Helena's hands were trembling, and she broke into a cold sweat. What the guards had just told her had left her even more shocked. Wasn't there supposed to be a trial? Why immediate execution?

"As far as I know, Lord Ethan has not yet had a trial. Why is he suddenly scheduled for execution tomorrow?" Helena asked without hesitation, voicing what was on her mind.

The guards exchanged glances. "Were you not informed? Didn't Duke William inform Prince Maximilian?" one of them asked. "The King also sent an official letter to inform your kingdom about the change of situation."
