I didn’t know what to feel besides an unending grief.

It was like everything around me, from the tables to the stone walls to Bastian standing in front of me, had become inanimate. I could no longer feel myself attached to the reality in front of me, and even his wide, void filled eyes struck nothing in me.

I could feel the wetness of my tears, yes. I knew so much only to tell me that grief wrapped around me, like a cloak in the rain, like the sun in summer. Other than that? I could barely tell the movement of my fingers from my toes.

What was one to feel, after they were shown the death of their parents?

I lifted my eyes to look at Bastian, and barely could make out his features through bleary eyes. I was… I was at a loss for words, and the only thing I could think was that the man in front of me was nothing but evil. Nothing but malicious and unkind.
