Chapter 18: You need to pay for it

Classes are over, and Mateus engages in some conversations with his classmates. However, he doesn't forget about Sirzechs, so he takes out his phone and responds to the message as follows:

Mateus - Since you need a favor, it's better if we meet and discuss it. I have time today, where can we meet?

Sending the message quickly, Mateus doesn't expect an immediate response. To his surprise, the reply comes almost instantly.

Sirzechs - How about the same place as yesterday? It'll be easier for you.

Seeing that Sirzechs responded promptly, Mateus follows suit and replies.

Mateus - I'm on my way there, I'll wait for you.

With this exchange of messages, Mateus arranges to meet at Rias's school in Kuoh. Mateus, surprisingly eager to deal with this promptly, prepares to go to Kuoh. But before that, he needs to talk to a specific person.

Saying goodbye to his classmates, Mateus heads to the school entrance to meet Mahiru. Finding her, Mateus says, "Sorry, Shiina-san. I won't be able to go home with you today."

Saying this, Mateus feels the need to inform her. Mahiru quickly responds that it's not a problem and bids farewell to Mateus.

Now without further delay, Mateus walks in the opposite direction of his house, enters an alley, and suddenly disappears.

Mateus teleports to the vicinity of Kuoh Academy. He doesn't teleport directly to the location, as it would be a bit strange, at least from his perspective.

As it's the dismissal time, the school still has a lot of movement. So, Mateus decides to make his way into the school. Some people may give him strange looks since he's wearing the uniform of another school, especially one from Tokyo. Still, no one decides to ask or confront him. Perhaps there are already too many strange things in this school.

Navigating through the school, Mateus wonders where Rias's club room is. So, he decides to take extreme measures. He decides to ask for help. But not just from anyone. If you can ask for help from someone, why not ask the most capable person?

So, Mateus looks for Sona. Using his senses, Mateus accurately locates her. Walking toward her, Mateus finds himself in front of the student council room of this school. Without further ado, Mateus knocks on the door and waits for permission to enter.

"Come in." Hearing a voice, Mateus opens the door and enters the room. To the surprise of the people inside, the person entering doesn't belong to this school.

"Hello." With a cordial smile, Mateus greets the people in the room and looks at Sona, as if they were great friends.

"What do you want, Mateus?" In a more brusque tone, Sona questions the man in front of her.

Mateus doesn't understand why people are so wary of him, but he doesn't let it intimidate him.

"Don't be so aggressive, Sona Sitri. I'm not here with ill intentions. On the contrary, Sirzechs asked me to meet him at this school. To be more precise, in the club room of his friend Rias. And since I don't know the way there, I wanted to ask for someone's help to guide me. Nothing serious."

Stating his intentions surprisingly sincerely, Mateus reveals that he only wanted to know the direction to Rias's club room. But feeling that Sirzechs is still not present, Mateus is thinking about passing the time with the people in this room.

"But it seems Sirzechs hasn't arrived yet." Saying this, Mateus looks around the room and glances at a chessboard. But he leaves it at that; Mateus prefers not to say anything about that cursed chessboard.

"So, I'll ask Tsubaki-san to take you to Rias's club room." Being short and direct, Sona asks Tsubaki Shinra, the vice president of the student council, to guide him to the place where he will meet Sirzechs.

"Okay then, see ya!" Completely different from the indifferent treatment he received, Mateus bids farewell energetically.

Leaving the room, following Tsubaki, Mateus tries to have a little conversation with her as they walk.

"So, Tsubaki-san? Can I call you that? So, even though I accepted Sirzechs's proposal, I feel like I'm not very welcome here."

Trying to converse with the person beside him, Mateus feels it's futile because she responds with few words and appears very serious, as if on a mission or something.

Giving up on trying to talk to the indifferent person beside him, Mateus just follows her until they reach their destination. Then, a thought crosses Mateus's mind. 'Looks like my attempt to be friends with these devils was useless.' In fact, Mateus already knew the way to Rias's club; she guided him there last time. So, feeling the failure, Mateus just walks until they reach the destination.

"Thank you, Tsubaki-san." Just expressing gratitude, Mateus says goodbye to the person who guided him here.

Feeling some presences inside the room, Mateus just knocks on the door and waits for someone.

Opening the door, a beauty named Akeno greets him with a smile on her face. Feeling welcome here for the first time, Mateus can't help but smile back.

