Chapter 38: Chapter 35- The Fire Phoenix Clan Member’s Hidden Motives

A loud swoosh echoed out as the Sparrow demonic beast took off into the air.

Longmin and Longwei were seated in the same position as before along with their bodyguards. However, there was a new addition to the group, Weisheng was seen sitting slightly ahead between the two bodyguards.

Longwei’s injuries were pretty much already healed, but Weisheng’s was still in the process of healing his own. So far, he managed to remove all the Sword Intent from his body, and now he only had to focus on healing his damaged organs.

Though, that was proving to be slightly difficult, as he would sense Longmin turning around and glancing at him ever so often.

Every time he did, the Fire Phoenix Clan member would start swearing profanities that only he could hear.

For the umpteen time, Longmin turn and glanced at the meditating Weisheng, his eyes flashing unnoticeably for a second before he turned away.

“This irritating brat! In the past few hours, he must have turned around about a hundred times. Every f*cking time he does, it feels as if he’s breaking through my concealment technique inch by inch.”

As the Fire Phoenix Clan member spoke in frustration, Weisheng responded by asking, ‘Remind me why you can’t kill them at this very moment, they’re literally in front of us with their backs turned. If this isn’t the perfect opportunity, then I don’t know what is.’

“I can’t make my move as yet, the process of locking off the Saint realm expert’s Divine Imprint is slow. If I make a move now, then before I could deal the killing blow, that Divine Imprint will awaken and wipe out my soul.”

‘Then how far along is the sealing process?’ Weisheng asked after hearing the Fire Phoenix Clan member’s words.

“Don’t worry, the sealing process will eventually be completed, and when it does, the first thing I’m going to do is gouge out the eyes of that fucking brat.”

Weisheng frowned in his heart.

Even though this soul within him called himself a member of the Fire Phoenix Clan on the Demonic Beast Continent, and had even revealed his true form of a fire phoenix to his master, his master still told him to be wary of him.

This was because, during their negotiations and plans, he would purposely avoid telling the Crescent Moon Sect key information. Due to this, his master felt like he was hiding something from them.

Obviously, his master and the Head Elders of the Crescent Moon Sect were suspicious that the Fire Phoenix Clan was planning to turn against them when the Wu Clan is destroyed. But by that time his master would have already entered the mystical Saint realm.

Even though he would be a newly advanced Saint-level cultivator, the power he would be in control of was not something any major power would dismiss.

When a Sage realm expert makes a move, they have the ability to cover entire cities with a single palm, if they get angry an entire continent would tremble.

However, when a Saint realm expert gets angry, an entire planet will be on the brink of disaster.

That’s why in the past hundreds or even thousands of years, there have never been two continents fighting in an all-out war. The power of their Saint-level experts would cause too much destruction. At most, they would have small-scale battles involving Nirvana realm cultivators and below, or possibly their Sage realm cultivators making a move or two, but they wouldn’t go all out.

That was another reason why his master was so suspicious of this Fire Phoenix Clan member, the fact that his clan, the Fire Phoenix, wanted to start an all-out war involving Saint-level experts.

The reasons were obvious as to why wars spanning two continents hadn’t occurred in the last couple of thousands of years.

And the worst thing of all, the only contact the Crescent Moon Sect had with the Fire Phoenix Clan on the Beast Continent, was through this clan member within his body.

When he had first made contact with the Crescent Moon Sect, it had actually been hundreds of years ago when the sect hadn’t been the number one Sage Sect on the Wu Continent. At that time, the previous clan Patriarch had been tempted by the prospect of ruling over the continent so he agreed to join forces with the Fire Phoenix Clan.

With a Sage-level expert helping them behind the scenes, in only a few centuries they have managed to increase their power and become the number one Sage Sect. Because of this, the little bit of doubt the Crescent Moon Sect harbored was buried away.

And what’s even more, it was during that time his master’s talents began to shine when he was speculated to have the potential to reach the Saint realm, and thus was given the Sect Leader position.

His master in the past was known as a once in a thousand years genius, however, he wasn’t just talented, he also possessed knowledge and intelligence most people couldn’t compare to. When he became the Sect Leader, he started to spot some inconsistencies in this Fire Phoenix Clan member’s information.

However, they were minor and could just be brushed off as simple mistakes or coincidences. Though these mistakes and coincidences started to increase for the last fifteen years or so.

In the past year, when he devised this plan to assassinate the two sons of the Wu Clan’s Patriarch, was when the inconsistencies increased even more.

Like the fact that he had revealed his ability to conceal his presence from the Lesser Pocket Realm’s laws. If he had mentioned that in the past, it could have helped the Crescent Moon Sect on multiple occasions.

Another one was the fact that he said, he had to carry out his assassination attempt after sealing the Divine Imprint of the Wu Clan’s Saint realm expert.

Wasn’t that contradictory? He was able to seal a Saint realm’s Divine Imprint, but did not have the power to stand up to a single blow from it?

When he was asked about this fact, he stated that it was just how his technique worked, not giving any further information.

Weisheng was even told by his master that the Fire Phoenix Clan member might be hiding his true cultivation. Because of that, his master had only allowed him to carry out this mission on one condition, that he placed a seal within him that protected his soul if anything occurred.

The seal within him didn’t only suppress his cultivation, it also acted as a barrier, to prevent the Fire Phoenix Clan member from directly coming into contact with his soul.

After hearing his master’s condition, the Fire Phoenix Clan member had agreed to the seal's placement without any protests.

As Weisheng went over the information his master told him, while speculating the Fire Phoenix Clan member’s true motives, he suddenly heard Longmin yell.

“Quickly stop!!”

As Longmin’s voice echoed out, the massive Sparrow came to a screeching halt.

Longmin then stood up and said, “Go down from here, hurry.”

Upon Longmin’s command, the bodyguard controlled his Sparrow demonic beast to dive through the clouds towards the ground.

Longwei looked over at Longmin and asked, “Little brother what’s wrong?”

Longmin didn’t answer and only pointed ahead, at the forest that was now becoming visible as the Sparrow dived further down.

“Over there.”

Longwei and the rest looked over in that direction, and faintly saw silhouettes of people rushing through the forest.
