Chapter 6: Soul Cultivation
Teacher Cheng Dai suddenly released his aura, and took all the students by surprise. His aura was as hot as fire, as cold as ice, and as fast as lightning. It had kinds of qualities in it. Until now, it was the most complex aura they had ever felt.
Teacher Cheng Dai raised his hand to his waist-length, and suddenly, the area around his palm was enclosed in a layer of ice. It was as hard as diamond, and its edge was as sharp as a sword's blade. He swung his had to his left, where there was a tree, (not just the trunk, but the whole tree, because they were in the out in the open) and sliced through its 1 foot thick trunk in an instant. The tree was sliced in two parts, and the upper half was about to fall on him. Just then, the whole area above his head was shrouded with floating flames. It looked like he was the God of Fire, with a halo made of fire, majestically floating above his head, incinerating everything that came towards him. The whole upper half of the tree was burnt to ashes. Then, his whole body suddenly disappeared, turning into a flash of lightning, and suddenly appeared in front of an armored dummy, which was 10 meters away from his previous location. His other hand also quickly turned into ice, and with both of his hands, he cut the armor just in a few quick slashes. After this, a spiky ball of ice, roughly 20 centimeters in diameter, started forming in the air. The ball gave off a chilling aura, that caused the whole class to start shivering, and their teeth to start chattering. Then, a few more balls of the exactly same shape and size started to form near the original sphere, until there were five of them in total. Just after the formation of the final sphere, teacher Cheng Dai jumped backwards by a few feet. Just as he had reached a safe place, the five spheres shrouded the dummy. Then, they all got closer and closer to the dummy, and just when the spheres met with the dummy in physical contact, they all blasted, spot on, leaving the dummy in a totally torn stature. He then jumped back to the location of another dummy, which was wearing even better armor that the previous one, and froze its armor in ice, which resulted in its defense capabilities weakening seriously. After it had weakened, he used fire to burn it, which resulted in cracks, and eventually the melting of the armor. When the armor was done for, he moved on to a huge statue, made of the same material as the high-quality armor. He jumped up 5 feet into the air, which was roughly the same as the statue's height. He then started hovering mid-air, and stretched his hand up into the sky. Suddenly, a huge bolt of lightning shot out of the clouds, rushing for his hand, and when it finally met his hand, it enveloped his palm completely. He then shot his palm at the forehead of the statue, and released the bolt of lightning into it. Just as his hand was back to normal, he landed on the ground, and jumped back about 5 meters. The lightning that was injected into the statue had slowly started developing cracks all over the statue, and suddenly, it blasted from the inside, its pieces falling apart.
The whole class was left in utter shock by teacher Cheng Dai's demonstration. All of the students were excited, even the ones who weren't interested previously were now interested in the demonstration.
Teacher Jun Yao was also a bit startled. He didn't think that teacher Cheng Dai's strength would be this strong. He was a bit surprised himself. After recovering from the initial shock, he addressed the students, "So, how was the demonstration? Great, right! I'll give you a brief explanation about what happened right now. By Cultivating the Soul type, the energy you absorb goes to your Soul, making you able to access the power of Heaven & Earth, which means you can access the power of the elements and nature, and that's what Cheng Dai did. By Soul Cultivation, you will look like a godly being to the masses, and that will be useful socially too, as you will be supported by people more."
The students were very surprised by now. They had always thought Soul Cultivation was the strongest type of Cultivation, but even if they are all equal, as teacher Jun Yao said, but Soul Cultivation is still the flashiest type. Most of them had already decided that they wanted to choose the Soul Cultivation as their type, but not all. Some of the smart kids had still not thought, because they had yet to see the demonstration of Mind Cultivation. Rumors had it, that Mind Cultivation was the most mysterious type of Cultivation, and that was something that they wanted to see a demonstration of.
Tao Xue was one of them, because he thought that Mind Cultivation was the easiest type. He had heard that Mind Cultivation is not suitable for battling on the front-lines, and is an easier job, because a Mind Cultivator just usually handles work which don't have real work involved, which just means that they don't have to get caught in life-or-death situations, nor had to sweat it out the whole day.
It was just the kind of thing that Tao Xue wanted. A job of equal value, equal repect, and equal pay, but less work was something he desired a lot. Not only him, though, because, after one kid pointed the part of Mind Cultivation being mysterious, now everyone wanted to see what Mind Cultivation would be like, and they were no longer hooked up on Soul Cultivation. That was quite the shock for teacher Hai Wang, who was previously proudly standing, tall as a statue, but now he was limping like a lifeless old man.
Tao Xue thought, "If the rumors of Mind Cultivation are going to turn out true, that's the type of Cultivation for me!"
