Chapter 42: Chapter 42: Unable to Resist

Clare POV

I managed to hold in my gasp as I was thrown back into the present and my eyes shot open. We were still in Leonel’s bedroom and I was still in his arms.

Yet, I didn’t feel half as good as I had only moments before. In fact, I felt rather nauseous and sick to my stomach.

Leonel had just told me he loved me for the first time…and I had returned the feelings with my own. After having the vision, however, it was clear to me that his love for me could very easily put him in danger.

The image of him sacrificing himself for me to keep me safe was burned into my brain.

I couldn’t let that happen. I wouldn’t.

Sweat started to cover my body as I stared at this man and the future I had just seen. My breath started coming in short gasps. The vision had started off so great, with me being his Luna, but then it had turned so quickly.
