Chapter 1: Chapter One

''Previously,''

His eyes widened once he had the wind knocked out of him. The freezing remains of his sisters ice, still effected him, loosely, and weak now, but still acted as a means to keep him distracted and his focus to be on keeping himself alive. Even though, the realization hit him, after taking in the faces of some of the cold and warm ones. Their faces all lit up by the warm ones fiames, seeing no use for the torches, kept by the cold ones, who couldn't produce fire.

This was planned for him.

This was for him and him only. No signs of Barron anywhere near by, told him, the punishment was mean't to be shared by both. Which as he thought, sent a wave of relaxation to calm his muscles, and bones. He wasn't going to have to feel defenceless, as both of them die. No, this was only going to be him. Edward, Kal, prince, highness? Neither of those names mattered anymore. Soon, he'd be nothing but a distant memory, sent to the afterlife, with some stupid, stappy, message, printed on some tomb stone, in his memory.

He was to be hanged at dawn....

***

The fall wind blessed him soft and slowly, as the night disappeared, causing the stars to return to their original hiding place in the sky, as the clouds rolled, moving and separating to make way for the sun. The sunny breeze, he'd always admired as a growing child. Although now that the dark truth had finally been revealed to him, he couldn't look at the sun the same. To him now, it acted as a simple clock. A clock painted in light orange, that gave off a orange hue, the blinded him from time to time. The summer clock was his way, of telling the time. Mainly to tell him how long he had till he was supposed to be taken out of the picture. And in front of everyone, everyone who'd once looked up to him as a noble and kind hearted gem. As a child, his image wasn't so easily bulit. He was weak, the weak prince of Nation Valley. What did he have to offer anyone? Nothing. Unless you counted a few really tiny fire balls, that would go out before even reaching the targets. How shameful, and pitiful he'd once been. Can he really tell himself he'd changed? And if he did, can anyone tell him it was for a noble cause? Any changes mean't darkness, that's the simple list of the truth.

It wasn't a false truth. no, nothing about the truth was faked or false. This was truly happening. No way to dream yourself out of a mess such as being hanged in front of your entire kingdom. The blame had been settled onto him. Somewhere, even then, he could make out the eyes of his family. Sad, how he was the only one who could truly see through them. Truly look through the windows and be able to describe exactly what he could see. The eyes belonging to a monster.

A monster and their assistance.

The rope around his neck grew tighter the more the wind came at him. Pushing his body lightly back and forth, although the binded job behind him, holding his hands firmly in place, were there, acting to keep him in place, so he wouldn't fall off the stool before it was the time. The torches he once had a really good view of, had now all vanished. Having been put out, from the replacement of the dawn, that made its way through the once clouded, crowed sky. His head still throbbed, as he was forced to grunch his face, growing and mumbling to himself, as his eyes were shut, tightly, embracing and trying to pull through with the pain of the leftover frost bite, that had crept its way into his recent wounds. The scar in the corner of his head, just above his head, didn't seem although that of something to be pained about. But it was true to him, no one else had any idea what was truly going on. Neither one of them had been there to catch Alice in the act, no one had been there to stop his father, not today. Not even those few years ago.

He opened his eyes soft and slowly, the pain dimming in hurt, as it came him just a little bit of time, to take in his new surroundings. He was still in the middle square. The leftover pieces of his parents statue, which he could see was still in rune, from the time Aaron was convinced he'd be sent to Earth if he destroyed it. Sadness flowed through his body, up and down till it reached the top of his head. His mothers face. He could still make out the very imagery of her beautiful face, even past all the broken pieces of rumble, and coloring. The pit in his empty stomach turned, and crunched down onto its self, as he was left with even more pain, as it mixed with the frost bite. How could she allow so much suffering and heartache to go on? How could she just stand there, and support a man and child commit so much violent and chaos, even through closed doors. It was clear no one had any reason to blame, his father, or Alice, for his treason the first time, had gotten the blame to be pushed onto him. And now, he wasn't just sharing it all, alone.

