Chapter 30: Chapter 30

Chapter updated:

After a long arduous journey, they were able to enter the capital with many tales of adventure mixed with so many emotions and learning along the way, as they await their turn to get inspected as the guard was rigorous in checking every person who entered their main gate, without the scholar's knowledge that the gatekeepers where corrupt they would have stopped him from entering with the rest. a handful of gold ingots made his made-up identity seem true, as they finally reach their last destination.

the scholar Trazgallen Villmarine Ber'gith said his goodbyes and wish the merchants' family good tidings in their business endeavor's, and as a small token of appreciation toward the merchant's oldest daughter he gave her an uncanny-looking pen, he told her to use it to write about the things she discovers and hope he could read her research in the coming future.

she openly accepts it and thanks the old man as they separate and go on their ways, the city was majestically filled with a thriving economy, but like any city, there is always a place where gossip and malicious conversation, and even dark conspiracy always gather around to meet and exchange vital information, so without wasting time the scholar roam the city with the sole intention of gathering intel.

so after creating a false identity of a wandering scholar, he was able to learn from the back alley commoners about their reaction and even felt everything now in the capital that can be seen by the naked eye was a flourishing city, some even gave out their theories that the Regent too upon himself to create a mask to fool the inhabitants in making them believe everything was still under control.

as he search and interacted with many commoners and shared stories, indulge in some debauchery and spent a large amount of small gold ingot to soothe their curiosity into his reason and turn his wandering unusual and surprising way of interacting with the populace and making resemble they are just casually gossiping about, he was able to get directions to a hidden tavern that is filled with different races to conduct undisclosed transaction away from the prying eyes of the empires corrupt retainers.

many still adored and loyal to the Queen but were too unsure of their own safety to gather in this tavern to openly mock the current regime as most of them observed the drastic change right after the queen appointed her husband as the Empires Regent, it didn't take a year for the 3 houses of Dallmethad, Tharkeroth, and Drorkane, to be internally maligned and control people under their rule, unknown numbers of shadowy figures were conducting secret activities in the darkness

as life in the capital went on, some just ignored this because either they fear the 3 powerful houses that were now ruling the empire or they were a part of the scheme being created under closed doors because an undocumented number of lesser demons bore witness to this activity those who reacted foolishly will be just another anonymous name that will be carved on a tombstone.

whispers of executing a meticulous plan to remove her from power and get her husband a known disagreeable, vile and manipulative individual even in the eyes of the poor and worst in the criminal underworld.

many people were shocked and could not accept that their great hero and decent princess will fall for that kind of person, but because they were voiceless in the presence of those who had greed and power they just closed their mouths and became mute.

even after giving birth to her son, her husband used this opportunity to finally remove her from the capital and relocate to the farthest corner of her territory.

Trazgallen Villmarine Ber'gith was enraged hearing this from the mouth of a commoner, as she knew she was naïve awkward in social circumstances, easily persuaded and gullible to the point some of her loyal followers would advise her properly.

Thankfully, one former battle chambermaid who once served the Queen years ago was the same person who was openly sharing her Queen's sad fate in a hidden tavern, which took him a long time to find and required him to spend a few gold ingots to find it. he use his ability to see if she was telling the truth, and she was telling the truth.

As Trazgallen Villmarine Ber'gith was new in the area, she feared he might be a spy sent by one of the 3 factions that ruled in the shadow of the empire, so she halted and was about to leave when he snapped his fingers and everyone stopped moving. She saw this and feared that she was about to die, but he explained that he was just looking for his former student.

Since the queen's autobiography is well known throughout the empire, the female demon battle maid was suspicious of what the old man said since she had been trained by one of the 4 supreme primordial dragons.

her Pulse beating so loudly, blocking out all other sounds around her

Terror washed over her soul, raising the fine hairs on the back of her neck. she was paralyzed to the spot, she was the only one affected,

Heart pounding in her ears, she tried to scream, The sudden shock made her muscles tighter.

she was the only one who felt the Dragons power the was overwhelmed her to the core, then in an instant it diapered she could breathe again and saw the rest of her kind move again as if nothing happened, Trazgallen Villmarine Ber'gith once again asked the former battle maid if she has any information about the Queen and her child.

the former battle maid was able to get information and gave it to the known scholar even drawing a small map on a used parchment paper that was used to wrap a slice of boar meat, after a few minutes he felt that somebody notice his energy output and decided to leave but told the battle maid if she wants to help her Queen she need to be a decoy so his movement remains secret to several incoming representatives from one of the 3 houses, so the scholar handed one of his scales and told the maid that

"those individuals are greedy and seeing this scale in your hands will be something that they surely take from you and just keep for themselves,"

"and if they do ask where you avail receive such an item, just tell them the former queen gave it to her as a memento and payment for your services."

and after giving his scale he vanishes. the secret entrance to the tavern was forced open and the armored guard rushed in without hesitation. while a minor lord entered with disgust, covering his nose, as he strides in a repulsive manner evading items in the tavern to below aristocratic standards after seeing the item that produces a disturbance in the chaos particle in the area the head upper demonic guard orders everyone and was forced to kneel as the attendant announced the minor lord's name.

Trazgallen Villmarine Ber'gith was able to get out of the main city with no further issues, he felt bad after turning the battle main into a favourable distraction to avoid getting caught, and immediately after going out of the main capital gate he ventured toward the supposed location of the Queen. sadly using his draconic powers will surely attract the wrong individual suppressing his power to radiate to match lesser demons was hard enough now he need to travel without gaining any attention, so without any choice, he went out and see the queen on foot relying only on a scribble drawn on a piece of parchment paper.
