Chapter 36: The Witch's Daughter

Once upon a time, there was a young girl, and she had an uncountable number of names. She was called The Forgotten, The Bastard, The Seductress, and also the… Witch's Daughter.
With a pair of enchanting eyes and long, ebony black hair, her appearance mesmerized all, no matter where she went—and this also resulted in her nickname: succubus.
Though, this wasn't wrong either, as she was the daughter of a witch from the east lands of magic.
Now, witches differed from magicians and wizards. Witches were those who practiced dark magic, a forbidden magic even in the lands of magic. In exchange for the souls and hearts of the innocent, one obtained power. Extreme power. And with that power, came wealth and an undeniable influence, an influence that everyone else couldn't help but lower their heads towards.
Perhaps this was the future that the young girl's mother saw when she stumbled upon a dying witch who had been willing to hand over her inheritance.
But as the young girl's mother, who had just been a vagrant child back then, stretched out her bony hands towards the witch, she didn't understand at the time how famous a witch's legacy was, how many people she had to kill to contain the power she got, the sad and desperate look in the dying witch's eyes, and how, people were creatures bound to change.
As the vagrant had no home or any attachments, she was able to get powerful easily in the isolated villages nearby.
In a flash, the newborn witch grew up, got her own small family of 3, with her financial situation getting better and better due to the jobs and power she had gotten as a witch.
But her happiness was brief.
As more and more people found out about her witchcraft, the witch couldn't hide it from the officials.
She hadn't even realized what was happening when she walked into a trap that her beloved husband had personally set up for her, or when she was being shipped to the capital of the city to be executed.
She was a powerful witch who had committed countless sins, massacred villages, but she was also just a naïve young woman, a young woman who didn't quite understand the hearts of men and the importance of life.
But nonetheless, she knew that she didn't want to die. So when the king of Marude, who had been in the land of magic at the time, extended an olive branch to her, she immediately grabbed it.
He promised her a life of luxury and a world beyond a dark prison cell with a condition that she bore him a child, and she had agreed.
But little did she know that the 'life of luxury' was actually a year, and that the child she bore would be a monster in flesh.
The witch also didn't know that within the agreement she had signed, she had given permission for the king of Marude to snatch away the child—who had now become an adolescent — she had with her husband.
And that child… they took her to Marude for a series of crude experiments that finally resulted in her bearing a fully sane human being within her stomach.
Those as for if the sane human being would be able to fulfil the southern king's ambitions… that was uncertain, even as the child grew up.
That child… that was me, Lancera Delacroix.
