Chapter 13: Lady Mareena

"He is Kristian. After his elder brother passed away, he was protected by the formal duke. It said it was a secret. No one knew how he survived. But everyone finally found out there was a way to lift the curse and that's how he survived. It is still a mystery how he fooled 'it' and escaped death."

Henry felt like the paragraph was all about praising him. But somehow he had escaped from the curse. Then he would also survive, right?

Henry thought and then turned over to the next page. But there was nothing. All the next pages were blank.

"But about the previous dukes? This book only has my father and his brother. What about other dukes?"

Disappointed, he put the book aside and stretched his hand to pick up the next book.

"The cursed Bryxton."

"What the hell? Is there nothing important about here other than this fucking curse?"

He put that book aside and picked the next book but only to realise it was also about the curse.

As he checked all the books, it was all about the curse.

"That's it? Are there any books about this Bryxton which are at least useful?"

He stood up and thought of searching for something else.

"Ah! Right, Ricarda. I want to read about people whose hair and eyes change to red sometimes."

But no response. Seemed like there were no books with such content. So this huge library was still useless to him.

"What the fuck is these all books about then?"

He randomly picked up the closest book to him and flipped through it. But it was blank. Then he got another book and flipped it. It was also empty.

"No way! Are those all just blank pages?"

He looked around the huge library and asked himself in disbelief.

"I am going back."

He was pissed. How could someone use a library just to show off?

He left the library angry as he couldn't find even a single clue about the things he wanted other than a curse that appeared out of nowhere.

He went to his room, closed the door, and laid in his bed lazily.

"It's boring. What am I gonna do now?"

He mumbled and closed his eyes for a moment. But that 'it' suddenly came to his mind. The way that the dog's head opened its eyes and blinked, startled him again.

"Shit! I should not have read that book. It's like I watched some kind of a horror movie."

He wiped the sweat and calmed his heart which was beating like crazy.

"Young master! Lady Mareena is here."

Martha suddenly came to his room and said with a smile.

'Who is Mareena?'

Even before he tried to recall her, Martha grabbed him and walked to the living room in a hurry. Henry followed her and arrived at the living room. He suddenly stopped noticing two unfamiliar faces in front of him.

There were two children his age. The boy was as tall as Henry, but the girl looked really tiny and cute.

"Henry!"

As soon as they noticed Henry's existence in front of them, the girl beamed happily. She ran to Henry as she was calling his name cutely. Henry didn't know what was going on. He just watched the scene until he could get some idea.

"Hello."

The boy walked to him with his elegant movements. He bowed and said hello very politely unlike that girl who suddenly jumped on him and hugged him.

"Ah...Hello."

How was he supposed to address that guy? He didn't know who they were. But asking them to face, it would sound offensive. So he stood there helplessly as if he waited for someone to help him.

"Lady Mareena, can you please get off me."

Since Martha said Lady Mareena had arrived, it must be her. Thankfully, it was her. If not he would have been embarrassed to death by calling someone else's name.

"How many times have I told you not to call me Lady Mareena? Call me Pinky."

Henry sighed in disbelief in his heart. But that was when he suddenly remembered something.

'Pinky? No way!'

That was the girl he was supposed to marry when he passed his 18th birthday. Many nobles' families had made agreements to marry off even their unborn children just for that so-called friendship. That was also a thing like that. Henry's father and this girl's father happened to be friends from childhood. So they decided to marry off their children and become a family.

This Pinky and Henry actually had a good relationship. A very good relationship. Maybe they were actually fated. Because this little cute girl was not innocent. She was also very ignorant just like the original owner. She was obsessed with Henry, she became very possessive of him lately. However, Henry also liked her. So they made a good-evil couple.

Sometimes Henry helped Pinky to bully the people who bothered her. And especially, she had helped Henry to kill Ricarda. She was the one who hired assassins as repayment for Henry.

'Why can't these children just go to a kindergarten or school to study? Why do they have to start by killing people?'

Henry saw the girl taking steps back and pouting cutely. But he didn't find it cute anymore. For the first time in his life, he felt terrified by a cute kid's pouting.

Who knew what more things were waiting for him?

'Maybe these children were born with evil in his hearts. If not, how could they have such ideas at such a young age?'

According to original Henry's memories, Henry had tried all those ways to kill when he was only 8 to 10 years old. He was amazed by the fact children there had progressed their brains very fast to the point they had even got the desire to kill their enemies.

'What a strange world!'
