Chapter 21: [Basilisk?]

"Do you desire power, Alex Fawley?" Calypso asked me with a soft smile on her face.

I noticed that her face keeps shifting through various emotions, at one point she will have an insane grin on her face and then the next second a blank face, and now while asking me about obtaining power like an insane witch, she had the softest smile on her face with a gentle expression.

'Damn she's insane...'

"Who doesn't want power, Calypso was it?" I asked lightly, trying to stop myself from freaking out, I shouldn't show any fear plus I technically don't have a reason to back out and she would call it if I don't make sense.

"Why though? Do you wanna escape the Greengrasses control? Or do you desire something else?" Her face has once again gone blank as she carefully studied me.

"What does everybody know about the Greengrass situation?" I tried to portray a dismayed expression as I shook my head slightly in dejection.

"Your situation has been quite famous in the pureblood circles, last of the Fawley line, a most ancient and noble house, having most of your house business seized by the Greengrass and then they even managed to gain custody of you, I think it had something to do with some stipulation in your mother's will. Anyway, the Greengrass have cut themselves off from the pureblood circles, or more accurately they have cut off both of their children along with you by making an excuse of your safety. I don't know I heard this gossip from mother who was describing it to me, their reason only they could explain but in the eyes of other pureblood families they don't want Greengrass to flourish easily." She finished her tirade.

"So you are here to turn me against the Greengrass?" I asked lightly and leaned against a wall.

"I don't particularly care, that is mother's job, what I care about is your talent, it's a fucking waste to learn a knockback jinx with the amount of power you have that was the only reason I stopped you."

'Can't she give me like a straight answer, even that single statement of hers had two different expectations off me?'

"I told you though it was my first time using a spell above the first year, I wanted to start with a common spell to see how much effort it would take," I stopped leaning and looked straight at her, "I am Alex Fawley, heir to the Most Ancient and Noble house of Fawley, you won't think a little knockback jinx is all that I have right?"

"heh, interesting..." She giggled and her grin widened and I could lightly glimpse the insanity in her eyes, "So you say, heir Fawley," she stood up and waved her wand, the door opened up and she walked out, "until you need my help..." she threw the statement before walking out of the room.

I held my breath stable for a few seconds before sighing slightly, 'yeah, better to stay away from that one.'

I closed the book on the most famous and dangerous magical snakes species and sighed lightly.

'I have been sighing a lot lately, I thought Hogwarts days would be filled with quidditch and learning magic but...'

I ignored the thoughts flowing through and opened the book once again to focus on the hand-drawn picture of a 50m snake that just screamed stay the fuck off.

'can live for thousands of years, has big yellow eyes, looking into its eyes can cause death, is a snake so can be controlled by a parselmouth...'

"Yup seems like we have our killer...rooster's crowing is fatal? hmm, can be helpful... other than that I don't think any of my magic will work no matter how powerful it is, except if I can learn Fiendfyre which will take at least 3-4 years..."

I closed the book after taking down articles, when I heard a familiar voice, "So do Slytherin's get an additional homework or what?" Harry grinned as he sat down in front of me so I immediately started looking around to see if anyone noticed.

His grin slipped of somewhat as he asked, "You okay mate?"

"Yeah," I grimaced and said, "Being seen happily chatting with a Gryffindor and I won't be okay for much longer..." I sighed and palmed my face, "trust me you don't wanna know."

"Take care okay?" He said lightly seemingly understanding my worry, as he was about to stand up my stomach growled lightly, I blushed slightly and cast a quick tempus to see that I have missed lunch.

'there you go, the day keeps getting better and better.'

"You know what, I know a quiet place where no one would see us and we can take care of your problem..." his grin returned and at my questioning glance he continued, "Have you been to the Hogwarts kitchens?"
