The demon took a different form when it had consumed Viktor’s magic. That was something Ronin and even Michael could not tell me, or maybe they didn’t know. How could they? I took a step back, and found myself hitting the back of something hard. But nothing was there when I turned around.

It felt like, despite there being a wide open and black-filled void in front of us, that we were both simultaneously trapped inside of a box. The demon shrieked again before it ran at me, and I barely had time to register what was happening before a hook came out from the darkness and buried itself into the demon’s head.

It was yanked away from me, and there I saw Viktor’s body. A nauseating expression overcame my face as I realized what I was looking at. The demon had taken over Viktor’s body, both physically and mentally. And part of the black sludge protruded from its side like a parasite.
