Chapter 55: Full of scars

Charlotte dried her face with the towel and looked at herself in the mirror. "I went crazy that I kissed him back," she murmured and touched her lips. Her heart skipped a beat and she recalled the touch of Édouard's lips against her lips. That feeling was strange but warm.

She recalled how he confessed his feelings after kissing her and it brought a smile to her lips. When the realization hit her, she patted her cheeks and scolded herself for thinking like that.

'But Édouard is your husband now, Charlotte.' Her inner voice told her.

"Cherry, are you taking a bath?" Édouard's question brought her out of those thoughts. She went to the door and opened the latch.

"I am done. Forgive me for making you wait," Charlotte said and stepped out of the washroom while holding the face towel.
