Chapter 131: A Different Kind of Truth

"What?" I ask

"It means don't be selfish. It means don't put yourself first. I can see only very, very dire circumstances where the Light might break a pair in that way—and it's not the first thing He's going to try."

"Nathanial said they've been fighting this battle for decades. Maybe they haven't won because this is what it takes!"

Jerry shrugs. "It could be. And I admire your dedication. I'm certain that the Light blesses your goal to save your sister, even if it costs you. He definitely appreciates sacrificial love. But he doesn't sacrifice where no sacrifice is needed. He loves you. And He loves Chase."

"And He loves Amy."

"Yes, he does. But he didn't give you Amy as a soul tie. He gave you Chase."

I blink at that. And the Light's voice blooms to life in my head. 

You two are one.
