Shane stopped looking at the scrawny man's dead body before looking back over to the three men who were about ready to shit their pants.
"H-Hey man we don't want any trouble," Axel said with a shaky voice.
"I don't want any trouble either, but you see now if I let you go who knows if you might bring back trouble," Shane said with a frown while staring at Axel making him fidget.
"No man we wont come back, I promise. Right, Oscar? Big Tiny?" Axel asked the two guys standing next to him.
"Just shut up man," Oscar said while holding his hands up.
"We can't let you go, either you're coming with us or we put you down, right here right now," Rick said while pointing his revolver at them and stepping closer.
"I- I have money! I'll give it to you." Axel said while nodding as if it was a done deal.
Shane and everybody looked at each other in silence for a second.
"Hahahaha!" They all burst out laughing before Shane looked back at the three men.
He realized they hadn't even stepped outside this room since shit went down. This calmed him down a little as these men couldn't be a part of any other group yet.
"Maybe you can buy me a burger. Tie them up, we are bringing them back with us." Shane said to T-dog who went and zipped-tied their hands before Shane and the rest went to the back of the cafeteria and opened up the pantry.
"They were loaded," Daryl said while they all looked at the pantry that was stocked with months worth of food.
"Hell yeah, they were. Put it all on a cart were taking it with us." Shane said and they hurriedly transferred all of the food onto a few carts before they rolled it out and stepped back into the corridors with T-dog, Maggie, and Rick watching the prisoners in case they tried anything.
"This way." Daryl saw the arrow Glenn had spray painted and they started walking back to their cell block.
On their way back they didn't see a single walker meaning they had pretty much cleared them all out.
Though there were still other cell blocks and a gap somewhere they'd have to take care of.
A few minutes later they were inside the cell block and Andrea was using the keys to unlock the metal gate which separated the open area from the cells.
"How did it go," Andrea said while glancing behind him to see if everyone made it back.
"Just peachy. Found the cafeteria and cleared out most of the walkers in the corridors." Shane said while getting a small hug from Amy who was relieved to see he was okay.
"Who are they?" Andrea pointed to the three men they had tied up and gagged.
Rick went and put the three men in a cell they had outside of their own little area. They were using it as a little jail though Big Tiny who wasn't so tiny was taking up most of the jail cell.
"Our new friends. Found them holding up in the cafeteria closet. Had to kill two of them." Shane said making Andrea and Amy look surprised.
"What are we going to do with them?" Amy said while glancing at them with suspicion.
"Rick will ask them some questions and why they are locked up but if nothing goes wrong well probably let them join us. We need more manpower and finding people who haven't already found a group is going to get hard," Shane said
"That's true but what if they hold a grudge for killing their friends?" Andrea asked
"I don't think it was their friends. They didn't seem to care too much. Besides I'm sure Daryl will be keeping a good eye on em." Shane shrugged before they wheeled in the carts of food to one of their cells where they were keeping their food supply locked up.
It wasn't really that complicated to him, they couldn't possibly kill everyone they met in the future just because of suspicion, though if he didn't like something he had no problem killing them.
After making sure all of their supplies were stowed away he went back over to where the others were keeping an eye on the three men who were locked up.
"Un gag em," Shane said to T-dog while cleaning his bloodied hands with a rag.
"I don-" Axel tried to speak but Shane cut him off.
"Listen up. You can join our group but if I don't like the way you are breathing I'll watch you turn real slow." Shane with a slight smirk that looked straight psychopath with his bloodied skull vest staring at them.
"T-Turn what's that?" Axel asked with a stutter while looking at all of them confused.
"For Christ's sake, T-dog take them outside and teach them something." Shane waved his hand, annoyed.
He couldn't even make a proper threat with these three clowns.
"Daryl go with him." Shane nodded at Daryl who hadn't stopped glaring at the three since they found them.
"Glenn grab the others, we need to clear all the walkers out of here and the courtyard before they ruin our soil," Shane said to Glenn
"On it." Glenn ran off to get the others while he walked outside onto the concrete area and saw the three new guys looking shocked and Oscar was even on one knee.
"You three can cry later, it's time for work." Shane slapped Axel on the back almost knocking him over before handing him a crowbar.
