When the clan repelled the Count's attack back then, everyone was able to tell that it would only be a matter of time before the Count struck again.

The Count had proven his fearsome capabilities through those fights. He was someone who could take a direct hit from a shell and emerge unscathed, after all.

Fighters at such a level were utterly hopeless for regular armies to fight—even elite special forces—to take on.

The best they were able to do was simply repel him.
