Everyone stood there in silence, not sure how Maria would react. There was nothing but silence for many minutes before the sound of sobbing came from inside the house. Maria dropped to her knees as she covered her tear-stained face.
Nathan walked over to her, holding her close and rubbing her back. "We're here for you…"
"We all care for you… even if some of us are rude" Barnaby spoke up, aiming the rude part towards himself.
Maria continued to cry as the heroes started to circle her and try to comfort her. None of them really meant to be as mean as they were and they really were just that way because they were confused. They all felt a type of betrayal but knew that she had no control over her multiple lives.
Three identities were something huge that not everyone could handle. Even Kotetsu had times where having his two identities made everything hard. Maria was a singer by day than by night she was either a hero or a spy, depending on what was happening. If she was on call, she would just appear as a hero and disappear as quickly as she came. If she was a spy, everyone in the town freaked out because they seemed to think Twisted was some type of bad guy when in the end she was just misunderstood.
Maria never knew what life would ever bring her from when she first began the life of a hero in Sternbild. The town of heroes and villains trying to take control, granted villains almost succeeded when fighting against Barnaby and Kotetsu in the past.
Now there was a scene of happiness and sadness in one. Maria was crying and clinging to the heroes around her who were apologizing for being so harsh. She didn't say anything to them, she only hugged them and cried. They really wanted her to stay there, even if it meant having to use their pride as a way to say how sorry they were.
They really loved her. They want her there. They want her as family. In the end, they prevented her from leaving just because she learned that none of them wanted to lose her personality she brought to them each day.
Just the way life was before. That was what everyone wanted. That's what they all got.