"Wh-whats this?" Axel said nervously while looking at the crowbar.
"Stutter again and I'll rip your tongue out," Shane said while slapping Axel on the cheek a few times making T-dog chuckle before they all followed him out into the courtyard area where their cars were still parked around last night's campfire.
"See those walkers on the outer fence?" Shane said while nodding toward the dozen of walkers that had built up around the outer fence and were running into it.
"You three are on fence duty while the rest of us clean up the bodies. Daryl and T-dog here are gonna keep a safe eye on you." Shane nodded to Daryl and he led them to the gate that went to the outer fence.
Soon he saw the rest of the group minus a few people come outside and they all began unloading the vehicles of tons of supplies, weapons, tents, medicine, etc, before taking it into cell block C which was going to be the main cell block their group stayed in.
After that, they loaded all of the walker corpses onto the trucks before driving them out into a big pile and burning all of them.
After that, they all rested for the night with Shane finding his own little cell and settling down. The three new guys were locked up in the cells for the night since they couldn't be trusted yet.
About a week later winter had already come and they couldn't worry about starting to grow crops or anything like that.
They started going on runs around the prison and soon they found a few supply depots and garden centers where they found all kinds of supplies.
Despite it being winter they all stayed extremely busy with them eventually clearing out all of the cell blocks and finding the huge knocked-over wall in the back of the prison which started their mission of fortifying that area and all of the prison's fences.
They spent months taking scrap sheets and fortifying each of the chain link fences within the prison making sure no walker or human could see within.
This helped keep quite a lot of the walkers away and no one from outside would be able to see their crops in the future.
They also added multiple metal poles to the chain link fences so that they couldn't be knocked over easily in the future.
He also thought about vehicles that could come by so they changed their own front gate to one that was lifted by a manual pull system so that the gate came up with spiked walls on both sides so walkers couldn't get through the gate while it was up.
Then they added a bunch of metal Czech hedgehogs that they had spent a long time building around the front of the prison where the chain link was.
This would stop cars from just ramming through the fence though the hedgehogs were cheaply made so it wasn't impenetrable but it could be reinforced in the future.
They refortified both watchtowers and added steel sheets along the top so they could safely peek over without being shot from below.
Surprisingly a few months into winter Glenn found a digger which they used to make an 8ft wide 6ft deep trench all around the outer fence in front of the hedgehogs which made it even more impossible for anyone to get to the fence let alone walkers.
Plus with the digger, they made the small river of water that had been right outside the prison run under the walls and into the courtyard so that they didn't need to go outside to get water.
Though they were worried someone might try and sneak under the fence through the water so they added a few chain link fences in the water so that nothing or no one could get through without getting stuck or drowning first.
With the massive moat now around the outer area of the front side of the prison they were forced to make a bridge for the vehicles that they built using counterweights to both raise and lower the bridge which was made of steel.
Despite all of that Shane still wasn't completely satisfied so he then took all of the camouflage netting they had gotten from the wannabe military group and made both watchtowers completely full of camouflage before having a sniper in ghillie suits man each one full-time on rotating shifts.
He was still worried about the woods that surrounded the front of the prison since he didn't like the idea of anyone just spying on them and they couldn't see them.
He thought about cutting all the wood down at once but it would take too long unless they found a dozen chain saws which would attract a fuck ton of walkers while they tried to work so he canceled the idea for now.
He also thought about just burning the entire forests but that would be a waste of wood and the trees helped hide the prison so that wouldn't work either.
He then thought of an even better idea. He took a dozen people using the barbed wire they found and wrapped each tree on the perimeter of the woods with barbed wire before hanging up wind chimes all throughout the forest which attracted walkers but kept them within the woods like a sea of walkers making it deadly for anyone unprepared.
Of course, they would need to keep an eye on it to make it didn't get out of hand but that wouldn't be a problem for them.
They still had a lot to do like reinforce the back of the prison even more and make all four cell blocks within the prison look nice and more open but four months passed in the blink of an eye and it wasn't winter anymore.
"Hahh." Shane took a deep breath of the fresh spring air.
"It's open season baby," Shane smirked while looking through a pair of binoculars over the prison fence far away to where a plume of black smoke could be seen rising high into the air.
"Let's go hunting."