"We meet again, Mateus. Want to come in and have some tea?" Receiving such a good invitation, Mateus couldn't refuse.

"Sure." Entering and sitting down, Akeno serves him some tea, and they begin to converse.

"What brings you here today, Mateus?"

"Sirzechs arranged to meet me here to talk about something. So, I came as quickly as I could." Explaining why he's here, they start having various conversations.

Noticing Mateus's different uniform, Akeno asks, "Which school do you attend, Mateus?"

"I study at Shuchiin Academy, a pretty cool school." Omitting many details about his current school, Mateus gives some basic information.

"Isn't that the school only prestigious people go to?" Akeno knows a bit about the school Mateus attends, so she directly asks him.

"Yeah, you could say that." Mateus doesn't think it's best to avoid talking about it, so he's straightforward.

"Wow, your family must be well-off..."

"You could say that..." Not wanting to delve too much into this topic, Mateus goes with the flow and subtly changes the subject.

'Isn't Sirzechs taking too long?' Thinking this, Mateus can't help but feel a bit angry.

'He'll get what's coming to him when he arrives.' With vengeful thoughts, Mateus already knows what he'll do with the leader of the devils.

After waiting for a bit longer, Sirzechs arrives, but it wasn't a bad time; Mateus had a good conversation with Akeno, and they got to know each other better during that time.

With a bizarre smile, Mateus greets Sirzechs. "Hello, Sirzechs. So, what did you want to ask me?"

Seeing that Mateus doesn't have the best expression, Sirzechs acknowledges that he made Mateus wait for a long time.

"Before that, can I ask for some privacy?" Asking Akeno and the others present in the room to leave for a moment, Sirzechs achieves the privacy he wanted.

"If you wanted privacy, you could have just asked me. I can create a soundproof barrier, but now it's too late. I hope whatever you're going to ask is worth all the waiting you made me endure." Being direct, Mateus is not in the best mood.

"I wanted to ask you to train Rias and her peerage." Equally direct, Sirzechs releases his request at once.

"Are you kidding me? Do you think I'm a babysitter?" Perhaps due to Mateus's anger, he let out some of his sincere feelings, which surprised Sirzechs a bit.

Taking a deep breath, Mateus speaks again, but this time more calmly. "Can I know why you want me to train them?"

Now, Sirzechs responds to Mateus, who is a bit calmer. "In fact, they are still quite weak. If something happens, I don't know if they'll be able to handle it."

As a good siscon, Sirzechs always thinks of his sister's well-being. Mateus analyzes why and responds, "Well, if that's the case, there's no problem. But you'll have to pay for it, and, of course, for my waiting time too. I'm a busy man." Shamelessly, Mateus is already talking about payment and an extra fee for the time he had to wait.

Sirzechs can't be more surprised by this guy, so he says, "What do you want as payment?" Expecting complex or difficult things, he is taken by surprise when Mateus makes a relatively simple request.

"I want you to give me a house. Not just any house, of course; I think a mansion would be good, preferably close to where I live and with many rooms to accommodate my harem." Instead of spending his own money, Mateus sees this as a good opportunity to handle the matter.

Sirzechs finds it strange that it's just that, so he asks, "You only want a house? Nothing else?"

"Since you're asking for more, how about giving me your sister? Actually, she's quite beautiful, if I may say so, of course." Becoming bolder, Mateus responds to Sirzechs, hitting his weak point, his little sister.

"Over my dead body!" Angry, Sirzechs responds to Mateus's audacious proposal.

"I was just kidding, relax, man. Maybe…" Saying the last part in a whisper, which didn't go unnoticed by Sirzechs, only made him more irritated.

Without giving the devil a chance to say anything else, Mateus adds, "So, that's it, Zechs. I have time to train them on Saturday morning and Sunday; let me know by message if that time works for you. See ya, Zechs-kun." Finding a more convenient way to address Sirzechs, Mateus says goodbye.

Just teleporting back to his house, Mateus finally returns home.

After leaving and leaving Sirzechs behind, the devil himself is not in the best situation, but he can't help but laugh at the way he was called.

"Zechs? Huh. He might be funny, but I'll never let him lay a finger on Rias."

Being the good brother that he is, he needs to protect his sister from the clutches of the predator.

"I need to talk to Rias about this." Thinking about the training, Sirzechs waits for Rias to talk to her about the training that will be in the day after tomorrow.
