Chapter 34: A Heart Divided

"No! Let go of me!" Alex's voice tore through the shadows, their arms thrashing against the tendrils pulling them deeper into the Abyss.

But it was no use.

The cold, creeping darkness climbed higher, tightening its grip with every second, as if feeding off Alex's struggle. The sensation was suffocating—like drowning in shadow. Alex's breath hitched, panic settling in. I can't lose her... not like this... not now...

"Fight it, Alex!" Sarah's voice cut through the chaos, but it was faint, trembling. Her pale hand stretched out, reaching, trying to grasp onto Alex's arm as the void seemed to widen between them.

"I— I can't…" Alex's voice cracked with emotion, as the shadows pulled harder. They felt the weight of helplessness crashing down, and yet, Sarah's face, her pleading eyes, were the only thing anchoring them to reality.
