Satoru begins walking out of the crypt behind Withers, the skeleton, confused about where the skeleton is going. He follows the skeleton but all he does is walk around the crypt aimlessly. He smiles tightly and walks to the large blown-out wall to his left.
"Are we ever going to rest?" Shadowheart speaks up gaining Satoru's attention. He turns to her with a tilt of his head.
"Oh sorry are you tired? Yeah, we can rest do you have anything like a sleeping bag or anything?" Satoru questions. Suddenly his vision is blocked by the character wheel and a glowing label. He focuses on it and says go to camp. He mentally chooses it and the party teleports to what he can assume is the camp. "What in the world just happened."
He looks around and notices that his party members are dispersed and going to their sides of the camp and setting up their tents. He looks around confused about how none of them are reacting to the fact they just teleported to a random area, but he guesses this is just a normal afternoon to them.
He begins to walk around the camp surveying the area taking in all the areas of this camp. It reminds him of a rundown temple full of debris and bricks everywhere. He walks down the stairs behind him and on his left he sees Lae'zel. He walks up to her hopefully starting a civil conversation.
"Hey Lae'zel I meant to ask. Are Githyanki rare in these parts?" He interrogates if anyone knows more about this world it would seem to be best to ask her for the time being.
"I expect I am your first," Lae'zel states.
"I mean I know of githyanki's, but I've never met one face to face." He responds.
"Of course you haven't" She turns her head away from him in disgust. "They would have cut you from navel to neck. You are no less alien to me than I am to you. I know of your kind, but I do not often encounter them. That large fleshy nose of yours looks like a mistake."
"You quite literally look like a walking booger with black paint on your face. Not to mention your abnormally large ears that have what I can only assume to be horns on the side of them." Satoru claps back.
"That outburst proves to me how childish you are." Lae'zel groans.
"Nuh-uh, you're the one who is childish." He points at her and sticks his tongue out further proving her point. "But my nose is that big right?"
"Decadent, then." She clarifies. "Lacking in economy. Like so much of this world and its undisciplined people."
"Moving on. How about mind flayers how much can you tell me about them." she shakes his head exhaling an annoyed breath.
"I understand much beyond your comprehension." She comments and Satoru looks around trying to find the cameras this has to be a joke at this point what is wrong with her? "More to the point, I know the cure for our condition. It is imperative we locate a creche. You'd do well to observe more and question less."
"How do people actually talk to you." Satoru begins rubbing his face trying to calm himself down. "What happens if we don't find a cure?"
"Yes. In great detail. It starts with a fever and memory loss." Lae'zel begins to paint the scene. "Then you start to hallucinate. Your hair falls out and you bleed from every orifice. Your bones will change form. Your jaw will split to allow room for four great tentacles. All skin will turn to gore, and be shed to reveal new flesh underneath. Then you have ceased to exist, and a mind flayer is born."
"Wow looks like you're already halfway there." Satoru jokes but all she does is glare at him. "Sorry."
"The first symptoms should have long since started though. That is what puzzles me." She says.
"That's good news though. We haven't had any symptoms." He smiles.
"Yes. If you give it no further thought. But anomalies lead to surprises" She interjects. "Bad surprises. Besides, what hasn't happened may yet come to pass."
Satoru nods with a tight smile and walks away. That conversation was not really worth all the headache. Yeah, he learned more but he could have done without her attitude. So it seems they haven't had any symptoms which is good but why haven't they? Does it have to do with the blue light that protected him from hitting the ground? It seems something is protecting him did it come with reincarnation, is this his guardian angel? Only time will tell.
With that, he walks back up the stairs moves to what he assumes is his side of the camp, and changes into his sleeping clothes. A long black sweatshirt with white pajama pants. He also sees in this bag he has his patented glasses. He fully changes and turns to see Gale staring at the fire and walks up to him.
"Go to hell," Gale states catching him off guard.
"Well hello, I guess. Did we change the way we say hello to people now? " He inquires.
"Ha no." Gale laughs. " 'Go to Hell.' An everyday expression. So trivial it's almost meaningless. But we've seen Hell. It's real and it isn't trivial"
"Are you ok dude?" He walks up putting a hand on Gale's shoulder.
"Devils, dragons, mind flayers - they used to be abstracts. Pictures on a piece of paper. What a difference a day makes. Now we have tadpoles slithering through our heads like carnivorous foeti." Gale turns to look Satoru in his eyes. "That's not abstract.
"Yeah you're not wrong we are in really deep shit but we'll make it through don't worry I'm the strongest." Satoru smiles patting him on the back.
Gale smiles back. "I like the confidence and point well made. I'll wake everyone bright and early. We'll need a healer before the wee one gets hungry."
Satoru nods and walks away towards the goth half-elf. "What were you two talking about?" Shadowheart interrogates immediately.
"Why? Were you wondering if we were talking about you if we were I trust you the conversation wouldn't have been so short." He flirts causing her to roll her eyes.
"I'd be careful with Gale." She warns.
"What's wrong with Professor Yaps a lot." Satoru tilts his head.
"He's a wizard. All they care about is power." She explains. "Let's hope we rapidly find a healer, You seem reliable. I think you know how important it is that we find someone who can cure us. Best if we can focus on that."
"You're not wrong at all. The sooner we get some help the better for all of us." He replies.
"Good. We might even get lucky and find one right away. As I see it, we're overdue some good fortune. Rest well." She nods and turns away into her camp. Satoru moves on and goes to talk to Astarion.
"Do you mind? I'm brooding." Astarion states shooing Satoru away and with that, he decides to go to bed. That was enough getting to know his party. he's not really tired thanks to his six eyes but he guesses he can sleep. He lies down in his sleeping bag and lets the darkness take over him into a peaceful sleep.
___________
"Good morning," Gale says waking him up. Satoru turns facing the wizard with a groan. Yep even in this new life he is still not a morning person. "You have to get up every second counts to rid of of these parasites."
Satoru groans louder gaining the attention of the other party members but he decides to finally get up and get ready for another day in Baldur's Gate. He wonders what today will bring him.
And with this chapter I am officially back. I've been gone due to me healing from an injury and setting up for school. I'll be updating more regurlary when I get the time. Enjoy the chapter of pure dialouge. My favorite (this is sarcasm I hate sialouge chapters).
