Chapter 3: "A Warm Welcome"

As they entered Sophia's inn, Zac asked, "Ma'am, we're not from around here. We lived in the mountains with our grandparents, so we don't know much about this world."

Sophia's expression turned sympathetic. "Oh, dear, you're a long way from home, aren't you? Well, don't worry, I'll do my best to help you get settled."

Over a hot meal and fresh bread, Sophia told them about the town's market days, the nearby forests, and the local customs. Zac listened with wide eyes, soaking up the information like a sponge. Kai observed the inn's cozy atmosphere, feeling a sense of relief wash over him.

As they finished their meal, Sophia asked, "So, what brought you two down from the mountains?"

Zac hesitated, unsure how much to reveal, but Sophia's kind gaze put him at ease. "We... uh... our grandparents passed away, and we didn't know what else to do. We didn't know about this world beyond the mountains."

Sophia's face softened. "Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that. You're welcome to stay here as long as you need. I'll help you get settled and figure things out."

Kai smiled, feeling gratitude towards Sophia. "Thank you, ma'am. Your kindness means a lot to us."

And with that, the chapter ends, with Kai and Zac feeling a sense of relief and gratitude towards Sophia, who has taken them under her wing in this unfamiliar world.
