Chapter 87: To whoever might read this.

Currently my life is a busy one and I dont dedicate close enough time to do writing, something that I enjoy, but only as a hobby. I have an idea for a book, but I dont really know how well will it go, therefore im posting its possible first chapter. If someone might read this, give me your opinion. I wont give you much hope, but If i get some news from people I will try to relase this in the middle or end of summer when I will write enough chapters, my speed wont be fast as I will try to write 1-3 chapters a week with length 1-2 k words. I hope to create a long story for about 500 chapters with there being 4 stages, which will work fine without eachother but will be till directly connected.

SO if anyone read this give me ur oppinion and I will decide if I will post this here since now im writing just for myself to feel free time and let my mind clear and wonder about all fantasy it can give me. THanks for your attention, please have a read of a chapter that is just a raw of what i have in mind.

----------

I feel my heart pumping blood through my body like a tireless horse running until its legs give up, lungs burn, and heat stops. I see an enemy right in front of me, but my arms aren't enough to reach him, to end him, and to end the suffering of those in the smoke of the unknown.

He looks me in the eyes, with burning anger, as he grins."All the effort you put into this for years, all the hopes you held dear to your heart, are crumbling away before your eyes. Tell me, how do you feel? Was it necessary to ignore my warning?"

His eyes never leave me from his sight, and he never dares to blink, looking at the scars and holes from fangs and nails all around my body, as blood slowly pours out, leaving my body. The entire place is filled with the bodies of people who were dear to me, people I hold in my heart, memories of the good and the bad that we went through. I take a deep breath as my saber once more lights up in the pale fire, illuminating the dark night of death and gore. Ignoring the pulsing pain circling through my body, I take a sluggish step, forcing my body to move beyond what it could.

I show him a peaceful smile that is never fitting for such a place that has taken too many lives, the lives of good people who will never see the light of the next day. "At least I was able to stop what you were planning to do. This is enough to make me smile," I chuckle lightly, taking one step after another, closing the gap between us.

"You are insane! You are not human. I know them, they will never go for such a sacrifice. You are just like me!" Veins on his head bulge more and more as he breaks his voice during his speech. His body is slightly shaking as anger started boiling inside of his heart.

"But maybe you're right. I will never go for such a sacrifice," I say with a small smirk as I make my final push towards this monster, trying to pierce his chest and end him along with myself. As I rush towards him, I feel my flesh ripping as his sharp hand pierces right through my chest, getting a grip on my heart.

Pulling my face as close as possible to his, he whispers, "You will die here along with everyone you know, and I will hunt the rest of those who ever felt good about you, making their lives a misery."

I show him one final smile as I take him in a bear hug with the rest of the strength my body can muster. It's really nothing, but I'm not capable of anything more than that. Right at that moment, I feel a sword pierce me and him, pinning both of us to the ground.

"You were right on time," I say, no longer having the power to keep my eyes open.

A woman kneels down right next to Asher, shaking him and asking him to wake up. But his eyes remain shut. Woman kept on pleading to gods and demons to save Asher, to not let his life go to waste from the fight against evils that never should exist in the first place.

———————————————————————————————————

Asher opened his eyes to yet another peaceful day. His body was old and fragile, almost devoid of life. He lived alone with nobody to take care of him, as he had outlived all of his friends and relatives.

Though people called him blessed, Asher often felt cursed. Born on September ninth, 1900, he had lived a long life filled with near-death experiences.

Asher slowly stood up and reached for the stick beside his bed, using it as support to make his way to the kitchen. Just then, the doorbell rang. It surprised Asher, as he rarely received visitors.

He opened the door to find a man in his forties, with partially white hair and wrinkles. The man was clearly wealthy, judging by his suit and car.

"Sorry, Sir. I came to find out if you are Asher Ducan?" the man asked, looking at Asher with a glimmer in his eyes.

"Yes, I am. And you are?" Asher replied looking straight into the eyes of a man, trying to make a few observations that could help him understand his purpose of presence. It was an old habit of Asher since army, from the days when he used to work as a trainee for young ones, he required to have some skills to tell the difference between those that will wet their pants on the first bullet that will pass next to their head and those that will keep their calm and execute any command using all they have to offer.

"I'm Henry. You might not remember me, but I've kept you in my mind for my entire life. Do you mind if I come in and explain myself?" Henry asked, showing a small but sincere smile.

As a veteran, Asher had learned to tell the difference between lies and truth. He had experienced many unpleasant things during his time in the military, and those experiences were deeply etched in his mind.

Henry noticed a saber on a stand made of wood atop the chimney. The saber looked like an antique, but it was also clear that it had been used for a long time.

"Sir Asher, what is this saber? It looks like an antique, but it also looks like it has seen many battles," Henry asked, turning to look at Asher.

"It's a long story, but it was a gift from my dear friend who was like a father to me. I carried this weapon with me throughout my years of service, even though I served in different armies around the world. It was a loyal companion that kept me warm and safe in times of danger. It might sound childish, but it's my talisman that guards me," Asher explained, a small sad smile on his face.

"Should I make some tea or coffee since I have a guest?" Asher asked.

Henry quickly approached Asher. "No, no, no. You don't need to be so welcoming. Let me help you with that."

Asher thought to himself, 'He is quite a nice man, but I don't understand why he came here, or maybe I just forgot who he was. My memory about things and people has been getting foggy for the past 20 years or so.'

Feeling exhausted, Asher laid his head on the pillow to relax his old bones. "Ahhh, so soft and comfy. I don't want to move an inch from this point. It's so relaxing and alluring. Nothing bad will come out of a small nap," he thought.

Meanwhile, Henry went to the kitchen and prepared some tea. When he returned to the living room with two cups of tea, he saw that Asher had fallen asleep. But something was odd. His chest was not moving.

Henry hastened towards Asher and tried to feel his pulse, but it was absent. He quickly dialed the number for paramedics, but as he waited for them to answer, he looked towards Asher, who had a smile on his face.

With a heavy sigh, Henry hung up the phone and looked at the old man. "I was too late. I had hoped to do something good for someone who made me who I am, but I was too late.I guess this is how it is for people of his age we all fear death the closer and closer it approaches us, but for someone that lived for over 100 years and lost all dear people, there is nothing holding him back and nothing that he could do with old bones of his. I wish him luck in his endeavors in the heaven and hopefully he found his peace.'
