Chapter 4: Chapter 4

As Kiara was rushed to the hospital by her grandparents, she was very weak and barely conscious. Lawrence and Evelyn Davis hovered anxiously by her bedside, their faces etched with worry.

"Oh, Kiara, darling, please hold on," Evelyn murmured, brushing a stray lock of hair from her granddaughter's clammy forehead.

Lawrence clasped Kiara's hand gently, his voice thick with emotion. "Stay strong, sweetheart. We're here for you."

In the hospital hallway, Lawrence and Evelyn paced anxiously, waiting for news from the doctors. Lawrence's phone buzzed with a message, and he quickly checked it.

"It's from the board members," he said, his voice tight with anger. "They're demanding an update on Kiara's condition."

Evelyn's eyes narrowed with determination. "Tell them nothing until we know more. We won't let them use Kiara's illness against her."

Lawrence nodded in agreement, his jaw set with resolve. "They won't lay a finger on her. We'll fight tooth and nail to protect her and her rightful place as the heiress to Davis Hotels."

Meanwhile, in the hospital room, Kiara stirred weakly, her eyelids fluttering open. Lawrence and Evelyn rushed to her side, their faces lighting up with relief.

"Kiara, my dear, how are you feeling?" Evelyn asked, her voice trembling with concern.

Kiara managed a weak smile. "I'm... I'm okay, Grandma. Just a bit tired."

Lawrence squeezed her hand gently. "You gave us quite a scare, sweetheart. But you're going to be just fine."

Kiara's eyes filled with tears as she looked up at her grandparents. "I'm sorry, Grandpa, Grandma. I didn't mean to worry you."

Evelyn brushed away a tear from her cheek. "Oh, darling, you have nothing to apologize for. We're just relieved that you're safe."

Lawrence leaned in to kiss Kiara's forehead. "We love you, Kiara. And we'll always be here for you, no matter what."

Kiara smiled weakly, feeling a wave of gratitude wash over her. Despite the uncertainty and challenges ahead, she knew that with her grandparents by her side, she could face anything.

Suddenly Davis phone rang, he answered the phone with a worried tone. "Hello?"

Robinson's voice came through the line. "Lawrence, it's Robinson. I trust you've had time to consider my proposal?"

Davis sighed, "Robinson, I'm afraid now is not the best time. Kiara's been hospitalized."

"Hospitalized? What happened?" Robinson's concern was evident in his voice.

"It's a long story, Robinson. She's stable for now, but we're waiting on updates from the doctors," Davis explained.

"I see... I hope it's nothing serious. Can you tell me which hospital she's at? I'd like to send Mike over to come see her," Robinson offered.

"I appreciate the gesture, Robinson. She's at St. Mary's Hospital on 5th Avenue," Davis replied.

"St. Mary's Hospital, got it. my son will be there shortly," Robinson noted.

"Thank you, Robinson," Davis expressed his gratitude.

"Take care, Lawrence. And give my regards to Kiara. I hope she gets well soon," Robinson said before ending the call.

"I will. Goodbye, Robinson," Davis responded, ending the conversation.

I wonder why Robinson won't get over this proposal" Davis muttered to himself

At the Robinson mansion, Robinson called out to his son Mike from the living room. "Mike, come here. I need to talk to you."

Mike, engrossed in his own affairs, groaned inwardly but reluctantly made his way to where his father was seated. "What is it, Dad?"

"I need you to go and see Kiara at the hospital," Robinson stated firmly.

Mike bristled at the request. "Why should I? She's not my responsibility."

"She's family, Mike. And family takes care of each other," Robinson countered.

"But I have plans, Dad. I can't just drop everything because Kiara's sick," Mike objected.

Robinson's expression hardened. "Mike, you will go and see her. It's not up for negotiation."

Mike felt a surge of frustration. "And if I refuse?"

Robinson's voice turned cold. "Then you can say goodbye to all the privileges you enjoy as my son. No more allowances, no more access to the family trust fund. You'll be on your own."

Mike's jaw clenched as he realized he had no choice. Without another word, he stormed out of the room, grabbing his Mercedes-Benz key on the way out.

The doctor approached Mr. and Mrs. Davis with a gentle demeanor. "Mr. and Mrs. Davis, it's crucial for Kiara to get plenty of rest right now. That's the best thing for her recovery."

Mr. Davis furrowed his brow with concern. "But doctor, is there anything else we can do to help her? We're terribly worried about her well-being."

The doctor nodded understandingly. "I completely understand your concern. Right now, rest is paramount. We're closely monitoring her condition and will keep you informed of any changes."

Mrs. Davis clasped her hands tightly. "May we stay with her a while longer? Just to be near her."

The doctor smiled kindly. "Of course, you're welcome to stay. But please try to keep the environment calm and quiet. It's essential for Kiara's recovery."

Mr. Davis nodded appreciatively. "Thank you, doctor. We'll do everything we can to ensure Kiara gets the rest she needs."

Then Mr and Mrs Davis left the hospital to go prepare other things at home and be back to the hospital shortly.

Mike's frustration simmered as he stormed out of his home, the echo of his father's ultimatum still ringing in his ears. He needed time to clear his head, so he made his way to his friend's place, seeking solace in the familiarity of companionship.

Hours passed in a blur of restless pacing and anguished contemplation. As afternoon cast its warm glow over the city, Mike finally felt a semblance of calm settle over him. With a resigned sigh, he made the decision to face his responsibilities and head to the hospital to see Kiara.

Pulling his car keys from his pocket, he steeled himself for the encounter ahead. The drive to the hospital was filled with a tense silence, punctuated only by the rhythmic hum of the engine.

Arriving at the hospital, Mike took a moment to gather his thoughts before stepping out of the car. As he entered the building, a wave of apprehension washed over him, but he pushed it aside, focusing instead on the task at hand.

Navigating the maze of corridors, Mike eventually reached Kiara's room. Pausing outside the door, he took a deep breath to steady himself before pushing it open.

Inside, he found Kiara resting peacefully, her face softened by sleep. Relief flooded through him at the sight of her, and for a moment, all his worries seemed to melt away.
