Chapter 4: advice

I've got 4, 2000 word chapters ready and will have two more tomorrw but I need advice on how to get Kai involved in plot as he's the type of guy to protect people if he can but he won't go out of his way to like Scott, he'd rather stay uninvolved but I need a reaosn to get him involved so give me some ideas pls
