Chapter 199: Chapter 199: Explosion

Just as the sensing ninja of the Iwa-nin noticed something was off, in the middle of the camp stood a tall building. A middle-aged Iwa-nin, wearing an Iwa-nin forehead protector along with a red headscarf, faintly sensed something was wrong.

Before his subordinates could respond, a black, slender beak suddenly broke through the building's main door with a muffled sound and appeared in front of him.

Immediately following was a series of continuous heavy impacts, leaving him and his subordinates bewildered.

"Where's the sensing ninja? What's happening? Is there an enemy—"

Before he could voice his question, a sense of imminent danger dawned on him as a Jōnin. He looked down and saw a barely audible sizzling sound coming from the beak that had penetrated the building.

"Explosive tags!!"

He only managed to let out a sharp warning before using a ninjutsu to escape underground, hoping to avoid the impending explosion.

At this moment, not only this building but also the tallest buildings in the camp were targeted by these wide-winged chakra constructs. Some crashed straight through doors, while others pierced deep into the walls with their long beaks, momentarily flashing with lightning, enabling them to penetrate the thick Iwa-nin walls.

Around the camp, ghost-like figures threw kunai through doors and windows into smaller buildings. By the faint firelight in the camp, one could barely make out paper tags covered in strange markings attached to the kunai rings—purchased by Tōshirō from the black market earlier.

Those throwing these deadly weapons into the Iwa-nin buildings were Uchiha members who had just been dropped from the birds' backs. Relying on their physical abilities surpassing ordinary people and their prior preparations, they overcame the discomfort of the "airdrop."

Without a moment's delay, each quickly threw their prepared explosive tags into buildings likely housing Iwa-nin, fully aware that failure to cause significant damage in this surprise attack would lead to severe retaliation from any surviving Iwa-nin. Their survival hinged on the effectiveness of this assault. Thus, they dared not be negligent.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

Within just three to five seconds, as the barrier orchestrated by Tōshirō had barely risen, continuous explosions erupted from the buildings. Bright firelight and smoke followed.

The explosions from the specially targeted tall buildings were particularly deafening. The simultaneous detonation of five birds carrying a total of 150 explosive tags produced a force comparable to that of an S-rank jutsu.

Crash!

As the explosions subsided, debris continued to fall, mixing with severed limbs.

"The essence of war is explosions!"

Illuminated by the intermittent firelight, Tōshirō unemotionally watched the collapsing buildings and the terrified screams mingled with the explosion sounds.

For this assault, including his purchase of 600 explosive tags and what they originally had, they used a total of over 800 tags. Leaving just a few for emergencies, they deployed almost everything. While the exact results were unclear, the sheer visual and auditory impact was already astonishing, justifying the days of preparation.

To prepare for this assault, Tōshirō exhausted every possible method. The Iwa-nin camp, covered by a sensing barrier, was less than two kilometers away. Any ninja entering this range would be detected by Iwa-nin sensors. The buildings fortified by Iwa-nin made a surprise attack nearly impossible, let alone total destruction.

The outermost sensing barrier alone was difficult to breach silently. Though the barrier could falsely react to ordinary animals, the sentry guards generally prevented surprise attacks. This was a standard Iwa-nin defensive measure against ninja attacks.

To overcome this, Tōshirō began preparations three days earlier, sporadically controlling larger animals or creating chakra sources with his Super Beast Scroll to repeatedly trigger the sensing barrier, desensitizing the Iwa-nin sensors.

He worried that such tactics might instead alert the Iwa-nin but had no safer alternative. This deception secured the few seconds needed for his chakra birds to dive across the barrier, covering the distance.

Despite his fears, he had to take the risk, as without it, they had few viable attack methods beyond a direct assault, which would result in heavy casualties.

With at least 60 permanent Iwa-nin in the camp, possibly nearing 100 with those receiving supplies, treatment, or resting, they had the tactical advantage. Even in Sage Mode, it would be challenging for Tōshirō to handle the camp. Moreover, his clan members would inevitably perish, aside from himself.

Thus, in this critical juncture, Tōshirō's meticulous planning and execution culminated in this explosive surprise attack.
