Chapter 14: The Art For Da Xue
Tao Xue smiled, as he looked towards his cousin brother, in a joyful manner, as if he had discovered something that would be of a great use to the whole of mankind, but he had just thought of an Art for his cousin, Da Xue. Choosing an Art is a very important milestone in their Cultivation to a Soul Cultivator, and any normal human wouldn't want someone with such a casual attitude as Tao Xue, take that decision of their life. But, Da Xue was different. He knew that his brother had a pretty peculiar way of thinking, but there was always a reason behind it, and that reason was something that surprises everyone when Tao Xue speaks. Most of his reasons are laid back, but that's because he himself is quite laid back, and that wouldn't be the case for Da Xue. Da Xue had the idea that his brother would think on a peculiar, but logical reason, without any laid back thoughts, as he wasn't choosing the Art for himself, and Tao Xue knew that his cousin was hard-working, and accepted challenges.
Tao Xue looked Da Xue in the eye, and spoke, "According to me, you should choose 'The Art Of Rejuvenation'. I know that you possess the skill to bend the wills of people, either your teammates, or even your opponents, so you can stall for time, or even pit your opponents against each other. This type of skill is counted in the offensive category of skills, and that's why you can use it on your opponents. The type of skill that you are lacking is a defensive type, and Rejuvenation is a defensive trait, which will overcome your weakness in battles, and prove itself to be the most optimum Art for you to choose. Well, let's forget that long talk that I just said, because that was just an extra reason as for why I wanted you to choose Rejuvenation. The primary reason is because I thought that Rejuvenation would look cool on you, when you would be using it, and other than that, it was just a gut feeling, nothing special at all."
According to Tao Xue, he hadn't said anything special, and it was just a gut feeling that he wanted his brother to choose 'The Art of Rejuvenation'. But, for any other person, his explanation was extremely useful and logical, that could be compared to the advice of a strategist. The only reason why Tao Xue was laid back, was because he didn't believe that he was a super-genius. He thought that he was an ordinary kid, from an ordinary background, with ordinary talent, living an ordinary life, and everything about him was ordinary, but. he didn't realize the hidden potential inside himself, and tap on it, instead, he refused to think of himself as someone special, at all. Right now, Da Xue was staring at his younger brother, wondering whom out of the two of them was older, and more experienced. He couldn't believe that all that logical explanation was just a side reason, while the main reason was just a mere gut feeling. It was not as if Tao Xue didn't know that a lot of people considered him to have talent that was way different from others, especially, the way he thought, and he was wondering about what his brother was thinking, as he spoke up, to ask a question.
He said to Da Xue, "Forget what I said, I'm sure it mad you quite confused. I'd like to ask you another question, by the way. In the 4 Seasons Academy, is there anyone who could rival the power of the Mayor of Tian City? The Mayor is called the most powerful existence of the city, but our Academy is one of the best in the whole province. After I heard about the existence of the Secluded Elders, I doubt that the Mayor would no longer remain the strongest in the whole City."
This seemed to calm down the erotic mood of Da Xue a little, who answered, "Yea, I guess so. The Mayor and the Principal of our academy are said to be on equal levels, and if that is true even a singe bit, he stands not even a single chance under any one of, or even the weakest of the Secluded Elders. As our talent stands, if the all of the Secluded Elders were to fight together, we could capture the whole province and turn it into a gigantic sect, but that's not our aim. If we do that, it'll only be a waste of time. It will only mean that we will have to administer more land, which basically means, more work. As for what you said, we could easily defeat the Mayor, but that would also mean more work on our hands, as we'd also have to handle the government affairs of the whole city. Well, that's it about conquering other places, at least for now."
Tao Xue slightly nodded his head, and looked at his brother, who was smiling, and in much better spirits than he was in previously. Tao Xue was curious about another thing, but this time, it wasn't about his school, but, rather, about the Patriarch, and why he was calling a meeting for all the young masters.
He looked straight, and asked, "Why's that damn old Patriarch calling a meeting for, and that, too, only for us, the young masters of the Xue family?"
Da Xue chuckled a little, and replied, still laughing a bit, "Hey, the Patriarch is also our cousin grandpa, you should disrespect him like that. Well, keeping that aside, I'm also called in the meeting, and I haven't been given any information, too, so let's just wait and watch."
Tao Xue replied, in a rather comfortable tone, "Well, I don't even remember how he looks, because I saw him the last time a couple of years ago. Another thing is that, he's old, and there's no problem if I call him old. Even though he's the family's Patriarch, he must face reality!"
This made Da Xue laugh out even more loudly, he couldn't just keep away from the laughter tht he gets from Tao Xue. He thought, "Just how could someone be so carefree and casual? Xiao Tao sure is lucky!"
From behind them, said a loud voice, "Hello, Xiao Da, how come you're here! Well, anyways, make yourself at home!"
After listening to this voice, Tao Xue's face turned into an expression of pure boredom, as he said, "Oh, crap!"
