Chapter 2: Meeting a potential princess...
Oliver collected his luggage from the reception area of the airport and made his way outside, his first thoughts were to find a way onto town. As he slowly drifted down a sidewalk, he passed what he assumed was taxi rink, he thought it would be best to save whatever money he could as he didn't know when he would get more. As he walked down the path he felt the shadows of the trees and objects he passed reaching out for him, it felt as if they were calling him to embrace them.
Oliver tried to push it to the back of his mind as he continued to walk, when he got to the end of the main road he had a choice to make. The path split into three directions, unsure where he was going Oliver waited for a second before the shadows reached out once whispered"The central path is the quickest to the centre of town my young prince". Oliver slowly nodded his head in response a made his way down the central path through a vibrant green park that had a large lake in the middle of it.
Oliver noticed a young woman with shoulder length black hair sitting on a bench near him, he made his way towards the woman but before he could get to close he was stopped by an invisible force. The woman looked up from her book, her draining blue eyes pulling Oliver in. She looked Oliver up and down, apparently in favour of his muscly build. She then spoke in a calm and gentle voice using Japanese" You don't appear to be from around here, may I ask why you are approaching me? You are interrupting my reading."
Oliver stepped forward in response and forced his way past the force field that was keeping him back, shocking the woman who rose to her feet in response. Oliver then sat down on the bench and responded in English"I'm here to join the magic academy in this city, I approached you to ask if you know any estate agents in the city as I need a house for the duration of my studies."
The woman looked at Oliver with clear suspicion written in her eyes, she turned to him and said "As it happens my mother owns a nearby estate agents, are you a stalker? " Oliver laughed and said" I'm no stalker, I just arrived in Japan...."
He then hit himself in the head and said in Japanese" Sorry about the use of English, that is my natural language, it didn't click that you were speaking Japanese at all until two seconds ago. You have good knowledge of the English language. So can you get me in contact with your mother? I have around 2 million pounds sterling to spend on a property however I would prefer something small and close to the Japanese School of Magical excellence or whatever it is called."
She nodded her head and thought about how much money she could make for her mother if this young man in front of her was telling the truth. While she was on the phone, her shadow approached Oliver and whispered" Her name is Izuki and she has the potential to become one of the princesses of the shadow people my Prince. Keep this is mind, all will be explained tonight..."
When the shadow returned to its place, Oliver began to try and take notice of any different features that Izuki had compared to the other woman in the park who the shadows had not brought his attention too. The only thing he could think of or notice that was different was a scar she had that ran the ran the length of the bottom of her neck.
Izuki saw Oliver checking her out and finished the conversation quicker, Oliver managed to catch the end of the conversation" I will bring him to your office now, once he finishes checking me out. No mother I'm not going to marry the first man who makes conversation with me since the accident, hes not from around here so probably knows nothing. As soon as he finds out he will leave me like the rest of people our age, don't worry I will bring him to your office before that happens."
Once the conversation with her mother was over Izuki walked to Oliver and accusingly said"Did you enjoy the view?" Oliver rose from the bench and remarked"It was not bad however I did notice the scar you try to keep hidden, may I know the story behind it?" Izuki froze and sighed, she then muttered "Once we get to mothers, it will be explained too you anyway so why should waste my time now, lets go."
She walked towards an exit at the far side of the park with quick steps, Oliver noticed her book still laying on the bench and slightly;y shook his head at the antics of the woman. Deciding to do her a favour, he grabbed the book and closed the distance between the two quickly before handing the book to Izuki. She gave a quick thank you before disappearing further into the streets while occasionally stopping so Oliver could catch up.
The rest of the journey repeated the same way until they arriveed in front of a slightly run down estate agents, the front of the shop was in dire need of repairs while what Oliver could see of the inside looked good. Before he could make a remark on this however Izuki pulled him into the building and past the receptionist and into empty office at the back of the building. When they arrived Izuki went to get her mother while Oliver sat in the chair usual meant for the agent and put his legs on the table in front of him.
When Izuki returned she brought a woman with her who immediately grabbed Oliver;s attention, she was a sharp contrast to Izuki and aligned with Oliver's tastes a lot better. She was a lot curvier than Izuki and had a larger build in all of the right places. She had long following brown hair and dark green eyes that caught Oliver's eyes in a bind for a second. When he came too, he rose of his feet and lifted the woman's hand and lightly kissed it. He then smiled at her and gently said" Izuki said she was going to get her mother, not her sister. I refuse to believe a woman like you is old enough to have a daughter her age."
The woman was blushing furiously and made her way to her seat when Oliver stopped her and lifted the chair out for her to sit on beofre going and sitting across from her and smiling while she tried to avoid eye contact with him. Oliver lightly cupped her cheek in his hand and turned her to face him before saying" Miss, I would like your help to find a house a beautiful as you are, I have a small budget that I believe your daughter told you about on the phone. We can't do business if you refuse to look at me with those shining green eyes. My name is Oliver, what is yours?"
The woman was being glared at heavily by her daughter who was standing on the edge of the room, she finally manged to calm herself down and say" My name is Ayaka, my daughter failed to warn me about how charming you are. It caught me by surprise but as you said we should get on with business our firm has three flats that match your description. They vary in price but the locations are a mile away from and around the school you will be studying at."
Oliver smiled and said"I will take the medium priced of the three, I have the ability to transfer the money as soon as the papers are signed and I have the keys. What do you say we finish this quickly and go and get some dinner? I'm new to the area and have no idea about where the best places to get food are, after that I can take you home."
Silence filled the room, the woman looked at her daughter who seething with anger, Oliver turned to her and said"You can't be angry, you told your mother that I would reject you as soon as i found out about some accident. You already judged me and in doing so I judged you as well and the results are I would prefer your mother however I don't want to cause harm to another family so I will put a rain check on dinner for now however can we get the sale of the flat sorted soon as I haven't eaten all day. Aeroplane food is a no go."
Both woman were silent, after a few seconds Ayaka went into another room and gathered the details on the flat and the accommodating papers and brought them back to the room. The contracts were signed and the money paid, before Oliver left he turned around with a sweet smile on his face and said"Ayaka, lets go for that dinner now. I refuse to miss out on a date with a woman like you because your daughter is jealous. If you don't want to be seen having dinner with a younger man just say you are celebrating a successful deal or something. I will give you five minutes to get your things together and let your staff know."
He walked towards her and lightly pressed his lips against her forehead before leaving and going to the reception area. Ayaka stood there in a daze, unsure what to do, her daughter also stood there stunned. To Izuki's surprise Ayaka laughed and turned to her and said" Its rude to keep a gentleman waiting, I guess you will have to cook your own dinner tonight as I apparently have a date.Don't wait up, with the way he played his cards in the office, who knows what will happen."
Izuki responded with a disgusted look before saying"You know he is 18 right? three years younger than me, isn't that weird for you?" Ayaka laughed again and said" The laws have relaxed severely since the magical incident, as long as he is 18, it is legal. So why shouldn't I go and have fun? Your father left us 4 years ago. Hunny, its about time I tried someo-"
A knock at her door interrupted her and Oliver stuck his head into the room and said"Try someone new? moving quickly then? Lets get going, I want to enjoy your company some more, Thank you for everything you have done Izuki." Ayaka and Oliver left the building leaving a stunned and angry Izuki in the office alone....
