Chapter 33: Will you join the student council?

"Mateus, can we talk?" Hearing his friend with a serious face, asking if they could talk, Mateus realized it might be something important. After thinking for a moment, Mateus replied, "Sure, no problem. But first, I need to talk to Mahiru."

Miyuki immediately agreed, telling him where to meet. "Okay, once you're done, find me in the student council room."

Nodding and agreeing with Miyuki, Mateus headed off to find Mahiru. Luckily, her classroom was near his, so after just crossing a few hallways, Mateus quickly found her.

With an apologetic look, Mateus said to Mahiru, "Mahiru, I'm sorry. We won't be able to have lunch together today. Miyuki called me to the student council room."

A little sad and hesitant, Mahiru just nodded in agreement. Seeing this expression on her face, Mateus felt guilty and wanted to make it up to her. "To make up for the time we won't be spending together, how about we get a crepe after school? I can also make dinner tonight."

Hearing Mateus, Mahiru's spirits lifted, and smiling at him, she said, "It's a deal!"

Happy to have such a cute and beautiful girlfriend like Mahiru, Mateus said goodbye to her, gently patting her head. Thanks to one of his most powerful skills, Master of Headpats, it became something extremely enjoyable. Walking through a few more corridors and crossing part of the school, Mateus found himself in front of a large wooden door with a sign next to it that read: "Student Council."

Knocking lightly on the door, Mateus waited for someone to open it. However, someone opened the door unexpectedly, which was unusual for Mateus. Instead of thinking too much about it, he just went with the flow. Seeing that the person who opened the door was his classmate Chika Fujiwara, he greeted her politely.

Miyuki Shirogane, seeing that Mateus had finally arrived, said, "Glad you came, Mateus. Sit down, let's talk while we have lunch." Following the instructions, Mateus entered the room and sat down. Noticing another of his friends, Mateus also greeted Yu Ishigami.

With one more presence in the room, completing the student council, there was another girl present: Kaguya Shinomiya, the vice president of the Student Council. Although Mateus knew her well from the anime, he hadn't met her in person yet. However, every student at this school knew at least a little about who Kaguya Shinomiya was.

With this general knowledge in mind, Mateus took the initiative and introduced himself first. Looking at Kaguya, he said, "Nice to meet you, I'm Mateus Santos."

Similarly, with a formal smile, almost business-like, Kaguya introduced herself. "Nice to meet you, Mateus. I'm Kaguya Shinomiya. I hope we can get along."

Upon hearing Kaguya's introduction, a system that hadn't appeared for a while decided to show up.

Continuing, Miyuki said, "The Student Council would like to have you join our ranks. Would you accept working with us?"

Mateus had already expected this since he was a good student and had a friendly attitude. Mateus thought, 'What about Miko Iino? Won't she be part of this student council?'

Thinking he might have altered things with his presence, Mateus asked, "Let's say I accept, what position would I hold?" Miyuki, already expecting a question like that, replied, "If you accepted, you would take on the role of General Affairs."

Surprised, Mateus asked, "General Affairs? I thought you were also without an auditor..."

Responding to Mateus, Miyuki explained why he wasn't chosen for that position. "Actually, we don't have an auditor yet, but we have someone in mind. So, what do you say? Will you join the student council?"