Not completely alone. It just mean't that he wasn't being killed first. Barron, who was somewhere, watching from a distant, would be killed second. Resulting in Edward being unable to rescue him, for he'd been killed first. Which in any case would make it impossible for him to be able to tell the people anything he had learned about his fathers awful dealings. Who was going to believe a demon? A lash, no one even need a demon was on Nation Valley.....

''Have you finished reflecting on your actions yet, worm?'' Mocked a female's voice. Edward who recognized it in two seconds, held his head high, his eyes bowing to stare down at the person mocking him. In the span of a few hours, there was only one person who'd called him ''worm'' The disgust he suddenly felt flowing through him, was that of gigantic. Even though he still had to worry about keeping the effect of the ice, from reaching his brain, that didn't mean, he couldn't set himself up for a last minuet tear down. The last and finale tear down he was going to get from his beloved sister.

''Even still, on the day of your execution, you still want to behave rudely towards me? Shame? Why couldn't you just beg for your life like everybody else? Geez? it'd would've at least made this a little bit harder...'' She complained.

''Why? Your sentencing me to death? What's so hard about this?'' Edward groaned.

''Isn't it obvious? Or are you just brain damaged from my ice, you completely forgotten?''

''Forgotten what? I'm the one with rope tied around my neck? What am I supposed to be forgetting?''

''Your still my brother, even though you commited all those terrible crimes. Even now, I don't see you as anyone different. Your still the Edward, I've always known.'' She smiled. Her smile was clearly that of an act. Anyone in the audience could clearly see that. But even through her poor acting job, no one even tried to say a single word. No, they were all to convinced the crimes had truly been committed by him.

''How dare you!'' He shouted. ''How dare you stand there, staring at me, with those innocent eyes, while secretly deep down, it was you and father who commited all those horrible acts! You know damn well, I wasn't around when Cole was imprisoned! How the hell could I have been responsible for that?!''

''This isn't about Cole. No, everyone knows what happened to Cole. A simple accident, that's all. Besides, I'd refrain from mentioning Cole, the incident still makes father upset..'' She whispered. ''As does this...''

''Why would sentencing me to death make him feel anything! He knows damn well this is all because of him!'' Edward shouted, which caused the people in the croward to gasp, as more conflict was put onto him. Edward was already deemed the bad person here, why not add some more to make him look bad, like outbursts, and toned out alicucations towards his father, the king. ''When I get out of here, Alice, I'm going right for you. I'm going to burn you alive, do you understand me?!'' He hissed, the angry side taking him over, as his mind filled with addrline. The pain he felt throbbing against the side of his head, was now evenly matched by that of his storming rage. His flames as well as his emotions firing up in under a few seconds. Although with a light touch to his forehead with the light tip of her finger, Alice was able to send more freezing pain throughout his body. Burning and freezing the top of his skull in seconds, as his entire forehead resembled that of a blue hue. Almost reminding him of what Aaron looked like, when they'd seen him come out of the alley, during the second fight in which he and the others had been heavily injured, and Barron forced to go through hell, worried about his brothers well being. Yes, because of Aaron turning onto the darkside, and embracing his new side as a well powered vampire, so much chaos and so many lives have been lost. Was it truly a understatement for him to finally get his dashing end? Although, he was sure if he'd been able to choose how he'd go out, this most likely wasn't going to be one of the choices he pick.

Execution by hanging? Possibly the painfullest death there could be. Watching as the person is forced to hang for moments, swinging back and forth, as the air is sucked out of them, unable to replace it by taking a fresh air. Wondering to themselves if there was anyone who'd be out there to get them down, in the end, no one would come, and their skin would turn blue from lack of oxygen till the brain died, followed by the body two seconds later. It was one of the worst ways for anyone to go out. Edward, for the first time in a long while. Found himself terrified as he neared closer and closer to his time of departure.

He was almost convinced this was the end.

He was almost convinced this was going to be his end..... Only when he heard loud screams, and cries from people in the croward, did he suddenly feel the light, as it shined down underneath him. As the light blue shade of the beautiful sky...sent a gust of wind to brush past his body, did he hear the firm slicing of what seemed to be a large blade, did a smile come to his face....

Freedom.....he thought to himself....
