Chapter 50: the blue troll threat
The Blue Troll Threat
A week had passed since Kai and Zach's meeting with High Lord Mayor Barry Green. They had been taking on requests at the Adventure Guild, honing their skills and building their reputation. As they finished up their latest quest, they were walking back to town when Zach suddenly stopped in his tracks.
"Kai, look!" Zach whispered urgently, pointing to a nearby ridge.
Kai followed his gaze and his eyes widened in alarm. A large group of blue trolls had gathered, their imposing figures and menacing eyes a stark reminder of the danger they posed.
"Whoa, that's a lot of trolls," Zach breathed.
Kai nodded grimly. "We need to tell the Adventure Guild about this. Now."
They rushed back to the guild, their hearts pounding with urgency. Inside, they found the receptionist, a usually stoic woman, sitting at her desk.
"Receptionist, we need to report something," Kai said, trying to keep his voice steady.
The receptionist looked up from her papers, a hint of annoyance in her eyes. "What is it, adventurers?"
"We just saw a massive group of blue trolls gathered outside the city," Zach said, his voice low and serious. "At least 100 of them."
The receptionist's expression changed from annoyance to alarm. "100?! Oh dear gods..."
She quickly stood up and rushed to the High Lord Mayor's office, leaving Kai and Zach standing in the reception area.
"Wait here, adventurers," she called back over her shoulder. "I need to inform High Lord Mayor Barry Green of this threat."
Kai and Zach exchanged a grave glance. They knew they had to act fast to protect the city and its inhabitants. They could hear the receptionist's urgent voice through the door, speaking to the High Lord Mayor.
"Your Excellency, we have a crisis on our hands... A massive group of blue trolls has gathered outside the city... Yes, at least 100 of them... I understand, Your Excellency. I will summon the available adventurers immediately..."
The receptionist rushed back out, her face pale and worried. "High Lord Mayor Barry Green has ordered all available adventurers to gather at the city gate. We need to prepare for battle."
Kai and Zach nodded, their hearts racing with anticipation. They knew this was going to be a tough fight, but they were ready to face it head-on.
