Chapter 30: You're in for a Great Misfortune

Qi Chao hadn't expected Chi Yu to get angry on his behalf, and his voice softened as he confessed to the furious young lady, "I hurt my lower back."

Chi Yu licked her molars, forcing down the surge of negative emotions that threatened to overwhelm her. 

She said to Qi Chao, "Take half a day off and go to the hospital to get it checked." 

Qi Chao stood there stunned for two seconds, then shook his head, trying to assure her that it was nothing. "It's just a minor injury, no need to—" 

But Chi Yu's dark expression cut him off, and he didn't dare continue. 

"I'll do as Miss says." 

As Qi Chao stepped out of the classroom, the bell signaling the start of morning self-study rang. 

The classmates who had been watching the scene unfold hurried back to their seats. Chi Yu, too, returned to her desk. 

While others pulled out their books, she took out her phone instead.
