The old mage summoned water from the moisture in the air. Holding out his hand to receive the swirls of water in his palm, a dark energy clouded his eyes.
Wind danced around him, running over his maroon robes. His gray hair danced in live snakes in his head. His shadow writhed, horned and misshapen. His true form was something… otherworldly.
The wizard's lips pulled back into a sneering smile, each of his black beady eyes falling on me. I shuddered as I stared up at him.
My arm was missing. Half of my face was missing skin, dyed scarlet from a wound I'd received only minutes prior. I lay on the floor, staring up at my adversary.
I'm about to die. I told myself. This thing is about to kill me.
"Have you accepted your fate yet, worm?" The wizard's voice was a series of clicks and rattles.
An orb of clear water hovered in his outstretched hand. He overturned his palm, dangling the attack over my head.
"This water will cleanse you of this world," he told me. I could feel the necrotic energy of the water that dropped over my skull. Several holes was burned into my head. "Goodbye, pest. Return to dust as you were born."
I screamed as he smiled wider as water, burning hot, was poured over me. My skin melted over my eyes, blinding me.
But then, there was light. And a sound I was all too familiar with
