is covered in snow," Vivi said in an astonished voice as she looked around. "Look at those mountains; I've never seen anything like them before," said Sanji while looking up at a series of drum-shaped mountains. "I guess that's why they call it Drum Island," said Yosaku from beside Sanji with a bisento in his hand.

After sailing down the waterway for five minutes, the ship stopped at the end of the river. "It's a stream of melting snow; this should be a good place to anchor," Luffy said before turning to his crew. "Okay, time to find a doctor. Who wants to go?" he asked. "I'll stay on the ship," Zoro said, causing Luffy to nod. "We will stay with Big Bro Zoro," said Johnny while Yosaku nodded. Seeing that no one else had said that they wanted to stay on the ship, Luffy spoke again. "So I presume you're all going ashore?" Luffy asked, causing the rest of his crew to nod. Luffy wanted to speak again, but just as he was about to open his mouth to speak, screams from both sides of the waterway cut him off. "Only so far you can go, pirate!" a man shouted from the right side of the waterway, attracting the attention of all strawhats.

When they all looked at the origin of the sound, they saw that they were surrounded by people on both sides of the waterway who were armed with rifles and all aimed at them.

When the origin of the sound was looked at by them, it was seen that they were surrounded by people on both sides of the waterway who were armed with rifles, all aimed at them. Luffy narrowed his eyes and stared at the group of people. "I think we've found the locals," said Sanji as he lit a new cigarette. Yeah, that's good, but they don't seem very friendly," Usopp said, causing Luffy to laugh. "Well, we are pirates," he replied. while keeping an eye on those guys.

Then a man dressed in a green jacket stepped forward and spoke. "I'm only going to say this once; you guys are not welcome here," he said in a commanding voice, which caused Luffy to look at him with an indifferent expression on his face. "Listen," said Luffy, getting the man's attention. "We came here just to find a doctor," he said. "We have someone who is sick," shouted Vivi, trying to help Luffy reassure the people. "You have to do better than that.

We're not going to fall for that old trick!" shouted a man holding a shotgun. "This is our island! We won't let dirty pirates land here!" another man shouted. "Raise your anchors and leave now! Or we'll blow you and your ship out of the water!" shouted a random guy, causing Luffy to narrow his eyes. "That's great; we haven't even said hello, and they already hate us," said Sanji. "Go away from here!" a man screamed before he shot his gun at Sanji, which almost hit him in the leg. "Big mistake," said Sanji angrily, preparing to attack. No, Sanji, stop!" Vivi shouted while holding Sanji.

As he held Sanji, the same man who had shot before fired his gun again. Luffy, realizing where the bullet was going, turned his body into lightning, teleported in front of Vivi, and caught the bullet between his index finger and thumb. "You know, even Buddha loses his temper when provoked for the third time," said Luffy in a deathly tone that caused all the locals' eyes to widen when they saw him raise the bullet between his fingers. Everyone then started aiming their guns at Luffy. "Luffy, please stop!" Vivi pleaded as she released Sanji and held onto Luffy. "Fighting won't solve anything!" She screamed.

Vivi then released Luffy, knelt down, and lowered her head, causing everyone's eyes to widen in shock. "Help! We're not coming off the ship, but at least please get a doctor here for us. Our friend is dying of a serious illness! Please, I'm begging you!" Vivi begged. "Princess," Luffy whispered in shock. "You are not fit to be the captain of this ship, Luffy," Vivi said, causing Luffy's crew's eyes to widen in surprise.

Luffy clenched his fists and gritted his teeth while using every muscle in his body to restrain himself from giving the princess a lightning kick on the head. " Vivi added, not paying attention to Luffy or the clouds forming in the sky, "You cannot solve everything by fighting."We can't fight here. What about Nami? Think about her," Vivi said, causing Luffy to take a deep breath and exhale before he spoke.

"Princess, you speak as if these people will live long enough to protect themselves," said Luffy in a cold tone, which caused Vivi's eyes to immediately look up at her and stare at him in surprise. "I have no intention of actually fighting here anyway, so..." Luffy said, before turning towards the men pointing their guns at them and doing the unthinkable.

Luffy lowered his head. The whole crew was so shocked; they never expected to see Luffy do something like this. "Please help us; our friends need you," he said with his head down. The man wearing the green jacket stared at him for a few seconds before he spoke. "I will show you the way to our village," he said as he turned and started walking. "Follow me," he said as he walked away.

Luffy raised his head and turned to Sanji. "Bring Nami," he said, causing Sanji to nod his head before he went inside. "See, that's not so," Vivi said to Luffy, but stopped when she saw Luffy walking away from her with an annoyed face. "You're lucky to be alive, Vivi," Usopp said, looking at her. "What do you mean?" she asked confusedly. "You insulted the captain of the ship in front of his crew and then made him bow his head to someone weaker than him, Ms. Wednesday.", he said as he walked up to Vivi. "I've seen Luffy kill people for doing things much lighter than that," added Usopp.

Boom! Boom! A loud sound of thunder resounded across the island, and the tremors reached the mountains. "Yep, she's really lucky," said Zoro while looking at the lightning flashing in the sky.
